I was really excited to read this book after learning it would be portraying an MC with ADHD. And while I loved that representation, I found the abortion backstory regarding Rake's ex to be disheartening and harmful, especially in today's climate. Regardless of Rake and Lizzie's words about being pro-choice, the stark contrast between Rake's ex, the "villain" character who has an abortion, and Lizzie, our heroine who decides to keep the baby, draws an implicit narrative conclusion that abortion is wrong. Unfortunately I won't recommend a story with this type of characterization.

Ugg....this not for me. I was really excited to see a female lead with ADHD. Nothing else worked for me though. The "accidentally pregnant" trope annoyed me and I couldn't buy in to their relationship at all.

I really enjoyed the characters, I caught myself smiling quite a few times. I don't normally enjoy cursing in stories but it suited the characters well.

This book has been compared to a Taylor Swift song in book form, and I completely get it. If you're looking for a light, romantic read for summer, this is definitely a book that you want to check out.

This book was just sadly not for me! I was hoping for something different but it turned out to be something I was not expecting, which is okay and I'm sure someone else would love it!

I loved the ADHD representation in this book and I really liked the main characters. I was rooting for Lizzie and Rake the whole time, and was happy to see how well their story unfolded. I didn't quite like this one as much as A Brush With Love, but I still plan to read further books by Mazey Eddings.

I felt a little middling about A Brush with Love, so I'm beyond thrilled that Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake was such an unputdownable story. I literally didn't want to stop reading, and risked car sickness to finish the story.

I get why Lizzie might not be for all readers, but I immediately clicked with her. I loved her chaos and how she said exactly what was on her mind. After reading so many buttoned-up female MCs, Lizzie made me feel alive. I laughed and cried with her, and I really just GOT her. Her baking journey was so fun for me, and her personal journey felt very rewarding.

Rake was less developed and a little too perfect, but I still actually liked him. Sure, the story was a bit insta-lovey, but I think they really grew together over time. I'll also never turn down tall and handsome with an Australian accent...

I read Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake in practically one sitting, and it made me so excited for what else is in store for us with the rest of the series. Keep it up, Mazey Eddings.

I absolutely hate myself for having to put this one down when I first received it due to personal issues. Being in a much better space I'm so dang glad I read this and got to find another new favorite author!

Lizzie has ADHD. And while she tries so hard to get it controlled with medication, etc she struggles with fitting into the "normal" box her mother has always tried to force her into. Looking for a one night stand, Lizzie meets Austalian Rake. Because he's not from here and leaving in just two days, she breaks her one night only rule just this once. After all, he'll be going back to Australia anyways. While Lizzie really started to like Rake, she is thoroughly shocked to find out she's pregnant. And really wants to keep the baby. When she tells Rake, he immediately moves his life to the US to help her.

Through a series of being roommates, occasional hookups, and just doing life together, Lizzie and Rake fall in love. I see so much of myself in Lizzie! She's chaotic, a "mess", but wants so desperately to fit in and be loved. Her relationship with her parents mirrors mine and it was so painful to read her wanting their love and knowing she'll never get it. And Rake. 🤤 Rake has got to be the very best written fictional male love interest I've ever read. Hes just perfection. Mazie Eddings has a way with a pen and the dialogue and stories she creates are nothing short of romantic magic. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for her first sapphic romance to drop!! 😍

TW: accidental pregnancy

After having to put this down last year for personal reasons, I was able to pick it up again recently after reading A Brush with Love and ended up really enjoying it. It was messy in the best way possible. Lizzie is a sweet, endearing character who has ADHD and learns how to manage it throughout the book. In addition to learning how to manage living with a stranger and being pregnant with their baby. Oh my! There were heavy moments and light-hearted tender moments along with some sexy spice.

"Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake" by Mazey Eddings is a delightful and enchanting love story that combines passion, humor, and the complexities of life. Lizzie, a spirited and accident-prone woman who has made her fair share of mistakes, finds herself breaking her own rules and having a life-changing encounter. Rake, a man guarded against relationships and emotions, is inexplicably drawn to Lizzie's chaotic charm. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery, love, and unexpected consequences.

Author Mazey Eddings masterfully captures the essence of flawed yet endearing characters in this luscious tale. Lizzie's endless mishaps and Rake's reluctance to open himself up to vulnerability create a captivating dynamic that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The chemistry between Lizzie and Rake is electric, and their journey is filled with both laugh-out-loud moments and heartfelt emotions.

Eddings infuses the story with humor and wit, providing readers with an enjoyable and entertaining read. Lizzie's escapades, from kitchen fires to pyramid schemes, add a lightness to the narrative and create a relatable connection with her character. The inclusion of an underground erotic baking scheme adds a unique and playful element to the story, showcasing the author's creativity and ability to blend romance and humor seamlessly.

