The first 5 chapters of this book promise everyone's fave British boyfriend, Luc and the buttoned-up emotional maelstrom of Oliver are still the adorable grumpy-sunshine, opposites-attract couple we love to love. Hall nails Luc's wry, quirky, delightfully self-serving voice once again. Can't wait to read the rest!

This sneak peak at the first 5 chapters of Husband Material was a delightful window into where Luc & Oliver’s story (from Boyfriend Material) is 2 years into their relationship.
Lucien bumps into his life derailing ex, who is getting married and now Luc has to make the decision about if he wants to attend the event and prove that be really is over it and very happy with his extremely handsome barrister boyfriend.

Alexis Hall has a unique talent of making all the side character voices unique and interesting and often leaving me interested enough to read whole book of their story.

Can’t wait for the rest!

I am very excited to read about these characters again! I can not wait to read the book in it's entirety. This was such a tease, I don't know how long I can wait for the whole book.

Ugh! This preview pulled me RIGHT BACK into Luc's helter-skelter narration of absolutely adorable run-on sentences, and inconceivable coincidences. Luc is the most mannered man I've had the delight to read, which is why it came as no surprise that his money-grubbing ex slithers in to create more drama on the eve of what seems to be Luc's grown adulthood. He's FINALLY in a long-term stable relationship, and helping his bestie celebrate a wedding.

So, obviously, the time is ripe for Luc's complete world to go pear-shaped.

My only frustration was it being a preview. I want the ENTIRE BOOK. But, I'll wait patiently. Because. Well, everything I've ever read from this author--including his live-tweets of Moby Dick--has been delightful and worth the wait.

There are only 5 chapters in the preview, but Alexis Hall has managed to make me laugh, and almost cry already. It was honestly so enjoyable to return to these characters, and it felt like nothing had changed - I love them now, just as much as ever. The first 5 chapters set up the rest of the story very nicely, introducing a few different potential plotlines and bringing in the "antagonist" of the story. Even though this was only a preview, it has me gripped. I don't know if I will manage to wait until August to read the rest of the book! I need to find out what happens next ASAP!

I can already tell that this is going to be better than Boyfriend Material.

I love Boyfriend Material and I'm sure going to love Husband Material, this preview is so great! Although the MC are in a different place from the previous book, you can see they are the same, Luc is haunted by his insecurities and Oliver is.... Oliver ❤.
Alexis Hall makes magic with words and I can't wait to read the whole book!!!

Thank you NetGally for letting me preview the first 5 chapters in this book. This book by Alexis Hall reminds me of Red, White & Royal Blue that I read last year. Such a cute story between a great couple trying to help their friends get through frustrating times.

This was exactly what I wanted to read right now. Alexis Hall's sitting and charming rom-com style writing is what made this an utter delight to read. It was great seeing Luc and Oliver again. Can't wait to read the rest.

Very excited to read Husband Material, and these first 5 chapters were a delightful sneak peak! Luc and Oliver and all the supporting cast are as adorable and snarky as in Boyfriend Material. Luc and Oliver seem solidly together but still messy and vulnerable about their feelings. I’m happy to see that this picks up some threads and themes from the first book and look forward to reading the rest of the book!

Eeek!!! I am so excited for this!!! Thank you so much to NetGalley for a free sneak peak!! One of my favorite books I read last year! I cannot wait till I get my hands on the finished copy!

A really great reminder of why I loved these characters so much in the first book! Luc and Oliver are still hilarious, still a mess, and still really sweet and understanding. The tension stemming from weddings and relationships outside of the main couple makes an effective hook. I am super excited to read this book in August!

The first five chapters of Husband Material are completely and utterly perfect and I cannot believe I have to wait three more months before I can read the rest of it. I loved all the slices of characters from the first book and, of course, am totally obsessed with everything about Oliver and Luc.

Ok, so I joined Netgalley solely to get my eyes on the preview chapters of Husband Material. Which means I have signed away my first review. It was so worth it. Husband Material continues in the vein of Boyfriend Material, funny, poignant and incredibly enjoyable. I wish I could read all of it NOW. While Alexis Hall is one of my favorite authors, I put off reading Boyfriend Material because something about the cover put me off, maybe it looked too royal? It's not, and conveniently by delaying reading BM, the sequel was being prepared for publication. Go me.
I don't think I can give away any spoilers since I can only access the first 5 chapters,-- but we get to meet the mythical Miles in the first chapter. And while Luc initially deals with the encounter in his usual manner, he has grown enough to recover and disrupt the cycle of blowing up his relationships.
Oliver and Luc have matured individually and within their relationship, but they are still funny and Luc is still adult challenged. Their emotional resilience is tested when Luc is forced into a no win decision and we are left waiting to learn the ramifications for their relationship. Cannot wait until it comes out.

NEED FULL BOOK ASAP!!! Luc and Oliver are just so *chefs kiss* and I cannot wait to see more of them in Husband Material! When I heard that Boyfriend Material was going to have a sequel I was so excited but also nervous because I thought Boyfriend Material ended so beautifully. But this preview has me so excited to read more!! I absolutely adore how Luc and Oliver get on together and seeing them two years after Boyfriend Material and how they have grown together is perfection. I can't wait to see how this story progresses and how Luc and Oliver continue to grow together!! August 2 please come faster!!

I am honestly so hyped for this!
Sequels are always kind of scary with this kind of book, where the first book had a nice ending, but judging from the preview of the first few chapters, this will be amazing!
I mean, I really kin Luc, so of course I'm going to love his dumb, anxious ass no matter what he does, but yeah... This preview has only increased my hype.

5⭐️ WOW!! I need more after reading those first 5 chapters of this upcoming book! I had absolutely missed Luc and Oliver so getting to read this brought warmth to my heart. It’s very important to me that the first few chapter of a book hook me and this did exactly that!

Luc is at a moment in his life with metaphorical scissors poised over the threads that tie him to his old life. Is he ready to let go of that toxic ex who trashed his reputation, or does he have unfinished business? Is he sure he wants to settle down and put Oliver first in his life, even if that means boring text exchanges about table lamps? How is he supposed to handle it when his BFF Bridge needs a shoulder to cry on, but Oliver has tickets to Pretty Woman The Musical? There's so much more to romance after that first infatuation, and I love this exploration of post-happily-ever-after. Definitely need more than this teaser, though.

Reading this sample of Husband Material without having read Boyfriend Material is technically possible, but feels a bit like walking into an already-raging party full of strangers. Everyone's like, "Hey! You made it! Come say hi to Luc and Oliver and Miles and Bridge and Priya and omg, have you met JoJo yet? Put on this crazy bachelorette party hat, grab a glowstick, and let's gooooo!" And you feel totally overwhelmed and four drinks behind everyone, but it isn't long before you realize these people are genuinely awesome and you'll have no trouble partying with your new friends. And they will be your new friends, because even this glimpse is enough to introduce you to a cast of characters that is SO lovable. And you'll definitely want to see how this plays out.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing a copy of this five-chapter preview in exchange for my honest review.

THIS WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH,.. I NEED MORE. I NEED MORE NOW. THIS WAS NOT FAIR. This is like giving a child one potato chip and being like that's all you get for now. It's cruel and mean. Now give us this book. The writing is chef kisses. Alexis Hall does it again. CAN NOT WAIT TO BUY THIS BAD BOY.
