4.5⭐️// Mazey Eddings #1 fan thank u NetGalley for the advanced copy of this gem of a book I am forever indebted to u

Engaging and clever novel and thoroughly enjoyable. Lizzie has adult ADHD and her mind is a whirlwind of thoughts and it is hard for her to stay on task. She meets Rake and a two day fling ends with her pregnant. Rake is completely smitten with all of Lizzie, especially her mind. Their adventure in love-its trials and joys- is an excellent story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved the different take on a story line it's fun to read and and hard to read at the same time cause you can imagine what lizzie is going through adhd is a hard one I know from experience I loved that rake was so kind and understanding most of the time it was a really sweet story

Wow, wow, wow! Lizzie Blake is my favorite female main character of all time. She is such a strong person, who learns to manager her ADHD while being thrust into a co-parenting relationship with her hot baby daddy Rake. Their connection just pulled on my heart strings. They're so opposite at first but the more you learn about them, the more you realize they're so alike. The bakery plot line was so hilarious and I loved how much this book made me laugh. 10/10 recommend!

Thanks to @stmartinspress and @netgalley I was able to devour 𝐋𝐈𝐙𝐙𝐈𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐊𝐄'𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄 (Pub 9.6.22). I fell in love with @mazeyeddings debut, A Brush with Love. and could not wait until closer to the pub date to read her sophomore effort.

I love seeing more books with neurodiverse characters. It's important to see those real-life components reflected back to us authentically in fiction. But even more than that, I love how Mazey's stories convey an unwavering belief that everyone deserves to be loved for exactly who they are. It makes my heart happy.
I don't have ADHD, but two of my kids do. The conversations around Lizzie's ADHD, both in her own words and in the words of those people who love her stopped me in my tracks more than once. Once again- it's helped me be a better source of support for those people I love

I find that some of the most interesting books are the ones that put me in the mindset of characters I’m nothing like. I don’t have much in common with Lizzie, so I found it to be fascinating to read a book that helped me understand why someone like her acts the way they do. She’s fun, vibrant and sexy, but also a little messy. (Kind of like the song “She Used to Be Mine” from Waitress - which coincidentally is also about a woman who is pregnant and bakes.) This is my second Mazey Eddings book (after a Brush With Love), and I feel like she does such a great job of writing unique characters and helping us understand their struggles. Kudos to her to putting a face to disorders that otherwise remain faceless. This book maybe had a little too many sexual innuendos for my taste, but I do appreciate that it was true to Lizzie’s character. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book!

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistakes is a companion novel set in the same world as A Brush with Love, but featuring Lizzie. And Lizzie stole my heart almost immediately. I loved how honest and unfiltered she is, but also how her vulnerability lies under the surface. How vibrant and colorful she is in every aspect of her being. While I adored Harper, Lizzie very quickly stole the show for me. And Lizzie Blake's Best Mistakes is dual POV. I do love when a romance book is dual POV because we get to experience falling in love two times.
Don't get me wrong. I love how committed, protective, and caring Rake is. My poor hug deprived and hurting Rake. But Lizzie was 100% my favorite no questions. Their chemistry is sizzling from the very beginning, but it's also full of that delight and joy of an inexplicable connection. When someone is so quickly able to challenge what we thought about ourselves, to make us feel terrifying and intoxicating feelings.

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This has some pretty cute moments and I did enjoy the ADHD representation. I’ve never struggled with ADHD myself, but I can identify with Lizzie’s abundance of energy and being often told when I was growing up that I was “too much”. It’s funny how “too much” can often be felt as not enough. I loved how patient and kind Rake was with Lizzie and how he supported her and believe in her when she didn’t believe in herself.
That being said, the pacing was weird for me - the beginning and ending both felt a little rushed and a tad unbelievable. But maybe that was just part of the whole whirlwind romance of it all. A little unrealistic, but once we got into it I could at least somewhat enjoy the ride. I think most people will really find this one easy to read and very endearing.

“if yellow was a sound, he thought, it would be her laugh.” My heart BEATS for this book. The main character reminded me a little of Olivia from Mr. Wrong Number just bc they are both hot messes. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD and reading a book about a character with it was very self-affirming.

