Her entire life, Lizzie hasn't escaped the criticisms about her very personality and her ADHD. From her mother to her boss, she can't get away from it. So after a one night stand with a man who doesn't even live in the same country leaves her with a bun in the oven, she finds herself having to change her ways in order to mature, and why not do that with a hot Australian man at your side?

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake is a book that you read when you don't want to think about anything, as the book is nothing but a bundle of joy (ba dum tsss) wrapped in a cute package. I will say that I am and always will be a sucker for the pregnancy trope and I am fully unapologetic about it, I do not care! Lizzie and Rake (can't say I'm in love with his name but oh well) were adorable, and I loved them both trying to get their lives together to take care of this baby!

Although I have no huge criticisms for this book I still find myself unable to rate it 5 stars. It was really cute, but not a standout in my opinion. There are better books out there but that's not to say that you shouldn't give this one a try! It's a good quick read that will leave you feeling good on the inside.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I enjoyed Eddings follow-up to A Brush With Love. Lizzie is endearing and “quirky.” Rake is solid book boyfriend material. While I enjoyed this overall, it didn’t have the same magic as A Brush With Love, and when I sat down to write this I realized not a lot of the story stayed with me. It was still a lovely read, but if pregnancy or unexpected pregnancy tropes aren’t your thing, you’ll want to pass.

Romance books are always my favorite book to read at any time of the year. No matter what I am always in the mood to read a romance book. And this book was so so good. It reminded me why I loved romance books so much.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake was a book I couldn’t put down. I needed to keep reading to see where the story was going to go and what would happen. When I would have to put it down to go back to work or to go to bed, I wouldn’t want to stop reading it. It was an addicting read that I’m so happy got to read.

When it comes to the characters, I found them interesting. They really came off the page and I found myself wanting to know where they would end up. Especially where the relationship between Lizzie and Rake would go. Lizzie herself stood out the most on the page, as well as from all of the other characters. I found her to be relatable since I also have ADHD, which can be really hard to live with. So getting to see more of that rep and seeing a character living with it, made me feel like I was being represented in a book.

The writing was really great and was another reason why I couldn’t put the book down. Mazey Eddings did a great job of bringing her story to life, as well as having her characters feel alive on the page. I also think she did a good job with the ADHD rep that she put into her book. I will definitely be reading more of her books, including reading the book she had previously published before this one.

Overall, I really really enjoyed my time with this book. I can’t wait to read more work from this author. I hope that you decided to pick up Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake and that from reading this review you will pick up this book.

What a delight. My first by Mazey Eddings but I have her first book on my shelf so I will definitely be picking it up soon. I loved Lizzie and Rake. I really enjoyed listening to the audio.

The spring daffodils got me feeling some type of way, and so I’m here for all the breezy cutesy romances to get me ready for that turn to warmer days!

BLURB: Lizzie Blake has done some crazy things in her life, but none as crazy as her one night stand with an Australian hottie, that leads to an unexpected pregnancy. Rake has given up on serious relationships, been there done that. However, there’s something about about the chaotic absorbent energy that is Lizzie that keeps him coming back for more… and now there’s a baby in the mix. All they need to do is figure out how to adult together, while keeping their hearts out of it and they should be ok.

So, this is my second book by Mazey Eddings, and one thing I want to do is give her credit for tackling diverse topics inside of romance. This book was fun, and hot, and gave me all the vibes of a lemon snow cone on a hot summer day. Sweet, with a kick in certain parts.

I’ll preface what I have to say next by saying, I preferred A Brush with Love. That is 100% related to the fact that I loved Dan way more than I was feeling Rake. However, that is a personal preference. Rake gave extreme golden retriever energy, and something rubbed me the wrong way about his people pleasing tendencies (I won’t ruin it, but let’s just say, that plays a huge part). Besides that, there are certain aspects that lead me to believe he’s still mourning his ex… which I didn’t love.

However, I LOVED Lizzie. She was imperfect, and quirky, and chaotic. (I know this type of heroine isn’t for everyone but she is for me).

SMALL SPOILERS! In addition, as a trigger warning there is discussion of abortion (not involving any of the mains). I know that was a trigger point for some… however on my personal opinion I thought the topic was handled with tact. Rake gets a lot of hate for some of the things surrounding that. However, I would love to hear other peoples opinions. What did you think? Did you like this one?

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

After a two-night stand, American Lizzie ends up accidentally pregnant by Australian Rake. When Lizzie decides to keep the baby, Rake wants to be a part of the child's life - the two end up living in a (large) studio with one bed. They both have hard and fast rules about remaining just friends, but sometimes the biggest mistakes have the best consequences.

I loved this! The audiobook was fine - some reason Rake was narrated in an American accent and spoke in Australian accent and that was weird. I loved the romance enough to ignore this. Mazey Eddings is quickly becoming a must read for me!

Short synopsis: A follow up to A Brush with Love, this time we get Lizzie’s story. A one night stand turned unexpected pregnancy, with a charming Australian man named Rake.

My thoughts: This one had a lot more open door steam then I generally prefer, and by a lot… I mean starting on page 20 we get quite an inside look. That being said, it should be expected knowing they general synopsis of the book (which I usually avoid.)

