Lizzie is a fun character. She was fun in Mazey Eddings’ debut novel (A Brush With Love) and it was delightful getting to know her better in this book.
Lizzie is doing her best to make a life for herself living with adult ADHD. Her childhood consisted of having her spirit beat down by her parents (especially her mother) for not being more like her ‘perfect’ brother. This had her leaving home as soon as she finished high school. What did she do? Traveled the world!
Her love life consists of one-night stands - with a strong one night only policy. She is afraid to connect to anyone, which I would say is primarily due to a partially traumatice first time.
Lizzie struggles to hold down a job and make wise decisions.
Things really change for her when she meets Rake, an Australian hottie in town on a business trip. She unintentionally breaks her one night rule and ends up pregnant! She decides she is going to keep the baby and contacts Rake in Australia to let him know. She does not want his involvement, but insists and comes back. They make an attempt to be platonic coparents and as one could imagine that doesn’t quite work out for them.
The book was fun and full of laughs. The two main characters are delightful and so are Lizzie’s friends (same form the previous novel - I just loved those dynamics). The book includes the importance of cutting the ties of toxic relatioships, even if they are family.
This was a good sequel to a wonderful debut.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me an e-arc of this book.

I really loved this story. Mazey Eddings is a new author for me and I was delighted to learn that Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is a standalone second novel in a series. I plan to go back and read the first book, A Brush With Love and any others she writes! I’ve never read a romance novel where the Heroine had ADHD and I felt that the author handled it beautifully. It was so interesting (and sometimes heartbreaking) to see the inner workings of Lizzie’s mind, and to understand how much of a struggle certain things could be. I typically do not like the surprise pregnancy trope but I really enjoyed it here. Rake and Lizzie were two of the best, most interesting characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading about in a long time. Highly recommend!!!

lizzie blake's best mistake was a good book. but it was just that, a good book. not bad, not great, just good. extremely average. this romance book follows lizzie, our chaotic and messy protagonist who after a two-night stand, finds herself pregnant. rake, the other participant in said two-night stand, is closed off and unable to offer himself emotionally to her. despite this, he wants to be an equal and available participant in their child's life. as her pregnancy progresses, these two characters find themselves drawn together in more ways than one, and they break down the numerous barriers between them before the birth of their child.

as i said, this was just an average read. of course you can't help but root for lizzie and rake, but otherwise the romance fell flat for me. i don't really enjoy reading instalove, which this book had right from the get go. i also am not a huge fan of the pregnancy trope, so this wasn't my favorite romance ever. with that being said, this book was still really well written, and i cared enough about the story to finish. i just didn't care THAT much. i think other audiences will enjoy this much more than i did. 3/5 stars!

thank you so much to both netgalley and st. martin's press for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have so much love for this book and Mazey Eddings. From the first page I was hooked on Rake and Lizzie's story. I wanted to read it in one sitting and savor it at the same time! Lizzie Blake is a ray of sunshine and I would love to be her friend in real life. Rake is a wonderful love interest and I loved how his past and issues were revealed over the course of the book. Once again, Mazey does a wonder job of weaving in mental health issues and neurodiverse characters into a beautiful love story that gives you all the warm and fuzzy feelings. She is definitely an auto-buy author for me now and I cannot wait for Indira's book next!

This book has some of the best neurodivergent, female ADHD rep that I've ever encountered. I was nervous going in because so often women with ADHD aren't taken seriously and are told to just "try harder" and "don't be so lazy" as if we are somehow less beholden to the dopamine than men with ADHD. Mazey handled it beautifully, to the point where I was highlighting lines and reading them to my therapist because it described my experiences better than I ever could. When Mazey finally started setting alarms to make it through the day, I cheered because if I don't set an alarm for something it won't get done 😂

The romance was also perfect. The hero, Rake, has been burned before and is now locked down tighter than the doomsday seed vault. He has an ooey gooey center just waiting to leak out and jumps on a plane as soon as he hears that Lizzie is pregnant. Because yeah, this is an accidental pregnancy book. And probably my favorite accidental pregnancy book ever. The way these two goofs fumbled through their changing relationship felt so realistic.

I saw this book on NetGalley and read the blurb and immediately wanted to read it.