I had previously read A Brush With Love, and while I didn't instantly fall in love with the book I did enjoy the writing style enough to know that I wanted to read another book by Mazey Eddings. When this popped up on Net Galley, I requested it instantly and was excited to be given the opportunity to read it. I didn't even read the synopsis, which is perfect because I don't think I would have requested it. Normally, I'm not a big fan of the pregnancy trope in books but I found myself falling in love with this book, Rake, and Lizzie. I love their opposites attract banter and the silliness found within their blooming relationship. Rake is my favorite type of hero, who finds himself letting go of his sternness around the free-spirited, Lizzie.

I AM A WHORE FOR THE PREGNANCY TROPE AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO ADMIT IT!! Now that J got that out of the way, this book was amazing. I think I loved this book even more than ABWL which is pretty great seeing that I loved that book as well. Since it’s still pretty far out from publication, I won’t say too much about the plot other than what the author has said. But I will say that there is face-sitting like 20 pages in and pretty great ADHD rep.

Readers are going to fall in love with Lizzie and Rake’s story in Mazey Eddings’ second book. The first few chapters are a bit steamy, but after those chapters the book settled into a really great read. The author addressed mental health issues with in-depth knowledge and sensitivity that it gives one a better appreciation of the hidden struggles of individuals with these issues and a judgmental public, relatives, employers, close friends or even one's parent. I enjoyed catching up with the characters from A Brush with Love and the sustained strong friendship among the group.

My laugh tears in my eyes blended in my ugly tears: I’m an emotional wreck ball keep circulating, banging against the wall!
I truly loved Mazey Eddings’ debut novel and so happy to move to the sequel for reading Lizzie’s story!
Lizzie: feeling too much, expressing too much, saying everything aloud comes into her mind, too straightforward, fireball, dealing with her ADHD by running away from attachments, experienced in hookups!
Rake: Aussie charm, a lord jumped out from Julia Quinn novels, emotionally unavailable because of his baggages from past!
Their unplanned two nights stands turn into unplanned, shocking pregnancy! Could they team up for this challenge? Could they be good parents?
Their story starts impactful with sudden meeting at the bar, a big fight, cavalier tendencies of Rake meets Lizzie’s I’m big girl I can protect myself against the abuse!
It’s definitely unconventional, different and messy kind of love story! But the smart and dark humor behind it and the author’s caring attitude around characters’ emotional breakdowns, her sensitive approach to mental illness and intimate relationship problems were fascinating!
Both of the flawed, broken MCs were so much lovable!
I couldn’t put it down! I cried! I snickered! I sighed! I got furious! I soothed! I giggled! This story brought out so many emotions I’d buried!
Definitely recommended!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/ St. Martin’s Griffin for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

"If yellow was a sound, he thought, it would be her laugh. Bright and booming warning and joyful. Different varieties ranging from sun beams and lemon zest ti the soft puffs of golden wattle."
Rake is perfect and I will take no arguments against that. It's safe to say that this is probably going to be a top 10 book of the year for me. I loved every single page, from the dedication to the author's note.
There is something about a book that just makes you feel. I want a book to provoke an emotion from me and this did just that. Not only do we get all of the emotions, but we also have a diverse set of characters and fantastic mental health representation.
Mazey Eddings has officially become one of my favorite authors and will forever be an auto-buy for me.

Charming!
Though I am not a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, I enjoyed reading the author’s debut novel, A Brush With Love, and was curious. While Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake did not overturn my dislike of the trope, I liked Lizzie and Rake very much and kept turning the pages to see how everything would turn out. Lizzie has ADHD and it was interesting to read about how that affects her thought process and behaviors - she was a dynamic and sympathetic character. Rake is a darling, despite the name.
This can be read as a standalone and if you have read A Brush With Love, Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake offers a glimpse at how Harper, Dan, Thu, and Indira are doing.
I recommend this to readers who enjoy romances with the opposites attract and accidental pregnancy tropes, stories set in Philadelphia, and creative baking.
Thank you very much to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I loved Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake from start to finish. It was so heartfelt, while covering so many difficult topics. Mazey Edding’s has a way with words, making you feel like you are right there alongside the characters.
Fun, energetic, and scattered Lizzie has a two-night stand with reserved Australian Rake. The two-night stand leads to a surprise pregnancy. I don’t think I’ve ever rooted so hard for two people to make it work!
Rake is my new favorite book boyfriend! He’s flawed, but he’s devoted! ❤️
Lizzie’s relationship with her mother really hit me hard too. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have a mom who wasn’t your biggest fan! My mom has always been my biggest cheerleader, no matter what! Everyone needs and deserves that kind of unconditional love!
Read this for:
❤️ Neurodiverse heroine- ADHD representation
❤️ Suggestive baked goods- all the pastry take will make you hungry
❤️ Hot Australian love interest- who doesn’t love an Aussie accent
Make sure you add Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake to your TBR list! Pub Date: Sept. 6, 2022
Thank you @netgalley, @mazeyeddings, and @stmartinspress for my advanced e-arc.