The exploration of Lizzie and Rake's personal growth and emotional transformation forms the heart of the novel. Both characters are flawed and carry their own emotional baggage, making their journey of self-discovery and learning to open their hearts all the more satisfying. The underlying theme of embracing mistakes and finding beauty in unexpected consequences adds depth and resonance to the story, reminding readers that life's twists and turns can lead to unexpected happiness.

Eddings' writing style is engaging and vibrant, painting vivid scenes and crafting dialogue that brings the characters to life. The pacing of the story is well-balanced, with a mix of tender moments, comedic interludes, and heartfelt revelations that keep the narrative flowing smoothly.

Overall, "Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake" is a charming and captivating love story that will warm the hearts of readers. Mazey Eddings skillfully blends passion, humor, and relatable characters, delivering a tale that celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the unexpected joys that can arise from the mistakes we make. This book is a delightful escape that will leave readers with a smile and a renewed belief in the power of love.

This was such a rollercoaster of ratings for me but landed on a solid 4 stars. I almost DNF’d at the start, then LOVED the middle and then just liked the last bit.

This has a trope I don’t love (but perhaps I actually do because this is the third book this year I’ve liked with it 😂….so I guess I should stop saying that LOL), but I did find it worked really well in this book.

I love this super fun friend group, I’m excited there’s another book featuring them. They know each others so well and call each other out on their crap.

Lizzie is HILARIOUS and had me cracking up over and over. Rake is the sweetest…I loved his commitment and he was a perfect book boyfriend! I highly recommend the audio - loved hearing his Australian accent.

Delightful second book for Eddings--babies are not usually my fave trope, but Eddings made me love it! Tender, funny, and sexy.

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake is a book that sucked me in from the start and didn't let me go. This book is a roller coaster of emotions, but so well written. I don't have ADHD, but it was interesting to read about a character who deals with this daily. It's not something I've seen in many stories and I love seeing different things highlighted in books.

Our main character Lizzie ends up pregnant after sleeping with Rake twice. She wasn't expecting it and things were falling apart when she found out, but she took it heads on and wasn't going to let anything stop her. We see how Lizzie deals with ADHD daily and sometimes no matter how hard she tries things just don't go as planned. She is amazing though. Lizzie speaks with no filter, follows her heart, is very creative, and just wants to be loved. Having people doubt her most of her life didn't help and I loved seeing her grow. Slowly she realized she is worth so much more than just her diagnosis.

That's when we get to the pregnancy. I loved the fact that Lizzie called Rake right away and didn't hide anything. Rake got on a plane from Australia right away, because he wanted to be involved. He gets in way over his head at times, but he tries and really cares that just made this so heartwarming. They try and be platonic, but we slowly see the feelings develop as the pregnancy develops. There were so many heartwarming and laugh out loud moments. Things even get a little spicy here and there!

There was also some family drama with Lizzie's family and it was interesting to see it develop. Rake stood up for her and that was such a swoonworthy moment. Everyone needs someone in their corner and Lizzie definitely found her person. I finished reading this book about a week ago and I still think about it! If you're looking for a fun and heartwarming romance, definitely pick up Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake.

Eddings wants to normalize neurodivergency, with AD(H)D being the "newest" issue to confront, and she does not pull it off, instead reinforcing all the stereotypes about irresponsible, impossible, wildly impulsive ADHDers. Definitely secret baby trope, which makes me irate, since TINY HUMANS really shouldn't be a pawn.

I only got partway through this one before giving up. This book just didn't catch my interest in the way other romances have recently. Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martins for the ARC.

Okay, the verdict’s still out as I’m currently reading THE PLUS ONE but so far LIZZIE is my fave🤭

I’m finding it hard to review this book because I just loved it so much. But I really think I related to this one because Lizzie’s constant fear of feeling rejected and a disappointment is something I so deeply resonated with.

We follow the best gal gang of Harper, Thu, Lizzie, and Indira in this second instalment in the series. The way they’re so supportive of each other and love each other, really makes me smile because it reminds me of my friends

Her entire life, Lizzie hasn't escaped the criticisms about her very personality and her ADHD. From her mother to her boss, she can't get away from it. So after a one night stand with a man who doesn't even live in the same country leaves her with a bun in the oven, she finds herself having to change her ways in order to mature, and why not do that with a hot Australian man at your side?

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake is a book that you read when you don't want to think about anything, as the book is nothing but a bundle of joy (ba dum tsss) wrapped in a cute package. I will say that I am and always will be a sucker for the pregnancy trope and I am fully unapologetic about it, I do not care! Lizzie and Rake (can't say I'm in love with his name but oh well) were adorable, and I loved them both trying to get their lives together to take care of this baby!

Although I have no huge criticisms for this book I still find myself unable to rate it 5 stars. It was really cute, but not a standout in my opinion. There are better books out there but that's not to say that you shouldn't give this one a try! It's a good quick read that will leave you feeling good on the inside.
