"If yellow was a sound, he thought, it would be her laugh. Bright and booming warning and joyful. Different varieties ranging from sun beams and lemon zest ti the soft puffs of golden wattle."
Rake is perfect and I will take no arguments against that. It's safe to say that this is probably going to be a top 10 book of the year for me. I loved every single page, from the dedication to the author's note.
There is something about a book that just makes you feel. I want a book to provoke an emotion from me and this did just that. Not only do we get all of the emotions, but we also have a diverse set of characters and fantastic mental health representation.
Mazey Eddings has officially become one of my favorite authors and will forever be an auto-buy for me.

Charming!
Though I am not a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, I enjoyed reading the author’s debut novel, A Brush With Love, and was curious. While Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake did not overturn my dislike of the trope, I liked Lizzie and Rake very much and kept turning the pages to see how everything would turn out. Lizzie has ADHD and it was interesting to read about how that affects her thought process and behaviors - she was a dynamic and sympathetic character. Rake is a darling, despite the name.
This can be read as a standalone and if you have read A Brush With Love, Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake offers a glimpse at how Harper, Dan, Thu, and Indira are doing.
I recommend this to readers who enjoy romances with the opposites attract and accidental pregnancy tropes, stories set in Philadelphia, and creative baking.
Thank you very much to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I loved Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake from start to finish. It was so heartfelt, while covering so many difficult topics. Mazey Edding’s has a way with words, making you feel like you are right there alongside the characters.
Fun, energetic, and scattered Lizzie has a two-night stand with reserved Australian Rake. The two-night stand leads to a surprise pregnancy. I don’t think I’ve ever rooted so hard for two people to make it work!
Rake is my new favorite book boyfriend! He’s flawed, but he’s devoted! ❤️
Lizzie’s relationship with her mother really hit me hard too. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have a mom who wasn’t your biggest fan! My mom has always been my biggest cheerleader, no matter what! Everyone needs and deserves that kind of unconditional love!
Read this for:
❤️ Neurodiverse heroine- ADHD representation
❤️ Suggestive baked goods- all the pastry take will make you hungry
❤️ Hot Australian love interest- who doesn’t love an Aussie accent
Make sure you add Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake to your TBR list! Pub Date: Sept. 6, 2022
Thank you @netgalley, @mazeyeddings, and @stmartinspress for my advanced e-arc.

This is a book with angst, romance and unique and engaging characters.
Lizzie is truly unlike any character I have read before—the representation of her anxiety and ADHD was raw and real. Rake has his own issues with commitment and generally feeling disconnected and the way the two of them manage to make things work was satisfying to read.
They start as a fling, then have an unexpected twist that brings them together in a way neither of them could have predicted. They end up as partners in all the ways that matter. Rake truly has a tender way of caring for Lizzie and a respect for her as a person that really came through.
Accidental pregnancy is not a trope I’m particularly fond of, but it worked for this story.
Three and a half stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I didn’t think that I could love this book more than A Brush With Love. But here we are I guess. I am not usually a fan of the one night stand pregnancy trope into a relationship pipeline, but this was the exception for me. Lizzie is a messy woman with ADHD who is vibrant and full of life. She is loud and funny and a ray of sunshine. She also got knocked up by a man who lives in Australia. They make it work. Initially they are platonic partners (or as platonic as they can be), but they can’t stop the love they have for each other. This novel does a great job explaining ADHD to those who may not know what it looks like (I definitely WASN’T tearing up over feeling seen). It discusses RSD, time blindness, serial hobbying, forgetting about laundry, and the constant screwups we face. And Rake proceeds to love Lizzie, not just in spite of her ADHD. He smooths over her mistakes and picks up the things she drops. Rake stands up for Lizzie so many times and proves that he sees her for who she is. This is a great companion to A Brush With Love and made me come to adore Lizzie. As a woman with ADHD, I felt myself forgiving my own constant screwups and being a little more gentle with how I speak about myself. Do yourself a favor and read Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake when it’s published in September. Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Lizzie’s made many mistakes in her life. After losing another job because of her uncontrolled ADHD, she has a two-night stand with a hot Australian she meets at a bar. Rake’s already had his heart broken and has no interest in love or relationships, so after two nights with the unforgettable redhead, he heads back home to Australia. Weeks later, his life is uprooted when he gets a call from Lizzie and learns that she’s pregnant.
Mazey Eddings did it again. How did I love Lizzie and Rake even more than Harper and Dan?! This story was so beautifully written and achingly sweet. I laughed, I smiled, I cried, I felt angry and upset (on Lizzie’s behalf). Eddings has a unique way of depicting such deep and complex emotions and characters that are authentically flawed and relatable.
I appreciated the #ownvoices ADHD representation through Lizzie’s character and the overlying message that everyone deserves love. Lizzie’s mind is wonderfully chaotic, and it hurt to see how much she’s been mistreated because of her ADHD. While I don’t have ADHD, Lizzie’s relationship with her family resonated with me. One scene in particular between Lizzie and her mother really struck a chord, and I am so grateful that Eddings validates letting go of toxic family relationships. Lizzie’s personal growth throughout the book is inspiring and uplifting, and I absolutely adored her.
Rake is an angel. I loved how gentle and patient he was with Lizzie. The love in this book brings tears to my eyes 🥹 Rake and Lizzie aren’t interested in romance given the hurt they’ve endured in the past, but with unconditional support and understanding, they let down their walls with one another. It’s beautiful to witness, and the love they share is palpable.
I mentioned it in my review for A Brush with Love, and I’ll say it again: FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS 👏🏼 They are everything. Lizzie’s friend group are the kind of friends everyone needs: loving, supportive, hilarious, and honest.
Thank you so much NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC. Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is out on September 6th!