This is a book with angst, romance and unique and engaging characters.
Lizzie is truly unlike any character I have read before—the representation of her anxiety and ADHD was raw and real. Rake has his own issues with commitment and generally feeling disconnected and the way the two of them manage to make things work was satisfying to read.
They start as a fling, then have an unexpected twist that brings them together in a way neither of them could have predicted. They end up as partners in all the ways that matter. Rake truly has a tender way of caring for Lizzie and a respect for her as a person that really came through.
Accidental pregnancy is not a trope I’m particularly fond of, but it worked for this story.
Three and a half stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I didn’t think that I could love this book more than A Brush With Love. But here we are I guess. I am not usually a fan of the one night stand pregnancy trope into a relationship pipeline, but this was the exception for me. Lizzie is a messy woman with ADHD who is vibrant and full of life. She is loud and funny and a ray of sunshine. She also got knocked up by a man who lives in Australia. They make it work. Initially they are platonic partners (or as platonic as they can be), but they can’t stop the love they have for each other. This novel does a great job explaining ADHD to those who may not know what it looks like (I definitely WASN’T tearing up over feeling seen). It discusses RSD, time blindness, serial hobbying, forgetting about laundry, and the constant screwups we face. And Rake proceeds to love Lizzie, not just in spite of her ADHD. He smooths over her mistakes and picks up the things she drops. Rake stands up for Lizzie so many times and proves that he sees her for who she is. This is a great companion to A Brush With Love and made me come to adore Lizzie. As a woman with ADHD, I felt myself forgiving my own constant screwups and being a little more gentle with how I speak about myself. Do yourself a favor and read Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake when it’s published in September. Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Lizzie’s made many mistakes in her life. After losing another job because of her uncontrolled ADHD, she has a two-night stand with a hot Australian she meets at a bar. Rake’s already had his heart broken and has no interest in love or relationships, so after two nights with the unforgettable redhead, he heads back home to Australia. Weeks later, his life is uprooted when he gets a call from Lizzie and learns that she’s pregnant.
Mazey Eddings did it again. How did I love Lizzie and Rake even more than Harper and Dan?! This story was so beautifully written and achingly sweet. I laughed, I smiled, I cried, I felt angry and upset (on Lizzie’s behalf). Eddings has a unique way of depicting such deep and complex emotions and characters that are authentically flawed and relatable.
I appreciated the #ownvoices ADHD representation through Lizzie’s character and the overlying message that everyone deserves love. Lizzie’s mind is wonderfully chaotic, and it hurt to see how much she’s been mistreated because of her ADHD. While I don’t have ADHD, Lizzie’s relationship with her family resonated with me. One scene in particular between Lizzie and her mother really struck a chord, and I am so grateful that Eddings validates letting go of toxic family relationships. Lizzie’s personal growth throughout the book is inspiring and uplifting, and I absolutely adored her.
Rake is an angel. I loved how gentle and patient he was with Lizzie. The love in this book brings tears to my eyes 🥹 Rake and Lizzie aren’t interested in romance given the hurt they’ve endured in the past, but with unconditional support and understanding, they let down their walls with one another. It’s beautiful to witness, and the love they share is palpable.
I mentioned it in my review for A Brush with Love, and I’ll say it again: FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS 👏🏼 They are everything. Lizzie’s friend group are the kind of friends everyone needs: loving, supportive, hilarious, and honest.
Thank you so much NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC. Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is out on September 6th!

SPOILER ALERT (only a small one)
I've got to be honest, accidental pregnancy reads are rarely ever my thing but when done right they're so good and let me tell you, Mazey Eddings did it RIGHT.
This book was amazing, between Lizzie and her ADHD being so relatable and Rake and his tough romantic history this book is impossible not to fall in love with. The detail makes it feel like you're right there with the characters.
10 out of 10 do yourself a favor and read this as soon as you can. A huge huge thank you to st martins press for letting me get my hands on this gem, I'm incredibly grateful and I have found a new feel good read to come back to again and again.
