Only the first five chapters so far but I'm really interested to see how this book is going to unfold. In Boyfriend Material we saw Oliver and Luc really learn about each other through one of my favourite trends (the fake dating trope) and now we get to see them two years later pretty well knowing each other. We see Luc knowing details about what his boyfriend does and doesn't want to hear in jokes and it was fun.

The little snippet was enough to make me wonder if we are going to see more of their friends and if the balance between being there for your friends and being there for your partner gets harder once you look into a further commitment. I will be buying the full book once it's released.

So excited for this! A perfect sneak peek into a sequel I’m so invested in! Can’t wait to read the whole thing.

This refers to the whole book as I was able to read an entire ARC - OH MY GOD THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. I laughed out loud waking my husband more than once in the middle of the night because I couldn't put it down. But for all the laughs there's an equal amount of realistic feelings of doubt and uncertainty that comes along with any committed relationship. I just love Luc & Oliver and Alexis Hall hits a home-run with their story. I wish it was coming out sooner than August because I want my library patrons to get their hands on this book!

Thank you for the ARC NetGalley!

This review is for the first five chapters only.

I’m wary of sequels, especially when it follows a book I absolutely loved. There’s the matter of your beloved characters staying true to themselves and the author writing in the same style. Also, will the plot be just as engaging as the first? Will it give me those butterfly feelings again? The bar is “too damn high” meme.

So far, Husband Material seems promising.
Luc, Oliver, and company are still the same yet there’s definitely growth so it doesn’t feel stagnant. I don’t want to write too much since I haven’t read enough but I will say, each time another chapter break came, I was disappointed because I was that much closer to getting to the end of the sample. I can’t wait for release in August and will definitely update more then.

Boyfriend Material was absolutely fantastic, and this preview promises that Husband Material will be equally so. The characters are constant and fantastic. The plot set-up is already incredibly compelling, even in the first five chapters. I am so excited to read the rest of this book, and cannot wait for it to release.

This was only the first five chapters and reading it might have been a mistake because NOW I CAN"T STOP THINKING ABOUT HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THE WHOLE BOOK. The first few chapters absolutely lived up to the first book, with its funny tone, interested characters, and awkward moments. I can not wait for the rest.

I have loved reading Boyfriend Material. It was funny and cute and sometimes sad and just overall perfectly well written.

The first five chapters of Husband Material turned out to be just as good. The story continues two years after Boyfriend Material. Oliver is still just perfect, Luc is still funny and insecure.

While the story is evolving more into weddings and other grown up stuff, the humor stays the same. I especially adored the interaction between Luc and Alex. Every time it's just hilarious!

I knew that I shouldn't torture myself by reading the first five chapters, but I couldn't resist, and I was right - it did leave me wanting more. The first book in the series, "Boyfriend Material" had me laughing out loud and became one of my favorite comfort reads, and one of my favorite books to recommend to others, so I was so excited to get a peek into Luc and Oliver's world two years on and see how they are doing. But, wow did the finish of chapter five leave me with so many questions. I'm going to try not to think too hard about how far away August is!

Boyfriend Material was very much a spur of the moment read, which I entered with some trepidation - contemporary romance rarely works for me - but I was blown away with how much I enjoyed it.

This was more of the same, filled with humour and ridiculousness. All of the characters come through perfectly, feeling very much like a slice of real life. The writing is sharp, and the plot seems to be coming together in a way that I expect will hurt me before it gets better.

Very much looking forward to reading the full book!

The first Book in the series is absolutely one of my favorite reads of last year and maybe ever so I was really excited to get the first couple chapters of book 2. This book is definitely seeming to be full of lots of humor and hijinks and it is really cool to see the development of the relationship between the two main characters in the couple of years since book one occurred. I think that this story is going to be very popular with readers who liked the first book.

This series is so unbelievably sweet and I'm so thankful to get the chance to read a preview of the first five chapters. I adored Boyfriend Material, and it's refreshing to know that Oliver & Luc are much the same characters in Husband Material (something that doesn't always happen across multiple volumes of romance series). I can't wait for the full release!!! Thank you to the publisher & author for the opportunity to read these first few chapters!

OMG I was sooo happy to being offered the opportunity to have a glance into the first five chapters of the sequel to Boyfriend Material !

Luc and Oliver were so cute and still are. Now they're just witnessing their friends and ex getting married (not together ;) ) and the question is : will they too ???

I just can't wait to read the whole book once it's out in August 2022.

Thank you to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for providing an (unfortunately too short ;) ) eARC in exchange of an honest review.

I absolutely, positively adored this sneak peek into Husband Material. I was completely smitten with it and cannot wait for the full story.

At the end I just placed my hand to my chest and sighed a sweet, contented sigh.

I adore the writing style Hall has, it is witty and full of intellectual banter. The banter in this book is not less amazing. The absolutely insane and always comical situations our characters find themselves in leads to such enjoyment of their stories. I left this preview very invested in what will happen in Oliver and Luc's story!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this preview copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

So so good! I have been waiting for Husband Material for so long, and these 5 chapters just made me want to read the whole book even more!

I had a chance to read this while waiting for an appointment, and this preview was perfect. It was so nice to revisit familiar characters from Boyfriend Material and see what they've been up to. I am pleased to report that personalities are the same, which led to several zany mishaps within the first 5 chapters. Luc and Oliver have a strong relationship and work well together, but there's still plenty of "opposites attract" energy. I am so excited to read Husband Material!

If you loved Boyfriend Material, you're going to adore Husband Material. From the first page, I was already grinning like an idiot because of how utterly delighted I was to be back with Lucien and his ridiculous self - I mean this in the most loving way possible. Five chapters are way too few, I read them as soon as I could and I cannot wait for the entire book. Getting to see Lucien and Oliver again two years later when they're in a very different place to most of the previous book is wonderful, and I'm really excited to see where they're going to go.

Husband material is one of my most anticipated reads of 2022, as boyfriend material is one of my favourite romances. These first 5 chapters show that Husband Material will surely live up to the amazing work Alexis Hall has created so far. I can’t wait to get my hands onto the full version.
