Mazey Eddings is the next Tessa Bailey! I absolutely loved reading about Lizzie after meeting her the first time in A Brush With Love. It makes me really want to be part of the girl gang of Lizzie, Harper, Thu and Indira!
The way that Mazey Eddings portrays a character with ADHD in such a pure and vulnerable way really was something special.
Lizzie and Rake's chemistry and character development throughout the book really tugged at my heart and had me thinking about them 24/7. This book made me laugh out loud and made me want to cry and be mad when Lizzie and Rake were both upset too. And that's how I know a book is good - if I can feel exactly what the characters are feeling!
This was such a joy to read and I'm so happy that I got to read it.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake flips the story arc of the rom-com around.
Lizzie and Rake meet in a bar and have a fling while he is in Philadelphia. Two weeks later, long after Rake’s departure, both of their lives are turned upside down when they receive some unexpected news… So begins their co-parenting journey and figuring out if they could potentially be something more than platonic co-parents.
Lizzie is Rake are lovable protagonists. Lizzie is a neurodivergent and has ADHD. All of her life she’s been told that she’s “too much” by the people around her, especially her mother. All Lizzie wants is for someone to appreciate her and to value the effort she puts in because despite some of her efforts falling short she does try.
As Lizzie navigates pregnancy with ADHD, Rake is there for her as a person who appreciates her for her. He’s sweet and goes out of his way to make it known that he truly values her. Their interactions never felt forced and they had good banter with one another. As a bonus, the author is neurodivergent. Overall it was a really enjoyable book with a quick pace and an interesting plot!

I absolutely adored this book, even more than the first in this series. As someone who who has ADHD and anxiety, this book made me feel like I was looking into a mirror. Lizzie is wild, hilarious, deeply emotional, sarcastic, and definitely messy, but she deserves love just as much as anyone else on this planet. That’s all anyone wants, and getting to read from Rake’s perspective how he sees her heart and soul brought so much joy to me. Hopefully there will be more books about Indira and Thu next!! Thank you to Mazey Eddings and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

This book was amazing! I enjoyed every single chapter, and it kept me hooked the entire time, which I loved!

***SPOILERS!***
I absolutely devoured this book. I hooked me immediately and never disappointed. I actually had just read the first book she wrote about one of the other characters a few weeks ago so it was like meeting up with old friends. Usually the accidental pregnancy theme doesn't do it for me but I absolutely loved everything about this book!

Okay, so I might not have read the synopsis of this book well and internally groaned upon finding out this book is based around a pregnancy. (I'm not a fan of the pregnancy trope) BUT, this book did that trope surprisingly well. I didn't hate it and that is high praise from me in this case.
Beyond that, I think the character development was really done well in our two MCs, Lizzie and Rake. Lizzie has ADHD and has been told her entire life that she is "too much" and has started to believe it. Rake is just emotionally constipated (so a man? Jk... mostly.)
Shoved into each other's lives due to an unplanned and very much accidental pregnancy, these two build a relationship. Lizzie and Rake bring out the best in eachother and I loved seeing them grow.
I also really enjoyed the fact the author didn't draaaaag the book to last the entire pregnancy. It was the perfect amount and honestly, the pregnancy was just the catalyst for the rest of the plot, but wasn't the main story. (Probably why I didn't hate it.)
Thank you to NetGalley, Mazey Eddings, and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book ahead of publication!

I devoured this book in one go, could not put it down, it captivated me fully! I loved Lizzie, and having a kiddo with ADHD myself I cried a lot and some of her descriptions of what she was going through. I think this really hit me hard and one of the reasons I was so drawn in. The book is pretty steamy from the get go, quite detailed but somehow sweet and special. I do think the main “plot points” were not particularly grounded in reality, but I was so engaged in the writing I didn’t really care!

4.5⭐️// Mazey Eddings #1 fan thank u NetGalley for the advanced copy of this gem of a book I am forever indebted to u

Engaging and clever novel and thoroughly enjoyable. Lizzie has adult ADHD and her mind is a whirlwind of thoughts and it is hard for her to stay on task. She meets Rake and a two day fling ends with her pregnant. Rake is completely smitten with all of Lizzie, especially her mind. Their adventure in love-its trials and joys- is an excellent story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved the different take on a story line it's fun to read and and hard to read at the same time cause you can imagine what lizzie is going through adhd is a hard one I know from experience I loved that rake was so kind and understanding most of the time it was a really sweet story

Wow, wow, wow! Lizzie Blake is my favorite female main character of all time. She is such a strong person, who learns to manager her ADHD while being thrust into a co-parenting relationship with her hot baby daddy Rake. Their connection just pulled on my heart strings. They're so opposite at first but the more you learn about them, the more you realize they're so alike. The bakery plot line was so hilarious and I loved how much this book made me laugh. 10/10 recommend!