I got approved for the ARC and I was so excited, as I was to start reading it I saw that Mazey Eddings was the author and I got really nervous that I was about to hate this book. I was NOT a fun of A Brush With Love at all and felt like this was going to be a sequel to that experience.

We’ll let me tell you - I was happily surprised to see chemistry from these two characters coming of the page from scene 1. The writing in this book is spectacular. How Ms.Eddings managed to describe the mind of someone with ADHD had me enthralled and FEELING and sympathizing.

The experience between these two characters and their tangible chemistry was my favorite part. These scenes were so detailed with the banter and awkwardness and how you just connect with someone sometimes , it felt so real.

Even the relationships between the family members was so realistic.

WHY am I not giving it five stars ? The ending was rushed, and that’s always a big no no for me. The pregnancy ended up taking a back seat and to me thags always annoying. And most importantly, the awkward as hell sex scenes towards the end. It was NOT sexy, it was creepy, and I want to unread it from my mind forever.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is the second book after A Brush with Love, however this can totally be read as a stand alone! Lizzie suffers from uncontrolled adult ADHD and it causes her life to be a little chaotic. She doesn’t think anyone can love her messy self so she sticks to hookups but everything changes when she meets Rake!
Lizzie was a wonderful character that I loved so much! Mazey did such a wonderful job describing how difficult it can be for someone to live with ADHD but also what a beautiful thing it can be. The connection built between Rake and Lizzie was so beautiful! A true opposites attract, it’s just a hookup, surprise pregnancy! All of these tropes were done so well! I loved Rake so much! Total book boyfriend! He didn’t just help Lizzie see how beautiful she is just as she is but she also helped Rake see the world in a completely different like. Their differences helped bring out the best in eachother! This book had me laughing so much, I cried, I swooned and I cheered! Preorder this book now! You won’t be disappointed! I only wish we got a longer epilogue! I usually have a hard time connecting to books written on third person but it wasn’t the case in this book! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book!

This book is a love letter to those with ADHD. This book has meant the absolute world to me after just coming to the conclusion that I have ADHD this year and getting diagnosed at 24 years old. I felt so seen in these pages. I felt so many feelings reading this book! Thank you Mazey, truly, for writing this story into the world. I loved Lizzie, in a some ways we are so different but in a lot of ways we are the same. I really felt that I am a complete mixture of Lizzie and Harper from A Brush with Love. It's amazing to see myself in these books. I loved seeing through Lizzie's eyes and feeling what she felt. Reading this love story between her and Rake, it was beautiful! The way Rake loves Lizzie is how I hoped I can be loved someday. This is definitely one of my favorite books ever now and I can't wait to read whatever Mazey Eddings writes next! Thank you to Mazey and her publishers for this Netgalley ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I loved A Brush With Love and came into Lizzie Blake with high expectations, which were totally met. Mazey Eddings is officially an auto-buy author for me.

I fell in love with Lizzie and Rake from the jump. The characters are richly, beautifully flawed and charming and wonderful--and their chemistry is fire. Loved this book. Will read it again, in fact.

This was every.dang.thing. I am seriously obsessed with Rake. New book boyfriend 100%. We stan a supportive, emotionally intelligent, humble man. I love how he loves Lizzie for her. He doesn’t see any of her perceived flaws as such, but as strengths and the essential parts that make up her. Lizzie was so unapologetically herself and while there is definitely growth and development in her throughout the story I really really loved and appreciated she loves herself and advocates for herself. The pace of the story was so well done- I ate this shit up. Also, when Lizzie tells her mom that she loves her but she doesn’t want her in her life, chefs kiss. Which might seem controversial, but we are so often just supposed to love people because of who they are to us- by blood or whatever. And it’s just stupid. If someone doesn’t serve you (and doesn’t try to figure out how to) then bye. It’s okay to love someone and not want them in your life. Toxicity is so real in families and I so appreciated the realness of that moment. I could go on forever. I will forever read anything Mazey writes. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s for the opportunity to review this one.

This book was exactly the sunshine I was expecting! I adored A Brush With Love, Mazey Eddings previous book, and I was so excited to revisit this world. Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake was even more fabulous. It had tons of heart, so much depth, and plenty of steam!