Very spicy, but at the same time I loved getting an inside look into Lizzie’s brain and how her adult ADHD affects her day to day living. Mazey did such a great job at writing Lizzie, and her struggles. Her relationship with her parents (mom especially) broke my heart into a million pieces. Being a parent is hard, but at the end of the day the most important thing is to love and try to understand our kids.

Read if you love:
- Australian accents
- Neurodivergent rep
- Accidental pregnancy
- Standing up for your partner
- Baked goods

Actually DNFed it after I got to like 50% so I’m giving it 3 stars cause I read a lot of it lol

It’s absolutely not a bad book, it’s just not what I was in the mood for. However, I do look forward to reading it in the future.

This book was a mixed bag for me, like a lot of readers, so I'm going to have to go with a 3 star review. I'm not an insta love sort of fan, but I did enjoy the writing style.

The book does tackle pregnancy, past relationship abortions etc so do be aware.

Truthfully, this book did take me a bit to get into. However, that is ONLY due to the tropes used. Macey Eddings has a way of writing characters that feel real and authentic. Lizzie is a wonderful character who made me laugh out loud. I had the same “oh I love this book” feels as A BRUSH WITH LOVE.

What didn’t work for me: surprise pregnancy trope. I am not someone who likes pregnancy in my romances and that made it difficult for me to keep reading this. I found myself being pulled out of the story because of this trope combination.

That aside, I still enjoyed the other aspects of this book, including the writing style. I can’t wait to read Macey’s newest release (THE PLUS ONE).

Another classic from Mazey Eddings! Lizzie and Rake were funny and sincere, and I enjoyed being on this wild journey with them.

I typically don't like the accidental pregnancy trope, and I also wasn't a big fan of Mazey Eddings' first book, but this book was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the story line and felt that they handled the accidental pregnancy well. I liked that Rake stood up for Lizzie when it mattered to her, and even when he didn't, it wasn't intentional, it was more because he was speechless/shocked, and he still ended up making it right. I liked that their relationship blossomed throughout the pregnancy and they were partners throughout.

I love books that highlight messy, imperfect love for characters that are messy and imperfect themselves. It was hot. It was emotional. It made me cry into a bowl of soup.

Well, I'll admit I almost abandoned this book immediately. I have a VERY hard time with this trope, for absolutely every reason, and it usually makes me completely ditch the book and move on. I decided to give it a shot after friends recommendations, and because I have previously enjoyed Mazey's writing.

While I struggled with the entire story because of the trope, I also struggled with the MC. Maybe it was because I was already annoyed but it felt like everything she did bothered me. In saying all of this, I still clearly enjoyed it because I rated it 4 stars. The relationship between our MC's was beautiful and natural feeling and I loved the development and growth Lizzie had with her family. It wasn't super memorable, but it was definitely enjoyable.

I requested this book not knowing that it was the 2nd book in a series but solely based on the cute cover :). It turned out to have romance, steamy lust, great friendships, family issues, and much more. Lizzie’s story was a good one, like a good friend sometimes you wanna scold her and sometimes you just want to give her a big hug. Great book!

I had really high hopes for this book after Mazey's debut and I was not disappointed at all. This will definitely be on my favorites of 2023 list. It follows Lizzie, a baker with ADHD who isn't interested in relationships, who meets Rake, an Aussie visiting the US for work, in a bar and decides he is the person she wants to have a ONS with. However, she ends up losing her job and decides to make it a two-night stand. Rake goes back home and then Lizzie finds out she's pregnant. The story then goes on with Rake coming back to the US because he wants to co-parent platonically with Lizzie.

I love this book. Having an #OwnVoices ADHD book was incredible and meaningful. It wasn't a joke or quirky personality traits, it was something that was hard for Lizzie and interfered with a lot in her life. I love a sharing-space-trying-not-to-bone situation and this one was played out so well. Stakes were high. There's a bit of family drama in this story as well, which was sad, but resolved in a way that made the most sense instead of the way they are typically resolved. I cannot wait book 3 that follows Indira!

I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest opinion

Sizzling romance with just the right amount of back and forth between the characters to keep me interested.

I was very excited to read about Lizzie in the next installment by Mazey Eddings. I am not a huge fan of the unexpected pregnancy trope, or really pregnancy tropes in general.. With that being said I think that Mazey Eddings does an excellent job portraying it and make it a part of the story without it dominating the rest of the story, and the relationship building between the two characters. I think Lizzie is a great representation of what it can be like to have ADHD, as well as being a person that people in general think is just "too much". I loved how vibrant Lizzie was, and getting to see her from Rake's POV gave insight into appreciating the little things about the people you love and viewing them from a new perspective. I enjoyed the dual perspective that kept the story moving and allowed us to see if from both sides. I also loved the idea of finding a hot Australian man in a bar, and having him drop everything and move across the country for you LOL.

"For anyone who's been told they're too loud. Too emotional. Too much. You are the perfect amount of enough."

This was a charming and sweet romance. I enjoyed this author's novel A Brush With Love -- and I think Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake was even better! The book deals with complex topics like ADHD and complicated family relationships and handles those topics in a sensitive manner.

I really liked the MC, Lizzie Blake - she is brave, persistent and full of life. Rafe was a great character too and exactly what Lizzie needed in her best and worst moments. I'd say I didn't expect the book to get as steamy as it did based on the front cover - I definitely had to stick my head in the freezer a few times!

Overall, a fun and delightful read. I'll definitely check out what Mazey Eddings writes next!
