If there’s one word to describe this book, it’s “sweet”. A different type of story which was refreshing to read! Cass wakes up from a coma and is convinced she’s been dating her boyfriend, Devin, for the past three months. The catch is that Cass doesn’t actually know Devin, and has never met him before. As life goes on, Cass happens to run into Devin and despite their odd meet cute, life gets interesting as they explore their relationship.

I did enjoy this! Not as much as Shipped, I felt with Shipped the banter and back and forth between the love interests was amazing. This was really just a very cute and sweet read. It’s light and interesting with good writing. My complains are minor, but I really wanted more of Cass and Perry. I hate the name Perry for the love interest, but I loved their scenes and just wanted more of that. I liked Cass but she was a bit quirky at times? Sometimes getting a bit too mad at things, but near the end there was a line that really bothered me about Perry being the most important man in her life and loving him, and it’s like, you’ve barely known him and have had a handful of moments together… I just wish the story was more about that, but I understand why it couldn’t be. All in all, cute read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

A cute, light read but with a few things that did not work in particular for my specific tastes. I did love the inventive storyline and thought it was a realistic romantic arc despite the unusual start to the story. Right up until the end I thought it was a great light read though a little flat in character development and dialogue. What I ended up really disliking was the ex-girlfriend storyline, especially the ending. The reveal of what happened in that side relationship seemed cruel and unnecessary considering it wasn't even a main story. Secondly, the epilogue really felt out of place for me. I liked the peek into what they were doing in the future but it was a little off-putting and not in line with the tone of the rest of the book at all. It could just be me and my tastes, though.

I’m always intrigued by books about fate and finding your soul mate, but Dream On dealt with it in a completely different way. Imagine waking up from a six-day coma only to realize that the man that you thought was your boyfriend and have all of these memories of is just a figment of your imagination…or is he?

While Cass’s family and friends try to persuade her that her dream man isn’t real, she has a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that she has imagined him in such great detail. When she ends up seeing him in real life, well, needless to say, she is shocked.

Dream On is an original love story. I enjoyed getting acquainted with the characters, I loved the setting, and I was more than happy to watch the story unfold. The flower shop named Blooms & Baubles was absolutely adorable, and I could visualize every aspect of it, including its owner.

I always appreciate it when an author takes her time to develop the story and the characters before making them jump headfirst into falling in love. Angie Hockman delivered a good slow-burn romance, allowing her readers to become acquainted with the characters and building the anticipation.

I will admit that I had an inkling very early on as to how this story was going to play out, however, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the novel at all. I was more than happy with the direction that it took and enjoyed my time spent with the characters.

Dream On was a unique story with a great message.

I was hooked on this book right from the get-go. The intrigue of Cass’s recovery post accident, the mystery of the boyfriend she thought she had. I wasn’t even three chapters in and I was talking about it with people!

I love the mystery that surrounds this story. No, not the murder kind. You’re in the wrong place if that’s what you’re looking for. I am referring to the mystery of the coma boyfriend and trying to figure out if/how Cass would have come across Devin prior to her accident. There are also some fun reveals at a couple different points in the book that were crucial turning pints in the story and big WOW moments.

One of my favourite characters is Perry. I love that he loves flowers and flower arranging and has never shied away from it, no matter the relationship it has cost him. A character that truly knows who he is and what he wants, I was always happy when he made his way onto the page in front of me. Quite the opposite, Cass is , understandably, a bit lost after her accident. Concerned about her future as a lawyer, working hard to get a permanent position with a big law firm, and trying to navigate dream Devin and real Devin. I enjoyed watching her journey and seeing how her eyes were opened. It was almost like watching a flower blossom, as corny as that sounds.

I will definitely read this book again at some point isn’t the future. I enjoyed my time in this place and with these characters, and would actually love to see them again in future stories!!!! Pick it up and form your own opinion!!!!

Dream On - an incredible second book from Angie Hockman! I truly loved Shipped, but I loved (and devoured) Dream On even more!

This was such a unique storyline idea, truly something that I’ve never come across before. There are several amnesia romances out there, but what we have here is sort of amnesia meets While You We’re Sleeping, if the two stories had a baby! Cassidy wakes up from a 6-day coma, after a bad car accident, and has memories of a 3-month relationship with a guy that doesn’t exist… fast-forward 11 months, after recovery, when she’s finally ready and able to go back to work, and decides to stop in a neighborhood flower shop for some celebratory flowers, and there he is - the guy she dreamed about and who has invaded her thoughts the past year… he’s real!

They take some time to try and figure out what is going on. Angie Hockman leaves a lot of great little breadcrumbs throughout the whole book and if you’re paying close enough attention, you should be able to grab onto her clues to see where she’s leading us at the end - I picked up all (most?) of these and thought she was very clever, but you really do have to pay close attention!