SPOILER ALERT (only a small one)
I've got to be honest, accidental pregnancy reads are rarely ever my thing but when done right they're so good and let me tell you, Mazey Eddings did it RIGHT.
This book was amazing, between Lizzie and her ADHD being so relatable and Rake and his tough romantic history this book is impossible not to fall in love with. The detail makes it feel like you're right there with the characters.
10 out of 10 do yourself a favor and read this as soon as you can. A huge huge thank you to st martins press for letting me get my hands on this gem, I'm incredibly grateful and I have found a new feel good read to come back to again and again.

This book give me all the buz and I so totally loved it. The author really do write the unique heroines that are not only relatable also super entertaining. Also, I really liked the writing style. I was hooked on to it since the very beginning and loved every minute of it.

i found both lizzie and rake to be extremely frustrating people and i don’t believe in their love. like they’re both just very horny and that’s it

Really enjoyed following Lizzie and Rake as their lives change forever from their two-night-stand. Lizzie has untreated ADHD and often feels like her brain works against her. Though her family and previous employers misinterpret this and assume she is lazy, Lizzie puts a lot of effort into conforming to neurotypical standards, such as not forgetting things and to sticking to schedules. It’s not her fault that her neurodiverse brain doesn’t easily fit society’s strict mold of neurotypical behavior. But years reactions to her being ‘late’ and ‘forgetful’ and ‘different’ have chipped away at her confidence and self-esteem.
Her closest friends see the real Lizzie, and so does Rake. He is instantly understanding and supportive of Lizzie, and he’s fascinated and curious about how her mind works. Rake is drawn to her energy, enthusiasm, and creativity and appreciates the way her mind interprets the world around them.
Though they set out to be platonic co-parents who live together, their biggest challenge becomes fighting their attraction to one another.
This wonderful rom-com can be enjoyed by Adult Contemporary and Romance readers, and also upper Young Adult Contemporary readers. The characters are in their mid-twenties and juggle their careers with family expectations and interference by hilariously nosey friends. There are lots of relatable moments for neurodiverse readers whose brains don’t work the same way neurotypicals’ brains do.

All of my expectations for this book were blown away. It took some time to warm up to Lizzie but I never expected to relate to her as much as did. God bless Mazey Eddings for her neurodivergent representation. I’m also a sucker for a good pregnancy troupe (though I found myself wishing for some heads up).

I loved this book! Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of “Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake.” This is the second book in the series, but can very much be enjoyed as a stand alone. Lizzie and Rake intend to have a brief, one time fling, but things do not go exactly as planned. I enjoyed their sweet and sexy love story, as their relationship moves from strangers to awkward roommates to friends to lovers. The reader really feels the connection between the couple, and the supporting characters are very well developed. The cover is beautiful and reflects the tone of the story. Overall, I am so glad I found Lizzie and Rake and I highly recommend this book!

Unexpected pregnancy after a one night stand + a slow burn romance = tropes that work really well in this book.
Love this story about Lizzie and Rake written as a dual POV. Their chemistry is amazing and the story made me laugh. I really enjoyed reading about a main character diagnosed with ADHD.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback. Watch for this book to come out on September 6, 2022!

