I want to thank Netgalley and Simon&Schuster for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cass Walker was on her way home from taking the bar exam when she was in a car accident that put her in a coma. She wakes up with memories of her boyfriend, Devin, but quickly finds out that Devin doesn’t exist. According to her mother and best friend, Cass has never dated anyone named Devin. Heartbroken, she moves on and heals from her accident until a year later when she runs into…Devin. In real life.

Dream On by Angie Hockman is such a cute rom-com. The premise of the book was very interesting!

Things that I enjoyed about the book:
- so much talk about flowers 😍
- the character development of the main character
- how things come to light 🤔🤭
- the banter

This book reminded me a lot of the 1995 movie, While You Were Sleeping. Sandra Bullock is it, and I highly recommend it. A great 90s classic.

There was one part that I did not enjoy, and I thought it was not realistic. However, it doesn't play a significant role in the book.

4⭐

Thank you, NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada, for the advanced reader's copy.

This was JUST the contemporary romance I needed. This was a light romance and had me immediately hooked wanted to know how Cass dreamt up Devin. I thought the way Angie tied the story up was👌🏼 but I guess you’ll have to read it to find out what I mean 😏 having worked at a law firm in a past life I also felt connected to that aspect of the story (not a lawyer, but could relate). I’d recommend this book for any beach bag or vacation, a great summer romance (mostly taking place in the summer as well)!💐🌷🌸🌺🌹🌼

I loved Angie Hockman's first novel, Shipped, so I was thrilled to receive this ARC. I had high expectations going in, but was no disappointed. The premise of Dream On felt fresh and original. The story is full of fun surprises and I fell in love with the characters. This book is a must for romantics and dreamers alike!

Waking up from a six day coma and realizing the very real boyfriend you know is only one in your head, and in Cass' case a very vivid imagination until the day she comes face to face with him. Confusing situation, but truly a refreshing story with a few surprises along the way.
Written in a way to keep you interested and hoping things really work out for her.
Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and offer my honest opinion.

Dream On is a cute romcom which I absolutely enjoyed reading. I was enticed just from the synopsis alone! I kept on thinking what neurological phenomenon is this? Can we actually form false “memories” after a traumatic brain injury??? Well, you have to read this to find out!😂 Aside from the romance part of the story which made me swoony and starry-eyed, I also love that the book managed to convey the message that it is ok to have a job that people don’t normally consider a “success”or conventional, so long as it gives you joy and fulfillment. Likewise it is ok to let go of people’s expectations and follow your own dreams. Overall, this was a win-win book for me, plotwise and character-wise. Recommending this for your next beach read!

By far one of my favorite romcom covers of the year! I enjoyed this sweet and slightly magical romance featuring law student Cass and the man she dreams of while in a coma. A subtle While you were sleeping remake, Cass wakes up after a traumatic brain injury convinced she's in love with the man who seems so real. Fast forward a year and she runs into him at a charming flower shop in Cleveland. For his part Devin finds the whole idea a little strange but when Cass undeniably knows personal details about himself, he agrees to see where things might go.

What Cass didn't plan on is Devin's brother Perry and just how much chemistry there is with the one she didn't see coming. Fun and flirty and mostly PG (except for one steamy scene in the epilogue), this was a light-hearted, feel good romance that has Cass fighting to help save Perry's flower shop and figuring out who her true love really is. Recommended for fans of Hannah Orenstein's Meant to be mine or Lizzy Dent's The setup. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!

After finishing Dream On, I've now read and adored every book Angie Hockman has written. This book is a play on While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock, and having loved that movie, I easily picked up on a reference near the beginning of this novel!

I love how this book starts out as this blissful wake up scene, and then slowly turns into something so strange, as the dream slowly becomes reality. This gives such a whimsical air to the book, right from the get-go. Mind you, this book is not a fluffy read!

My feelings towards the male leads (Devin and Perry) ebbed and flowed right along with the protagonists. Never once did Cass' thoughts and mine not align, and this made me love her so much. With so many other books, I find myself cringing at decisions or outcomes after blow ups. Not in this book, and instead I found myself saying "yes, this is how this situation should be handled by a grown up!" Along with this, Cass wasn't looking for Devin to be anything he wasn't actually going to be - she's such a strong female character, not reliant on a man, even the man of her dreams!

I forgot how well Hockman describes her settings, and how well she presents ideas that could be overwhelming or confusing. It's clear to see Hockman's background in both law and eco-tourism are on display in the books she writes, with a teachers mind making the information digestible to the reader.

In summery, yes, I will continue to read whatever Hockman puts out - I'm a fan!

4.5/5 stars

Dream On is a contemporary romance set in Cleveland. It is my first book by this author.

The narrator is 26 year old Cass (1st person POV). The book begins with her waking up from a coma. She wakes up with vivid memories of her boyfriend Devin only to find out that nobody in her life has ever heard of him.