Super well-written, extremely intelligent, so unique and absolutely a must-read for everyone! This is great as it’s a romance for the ages but clean (up to the very end), fated love, and has those nuggets hidden that you need to watch for. Bravo!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Simon & Schuster Canada, and this is my honest review.

I didn’t really like this book. It had the potential to be so good, the whole idea of waking from a coma to all these fake memories with a boyfriend that never happened, is so crazy and interesting. Unfortunately, I did not find this to be interesting. There were parts that were good and interesting and kept me reading, but I just felt this story was lacking a lot. It felt very stretched out and slow. I also found it to be pretty predictable. I predicted just about everything that happened. This is in the romantic comedy genre, but I didn’t pick up on any comedy at all and the romances felt forced and lacked chemistry and spark. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this book..

This book had me hooked from the very beginning! Like, how could it not when the description of the book asks what you would do if you your dream man turned out to be real? I just thought the whole idea for this book was so original and really well done, and it was an overall really fun read!

The book starts with out MC, Cass, being in a car accident and then waking up from a coma with with memories of her boyfriend Devin… The problem is, she doesn’t have a boyfriend, and he was something that her mind made up during her coma… What happens when she finally sees him in real life, 11 months after the coma, with all those memories of him and everyone telling her he wasn’t real?

I honestly really liked this book and the whole story. I thought the twists and turns that the story had were a lot of fun, and it was a good summer read that kept me hooked the whole time! It was a bit different than what I expected the book to be, but in a really good way, and it kept me entertained all throughout the book.

The trope in this story isn’t my favorite as I find love triangles a bit over dramatic and stupid, but I thought this trope was done well! The other thing that kind of bothered me was the MC Cass. She kind of annoyed me some times throughout the story, but overall, she was a pretty likeable character, and I understood what she was going through and the way she was acting because of it. However, one thing I really loved about this book the supporting cast! I really liked Brie and how quirky and supportive she was - she’s the kind of best friend every girl wants!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story! I thought it was so original and fun, and I would highly recommend It for a fun and original summer read! 🥰

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for this ARC! Out July 5th!

At first, I wasn't sold on this book. I too was like "how does she just dream up this random guy and swear they are in love?" ...but I stuck with it and it was so good!

The characters were well developed and the storyline, although *sometimes* predictable, kept you wanting more and more until the very end!

Cassidy Walker has the most dreamy boyfriend, Devin Bloom, however, he’s not real. Cassidy was in a car accident that left her in a coma for a couple of days, leaving her with some memory loss and a made up boyfriend. She is so certain that Devin is real. But her friends, family, her iCloud account…all tell her he’s made up. But her memories of him are so vivid, he has to be real!

…then Cassidy stumbles into a flower shop and faints after realizing that her dreamy make-believe boyfriend works at the shop. What does fate have in store for them?

I flew through this book. It was really cute. I loved the characters and the storyline. It was a little cheesy, but I loved every minute of it.

If you’re looking for a quick, romantic, fun read, I highly suggest Angie Hockman’s newest novel!

I absolutely loved this author's first book, Shipped, so I was so excited when I got approved for this ARC. But I probably should have read more into the synopsis because this wasn't cute and fluffy like I was hoping.

The main character is in a coma at the beginning of the book and when she wakes up, she realizes that she dreamt that she had a boyfriend for 3 months. A year later, she actually finds the guy and dates him while navigating her new job at a law firm.

I think I really struggled with this book because the vibes weren't light and fluffy and I didn't like the male love interests (yes, there's a bit of a love triangle here, folks!). I found Hockman's last book to be so fun so I was really disappointed when I read this and didn't laugh out loud or have a good time reading it. I felt like there was a lot of telling and not showing in the writing, which made the book feel boring. I could see the "plot twists" coming and the dialogue felt stale, especially between the main character and her best friend. But the romance was definitely the worst part of the book. The male love interests weren't developed enough for me to believe in either relationship and I didn't get enough cute moments to feel like this was a light fluffy rom-com.

I guess my expectations were too high for this one but if you like women's fiction books, maybe you'll like this?

I was initially intrigued by the premise but reading it from Cass's POV really highlighted how much tis premise does not work. Instead of being interested in the romance I was concerned that Cass is not attending the therapy she desperately needs. Being in Cass's head created a story narrative of obsession, rather than her waking up and accepting that it was a dream, she holds on to that alternate reality.
When she runs into the real Devin she exhibits behaviour of a stalker who becomes obsessed with a person based off of one small interaction.

We've seen the "I saw my perfect person in a dream" done before in 365 days. It was creepy then too but that story owned its tropes.

Thankfully one of the characters in the story is the antithesis to Cass and points out what the audience is thinking, taking the story in a different direction, but as great as Perry is, he cannot over shadow how unlikable Cass is as a main character.