Thanks to @stmartinspress and @netgalley I was able to devour 𝐋𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐈𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐊𝐄'𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄 (Pub 9.6.22). I fell in love with @mazeyeddings debut, A Brush with Love. and could not wait until closer to the pub date to read her sophomore effort.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Quick steam
- Accidental pregnancy
- Dual POV
- Close-proximity roommate
- Opposites attract
- Toxic parents
- Rake is Australian. (hubba hubba)
- Lizzie is a bit of a train wreck but positively delightful and full of life.
- Funny and full of sharp dialogue.
- Charming and incredibly heartwarming.
- Characters that were layered and authentic.
- Neurodiverse representation- ADHD
- Tender, honest and vulnerable conversations.
- Steam level 4 🍆 Burned the door down.
I love seeing more books with neurodiverse characters. It's important to see those real-life components reflected back to us authentically in fiction. But even more than that, I love how Mazey's stories convey an unwavering belief that everyone deserves to be loved for exactly who they are. It makes my heart happy.
I don't have ADHD, but two of my kids do. The conversations around Lizzie's ADHD, both in her own words and in the words of those people who love her stopped me in my tracks more than once. Once again- it's helped me be a better source of support for those people I love

I find that some of the most interesting books are the ones that put me in the mindset of characters I’m nothing like. I don’t have much in common with Lizzie, so I found it to be fascinating to read a book that helped me understand why someone like her acts the way they do. She’s fun, vibrant and sexy, but also a little messy. (Kind of like the song “She Used to Be Mine” from Waitress - which coincidentally is also about a woman who is pregnant and bakes.) This is my second Mazey Eddings book (after a Brush With Love), and I feel like she does such a great job of writing unique characters and helping us understand their struggles. Kudos to her to putting a face to disorders that otherwise remain faceless. This book maybe had a little too many sexual innuendos for my taste, but I do appreciate that it was true to Lizzie’s character. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book!

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistakes is a companion novel set in the same world as A Brush with Love, but featuring Lizzie. And Lizzie stole my heart almost immediately. I loved how honest and unfiltered she is, but also how her vulnerability lies under the surface. How vibrant and colorful she is in every aspect of her being. While I adored Harper, Lizzie very quickly stole the show for me. And Lizzie Blake's Best Mistakes is dual POV. I do love when a romance book is dual POV because we get to experience falling in love two times.
Don't get me wrong. I love how committed, protective, and caring Rake is. My poor hug deprived and hurting Rake. But Lizzie was 100% my favorite no questions. Their chemistry is sizzling from the very beginning, but it's also full of that delight and joy of an inexplicable connection. When someone is so quickly able to challenge what we thought about ourselves, to make us feel terrifying and intoxicating feelings.

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This has some pretty cute moments and I did enjoy the ADHD representation. I’ve never struggled with ADHD myself, but I can identify with Lizzie’s abundance of energy and being often told when I was growing up that I was “too much”. It’s funny how “too much” can often be felt as not enough. I loved how patient and kind Rake was with Lizzie and how he supported her and believe in her when she didn’t believe in herself.
That being said, the pacing was weird for me - the beginning and ending both felt a little rushed and a tad unbelievable. But maybe that was just part of the whole whirlwind romance of it all. A little unrealistic, but once we got into it I could at least somewhat enjoy the ride. I think most people will really find this one easy to read and very endearing.

“if yellow was a sound, he thought, it would be her laugh.” My heart BEATS for this book. The main character reminded me a little of Olivia from Mr. Wrong Number just bc they are both hot messes. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and reading a book about a character with it was very self-affirming.

I had previously read A Brush With Love, and while I didn't instantly fall in love with the book I did enjoy the writing style enough to know that I wanted to read another book by Mazey Eddings. When this popped up on Net Galley, I requested it instantly and was excited to be given the opportunity to read it. I didn't even read the synopsis, which is perfect because I don't think I would have requested it. Normally, I'm not a big fan of the pregnancy trope in books but I found myself falling in love with this book, Rake, and Lizzie. I love their opposites attract banter and the silliness found within their blooming relationship. Rake is my favorite type of hero, who finds himself letting go of his sternness around the free-spirited, Lizzie.

I AM A WHORE FOR THE PREGNANCY TROPE AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT IT!! Now that J got that out of the way, this book was amazing. I think I loved this book even more than ABWL which is pretty great seeing that I loved that book as well. Since it’s still pretty far out from publication, I won’t say too much about the plot other than what the author has said. But I will say that there is face-sitting like 20 pages in and pretty great ADHD rep.

Readers are going to fall in love with Lizzie and Rake’s story in Mazey Eddings’ second book. The first few chapters are a bit steamy, but after those chapters the book settled into a really great read. The author addressed mental health issues with in-depth knowledge and sensitivity that it gives one a better appreciation of the hidden struggles of individuals with these issues and a judgmental public, relatives, employers, close friends or even one's parent. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from A Brush with Love and the sustained strong friendship among the group.

My laugh tears in my eyes blended in my ugly tears: I’m an emotional wreck ball keep circulating, banging against the wall!
I truly loved Mazey Eddings’ debut novel and so happy to move to the sequel for reading Lizzie’s story!
Lizzie: feeling too much, expressing too much, saying everything aloud comes into her mind, too straightforward, fireball, dealing with her ADHD by running away from attachments, experienced in hookups!
Rake: Aussie charm, a lord jumped out from Julia Quinn novels, emotionally unavailable because of his baggages from past!
Their unplanned two nights stands turn into unplanned, shocking pregnancy! Could they team up for this challenge? Could they be good parents?
Their story starts impactful with sudden meeting at the bar, a big fight, cavalier tendencies of Rake meets Lizzie’s I’m big girl I can protect myself against the abuse!
It’s definitely unconventional, different and messy kind of love story! But the smart and dark humor behind it and the author’s caring attitude around characters’ emotional breakdowns, her sensitive approach to mental illness and intimate relationship problems were fascinating!
Both of the flawed, broken MCs were so much lovable!
I couldn’t put it down! I cried! I snickered! I sighed! I got furious! I soothed! I giggled! This story brought out so many emotions I’d buried!
Definitely recommended!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/ St. Martin’s Griffin for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.