She has a law degree and a year later she is spending the summer at the law offices where she was originally hired. She goes into a flower shop and comes across someone who looks exactly like the Devin that she dreamed about.

I adored this premise and was so excited to find out how this was even possible. The author did an amazing job of writing a unique and fun story.

The book went in some unexpected directions and had some good reveals. As I was reading the book I wondered if there was going to be an explanation for her memories. I loved that I could not understand how she had the memories. But I was hoping that there would be a satisfying explanation. And to me there was one.

This book had an amazing supportive best friend. And the romance did not go as I was expecting it to go. This book was honestly nothing like I was expecting.

Overall I really enjoyed Dream On. However there was a scene in the epilogue that did not fit with the rest of the book IMO. But I still really loved this premise and the author's amazing creativity.

Dream On by Angie Hockman

At the cottage this weekend I just really wanted an easy read, something to escape into. I randomly selected Dream On from my e-reader because the cover was delightfully cute and appeared pretty low stakes. This one delivered a cute rom com filled with flowers and an engaging plot. After a car accident, Cass wakes up from a coma with many memories of her boyfriend Devin Bloom. She quickly finds out that actually there is no boyfriend. She’s shaken, her memories are so vivid. When she runs into him months & months later, they end up hitting it off.. is it fate?

I wasn’t a fan of Shipped, this author’s debut romance. Dream On felt a lot more original to me, with a fresh premise and likeable characters. I really enjoyed all the cutesy details, like the flower shop setting and resident dog. This read like a cheesy movie in all the best ways.

There’s a few things I really disliked I wanted to mention. There’s a plot line involving a fake pregnancy that was really unnecessary and may be really hurtful to many readers. I also felt the epilogue was really off the mark, as it didn’t fit the tone of the rest of the book, with a jarring steamy scene and rapid resolution to the plot.

Overall, I liked this romance but could have done without the epilogue and the fake pregnancy. For when you’re in the mood for a reads-like-movie book 🍿 Happy pub day to Dream On! Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It’s no secret that Angie Hockman’s debut novel Shipped was one of my favourite books of 2021, so when Simon & Schuster Canada sent me an advanced digital copy of Dream On via NetGalley, I was so thrilled.

While the plot of Dream On is wildly different than Shipped, I still loved it. This was a sweet, slow burn romance. I thought that the premise was super interesting, Cass woke up from a coma vividly remembering a man she claims to be dating, although in reality they had never met. Almost a year later she meets this man by chance and he believes her wild story.

I loved Cass, how resilient she was in the wake of her accident, and truly listened to her gut. I had mixed feelings on Devin throughout, but in the end I did really like him. Perry was the sweetest *insert heart eyes*, he was supportive of Cass and respected all her choices and decisions. The rest of the side characters were quirky and supportive (minus Roger), I even ended up like Mercedes in the end.

This was a sweet story of fate and how it works in mysterious ways in real life, and while there were some twists, Angie Hockman, handled a sort of love triangle delicately, the ending was just the sweetest *swoon*. Dream On has definitely put Angie Hockman in my auto buy author category!

Happy Pub day to Dream On by Angie Hockman! And thank you to @simonschusterca for the advance digital review copy so I could read and review in advance of publication.
Dream on is the story about Cass, a young woman that recently passed the bar exam, who manifests her dream man while in a coma.

This book was an easy read, full of likeable characters. I was amused that Cass is so booksmart (lawyer, etc), but still manages to make completely ridiculous decisions (violating client privilege to help the man she likes) and not figure out what's going on around here (putting two and two together about why her co-worker is acting weird - which was immediately clear to me).

I went into the book completely blind, I wasn't sure how it the story would resolve itself. Some elements were very predictable, but the end resolution wasn't as 'out there' as I was hoping it would be.

One element i particularly enjoyed happened outside of the romance - as the story progressed Cass struggled with being a lawyer. Cass working her through her feelings and what she wanted out of her career / life after all her work to become a lawyer felt realistic, and mirrors what I've seen some friends go through.

Overall I really enjoyed this book - 3.5 stars rounded.

Dream On has a unique premise, and I was intrigued by the prologue where Cass wakes up from a coma thinking she has a boyfriend named Devin, but she doesn’t actually seem to know him.

Spoilers -

I really liked Cass and following along on her journey post accident as she figured out what really made her happy. Perry was also likeable and I enjoyed the initial grumpy-sunshine dynamic the two had going. I wish we could have had a little more banter.

Marcus and Brie were also fun, interesting side characters and I hope for a spin-off with their story… *fingers crossed*
(I also wished for a little more friend talk between Cass and Brie though)

The love triangle was okay, but I didn’t really buy Cass not knowing her feelings early on. It felt like Devin was walking this line of jerk but also nice, so we could understand why Cass was interested but also why she broke up with him. I wanted more Cass and Perry!! Also, the plot line with Devins ex-girlfriend was too extreme in my opinion. I appreciated that there was a reference to counselling in the epilogue though.