Confession: I love an unexpected pregnancy trope. Love it. I hardly ever see it these days, but pregnancies are the best at pulling out big emotions! This book started out with a bang (pun intended), and Lizzie ends up pregnant with hottie Australian Rake's baby. What followed was a swoony tale of Lizzie and Rake getting to know each other and becoming each other's most ardent supporters. The representation of a neurodiverse heroine was wonderful and I loved seeing inside Lizzie's head as she took on the world. There's also a great friend group, a family scene that will leave you in tears, and a job that will delight you.

This book left me with the biggest smile. I highly recommend it, and I can't wait to see what comes next from Mazey Eddings.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced e-book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Mazey Eddings is the next Tessa Bailey! I absolutely loved reading about Lizzie after meeting her the first time in A Brush With Love. It makes me really want to be part of the girl gang of Lizzie, Harper, Thu and Indira!

The way that Mazey Eddings portrays a character with ADHD in such a pure and vulnerable way really was something special.

Lizzie and Rake's chemistry and character development throughout the book really tugged at my heart and had me thinking about them 24/7. This book made me laugh out loud and made me want to cry and be mad when Lizzie and Rake were both upset too. And that's how I know a book is good - if I can feel exactly what the characters are feeling!

This was such a joy to read and I'm so happy that I got to read it.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake flips the story arc of the rom-com around.

Lizzie and Rake meet in a bar and have a fling while he is in Philadelphia. Two weeks later, long after Rake’s departure, both of their lives are turned upside down when they receive some unexpected news… So begins their co-parenting journey and figuring out if they could potentially be something more than platonic co-parents.

Lizzie is Rake are lovable protagonists. Lizzie is a neurodivergent and has ADHD. All of her life she’s been told that she’s “too much” by the people around her, especially her mother. All Lizzie wants is for someone to appreciate her and to value the effort she puts in because despite some of her efforts falling short she does try.

As Lizzie navigates pregnancy with ADHD, Rake is there for her as a person who appreciates her for her. He’s sweet and goes out of his way to make it known that he truly values her. Their interactions never felt forced and they had good banter with one another. As a bonus, the author is neurodivergent. Overall it was a really enjoyable book with a quick pace and an interesting plot!

I absolutely adored this book, even more than the first in this series. As someone who who has ADHD and anxiety, this book made me feel like I was looking into a mirror. Lizzie is wild, hilarious, deeply emotional, sarcastic, and definitely messy, but she deserves love just as much as anyone else on this planet. That’s all anyone wants, and getting to read from Rake’s perspective how he sees her heart and soul brought so much joy to me. Hopefully there will be more books about Indira and Thu next!! Thank you to Mazey Eddings and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

This book was amazing! I enjoyed every single chapter, and it kept me hooked the entire time, which I loved!

***SPOILERS!***
I absolutely devoured this book. I hooked me immediately and never disappointed. I actually had just read the first book she wrote about one of the other characters a few weeks ago so it was like meeting up with old friends. Usually the accidental pregnancy theme doesn't do it for me but I absolutely loved everything about this book!

Okay, so I might not have read the synopsis of this book well and internally groaned upon finding out this book is based around a pregnancy. (I'm not a fan of the pregnancy trope) BUT, this book did that trope surprisingly well. I didn't hate it and that is high praise from me in this case.

Beyond that, I think the character development was really done well in our two MCs, Lizzie and Rake. Lizzie has ADHD and has been told her entire life that she is "too much" and has started to believe it. Rake is just emotionally constipated (so a man? Jk... mostly.)

Shoved into each other's lives due to an unplanned and very much accidental pregnancy, these two build a relationship. Lizzie and Rake bring out the best in eachother and I loved seeing them grow.

I also really enjoyed the fact the author didn't draaaaag the book to last the entire pregnancy. It was the perfect amount and honestly, the pregnancy was just the catalyst for the rest of the plot, but wasn't the main story. (Probably why I didn't hate it.)

Thank you to NetGalley, Mazey Eddings, and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book ahead of publication!

I devoured this book in one go, could not put it down, it captivated me fully! I loved Lizzie, and having a kiddo with ADHD myself I cried a lot and some of her descriptions of what she was going through. I think this really hit me hard and one of the reasons I was so drawn in. The book is pretty steamy from the get go, quite detailed but somehow sweet and special. I do think the main “plot points” were not particularly grounded in reality, but I was so engaged in the writing I didn’t really care!