Lizzie Marie Blake, you are the sun and utterly wonderful. "𝙄𝙛 𝙮𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙, 𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝." 💛 What a great character!
LBBM gives us such a great glimpse into the life and realities of a neurodiverse person, with Lizzie having ADHD. I so loved watching Lizzie's journey, with herself and with Rake. And Rake, well, I adored him too. He was the partner she needed and deserved. He wasn't perfect, but that's a detail I actually appreciated.
Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake comes out on September 6, and I hope you add it to your TBR!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

Lizzie Blake is one of the most unique and bright female MCs I've read about. I love how she embraces her quirky, weird side and doesn't care about the opinions of others (even with a rough childhood). Rake was an intriguing main character. I liked the fact that his love language was being supportive, even towards the end with the conflict. Speaking about the conflict, I thought it was unnecessary and predictable. This book could have been shorter, and still deliver its story. There were many parts that dragged for me and really didn't hold my attention for long before I got bored.
The unexpected pregnancy trope is usually a hit/miss for me, and unfortunately, it was a miss. I didn't feel the deep connection between Lizzie and Rake, and at times, it felt more like lust than love. I didn't particularly feel a connection to the characters either.
Still, I loved the friendship dynamic and the heartwarming epilogue.
We should always have more neurodiverse books because ADHD in this book was not romanticized and was told in a way that helped me understand it enough to differentiate between truth and stigma. I plan to read more about ADHD after this. I look forward to more books in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
(Will post review on Instagram closer to the release date, but the review is available on Goodreads)

Love a book that is filled with romance, twists and true angst? Then you'll love this story!
The two main characters - each with their own fears of commitment and inability to connect on a romantic level with another person - find themselves at the right place at the right time. Starting out as just another fling, these two find themselves in a rather sticky situation when Lizzie finds out that she is pregnant. The man she had a weekend fling with is brought back into her in a way she never expected - a true partner. It's a great story of two people coming together over something unexpected and finding a true, happily ever after.

𝘓𝘪𝘻𝘻𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘦'𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 is a love letter to people who have never fit in a 'normal' societal box. It is a raw and beautiful story that illustrates the reality of a neurodiverse person and their journey to unashamedly claiming their space in the world.
Lizzie is in her late-twenties and is always the life of a the party. She knows how to have a great time and has a friend group she would die for. While she feels deeply; one thing she won’t allow herself to do is fall in love. Having spent her entire childhood hearing how she was “too much” and being taken from one psychiatrist to the next in an attempt to wrangle her personality and ADHD, she’s determined that burdening a romantic partner with her love is just not something she’s willing to do.
Just because Lizzie won’t allow herself to fall in love, doesn’t mean she lives a lonely, romance-free life. In fact, she loves sex and the comfort physical closeness brings her. As far as she’s concerned, she will have no problem spending her life enjoying one-night stands with zero attachments.
It’s all going according to plan until she meets Rake — a mysterious, sexy, emotionally unavailable (𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦) Australian that is visiting her city. They are both content with a one-night-turned-two-nights-stand and never seeing each other again…until they receive news that will change their lives irrevocably and bind them forever. Will they be able to break down their walls and create an unshakeable partnership or will their mutual fear of intimacy and emotional connection keep them at arm’s length indefinitely?
Filled with more personal growth than I can describe, incredibly written (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭) steamy moments, and a well-paced love story, 𝘓𝘪𝘻𝘻𝘪𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘬𝘦'𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 is must-read for contemporary romance-lovers.

These two fit together so well in this one night stand novel! I adore Lizzie and love how she overcomes her challenges in life. She has a one night stand with a handsome Aussie of a man and it was her best mistake yet. I thoroughly enjoy a story where I am cheering for both of the characters the entire story and this was it. They balance each other in the best of ways and their story made me smile the entire time. It's a a fun, steamy, low angst read that will have you flipping pages!

I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD and this book spoke to my soul. I do not have it as severely as the main character, but the feelings surrounding rejection and the busy brain was described exactly how I’ve experienced. The author either has ADHD, knows someone intimately that does or did some outstanding research. What I love about this book is that it is not just an adorable romcom with a cute plot, but a book with a character that represents so many people in this world.
I got really attached to these characters. Lizzie is not just relatable, but hilarious. I love the development we get to see when she becomes more confident with her ADHD and starts to believe in herself. What makes a good book as well is that the side characters were interesting, even her new boss.
The plot wasn’t very unique, but it had a lot of the popular tropes that I do enjoy reading.
The only part I struggled with is some of the sexual content was over the top. If a lot of talk about sexual activities and parts bothers you, you may want to stay away from this book.
Overall, I’d recommend it to certain audiences and I’m looking up the authors other book to read.

I loved this book! This book made me laugh and cry, and I very rarely cry at any book, TV show, or movie. I saw a lot of myself in Lizzie. Thank you Mazey Eddings for writing this book, because I saw a lot of myself in Lizzie, which in a world where we’re often told to “calm down” or act normal, this book made me feel like not being what society wants is okay.