At points, there were too many storylines going on, as it felt like oh yeah, Cass has short term memory issues so she forgets the dogs name, yet is killing it at her summer lawyer job. It didn’t really make sense? In the end, it felt like a lot of things had to be wrapped up and it made for some abrupt scene changes in the chapters (although I’m not sure if it will be formatted differently in the final copy).

Overall though, this was a fun, summer read and I binged this book in a weekend. It’s a good one to add to your beach bag!

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon Schuster Canada for providing me with a digital advanced reader's copy of Dream On in exchange for an honest review..

I've rounded this up to a 4-star, but it's sitting more at the 3.5 mark.

The overall premise of Dream On is incredible. Cass is in a car accident and has been in a coma for six days. While in a coma, she dreams about her boyfriend, Devon. The problem, of course, is that Cass doesn't have a boyfriend called Devon. Cass doesn't have a boyfriend at all. So after waking up from her coma and spending months believing Devon isn't real, Cass can't believe her eyes when she sees Devon IRL.

This book was very predictable. I had most twists pegged within the first 20% of the book, but I didn't mind because it was SO fun to read. It was lighthearted, and the characters were very loveable.

I would have rated this higher, but towards the end, the plot kind of fell apart for me. There was too much going on, and it felt like random plot points were being put in to try and make the resolution happen quicker. The writing felt a little rushed and out of place. It honestly felt like a different author wrote the last four chapters.

Read this if you're a fan of Netflix Original romcoms and Hallmark movies.

Dream On tells the story of Cass who was in a coma for six days and wakes up thinking she has a boyfriend named Devin. All the doctors and her friends say that it's made up but when she runs into Devin in real life one year later she has to figure out why he was in her dream.

The book did not have enough diversity for me but the characters were mostly loveable but underdeveloped. I really enjoyed Perry and thought the ending was cute. I didn't like that the author used a miscarriage as a plot when it could have been anything else and still worked. It could be traumatic for anyone who has suggested a miscarriage.

Thank you the publisher and netgalley for the arc!

I was very excited to be able to read an early copy of Dream On. Angie's previous book, Shipped, was one of my favorites from last year and so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one.
When Cass Walker wakes up from a coma she's confused to hear that her boyfriend, Devin, hasn't been to visit her. Her family is even more confused because she doesn't have a boyfriend and they've never heard of Devin. They're convinced that he's a figment of her imagination, created from being in the coma. That is until she walks into a flower shop one day and comes face to face with the literal 'man of her dreams'. Cass begins the journey of trying to unravel the mystery of how she knows Devin, as well as try to land her dream job, and it is quite the ride. It was cute, fun story, maybe a tad predictable. Ok, a lot predictable, but it was super sweet, and I recommend it if you're looking for a good HEA.

Thank you to Simon and Schuster for the gifted copy.

Dream On by author Angie Hockman was a story about Cass, a young woman who was in a coma. While in this coma, she had dreams of her boyfriend, Devin, only to realize that she doesn’t have a boyfriend IRL. So where did this BF come from? Fast forward, Cass sees Devin and this cute romcom flows from there.

This book was cute and simple and didn’t involve any complicated storylines….it was a decent weekend read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I almost wish I hadn't read Shipped first or I would have a different view of this book. I loved Shipped so much that this one unfortunately didn't quite measure up. I really liked watching Cass have to make decisions about whether Devin was better for her or if she needed to follow her heart. Cute romance that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

💫 Dream On 💫
By Angie Hockman
Publisher: Gallery Books (July 5.2022)
Genre: Contemporary romance

What if being in a coma left you believing you had a boyfriend for months except no one but you reminds it? And then when you meet that boyfriend randomly, he doesn’t even know you exist? Is there such a thing as living a love story…. Twice?

This was cute; fun; light and easy to read. If you read “Shipped” by the author, I’m positive you’ll enjoy this too!

Congrats to the author on her 2nd book published and thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy in return for an honest review

2.5*
Well disappointing this one didn't totally vibe with me.
I read and really really enjoyed Shipped when it was released. Dream On feels like a different author wrote it. Like the dialogue didn't hit, the banter was non-existent and the romance was lackluster.
Dream On was readable and like I enjoyed it enough. But I mean nothing was a surprise and I did not like how the "I remember everything" bit played out. It was weak.
But the romance, man, how meh. Like zero on-page chemistry. I get how they went from nothing to love because I WAS TOLD how they did. But really nothing in their scenes would make me believe they wanted to smash bodies together. So that sucks.
I kind of want to reread Shipped and make sure I didn't imagine enjoying that book...