I really enjoyed Angie Hockman's debut novel, Shipped, and so I was excited to read an ARC of her new book. I actually loved this one more ! It's sweet, funny and full of heart - all this I love in a rom-com.

I like that it had depth, and loved the theme of fate versus the choices we make. AH is officially an auto-buy author ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You guys! This book was everything! Did I read this book, hug my Kindle to my chest and immediately head to Amazon to preorder this book? Yes, yes I did. I loved it that much!

Okay so, the way that we get to watch Cass grow so much throughout the book had my heart absolutely swooning with joy! A year after her car accident where she wakes up with memory additions of a man named Devin Bloom, she has moved on and is doing well. Until she walks into a flower shop to come face to face with Devin - the man of her memories. Except he has no idea who she is.

As she gets closer to Devin she also begins to get closer to his brother Perry, the aforementioned flower shop owner! Cass works towards realizing that she should value her happiness over being in a soul-crushing/sucking legal job at a huge and important firm. And along the way realizes that maybe Devin isn’t the one to bring her that happiness, but it could be someone else?

The way that this book progresses and how we get to watch Cass not only have a relationship with Devin, but we get invited into her personal struggles, friendships, and what she truly desires.

Now I need to admit I was Team Perry from the very first instance that Cass meets him in the flower shop, I mean how could I not be? But I can definitely see why some people will be on Team Devin. You should definitely read this book and see where you stand in regards to the two brothers!

Thank you @netgalley // @simonschusterca // @angie_hockman for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review! All of the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Loved the author’s debut last year and knew I would love this too!

Cas Walker wakes up in the hospital from a coma days after a car accident the evening following her bar exam.
Thoughts and memories of her beloved Devin flood her consciousness.
The problem is - no one’s heard of him - not her best friend, Brie, not her mom, no one. The doctors try convince her that he doesn’t exist, that it’s symptomatic of her head injury from the accident. A year later, Cas encounters Devin. The real Devin. He’s not a figment of her imagination. But how does she know him? It’s up to Cas and Devin to figure this one out.

I loved the plot which was more complex and genuine than typical, formulaic rom coms. The humor was spot on perfect. Just enough chemistry and fluff to keep us going. Again, the author addresses social issues within a great storyline. The characters are developed and portrayed perfectly.

I can’t wait for Angie Hockman’s next one, she’s one of my go to authors now! I’d love to see this one as a film!

When soon to be lawyer, Cass, wakes up from a coma and asks where her boyfriend is, her friends and family are more than a little confused. Cass doesn't have a boyfriend, despite her insistence, and tries to go on with her normal life - until one day, she steps into a flower shop owned by her dream boyfriend's brother. Turns out, Devin is real, and they can't explain why Cass knows things about him that only someone close to him would. Besides, when your literal dream man shows up in your life, you've got to give it a shot, right?

I really enjoyed this book! I thought the concept was so interesting, especially to see the juxtaposition that her dreamed up relationship had with reality. I didn't know how to feel about Devin at the beginning, but his brother, Perry, was a favourite from his first appearance. I loved the atmosphere of the flower shop and Perry's love for his work.

I really enjoyed reading about the art Cass made - it gave her a different feeling than when she's involved at the law firm. I also liked the family aspects of the book. Cass's little brothers were so cute, and I'm glad we got more than a glimpse of them.

If you're looking for a great romance, pick this one up! I liked it even better than Shipped!

I really enjoyed Shipped so I’m sad I didn’t love this one as much. I loved the flowers shop setting and Perry was an amazing book boyfriend. Cass was a pretty great main character too, I didn’t really hate her so yay for that. I did also really like the setting! Angie Hockman is really great with that aspect. I also really adored Brie and Marcus!!

Some things I didn’t love were the love triangle. It’s one of my least favourite things in books and in general. I feel like it was also dragged on for longer than I thought was necessary. And the whole Devin’s ex thing. I put that together way early on, but I also felt like the book could have gone without that.

All in all, a cute read from Angie for the summer, with a great book boyfriend. This won’t put me off from reading her future work, I’m very much excited to read her next novel!

A huge thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing me a copy of the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I thought it was fun and liked the sort of magical realist element of Cass dreaming about Devin. I did think that it ambled quite a bit, though. I also wasn’t a fan of how the relationships went, just because I’m not really sure how all that would fly in real life. I loved Cass. She was such a great character and I am so happy for how her life ultimately turned out. I also loved the writing style and even though the narrative didn’t quite work for me, the writing kept me hooked.

What a cute story! I was quickly hooked with this one and the unique opening sequence. The story was pretty PG13, with the exception of the very end, and a bit more spice would have warranted a higher rating from me. The intersection of supporting character stories was well done and I did not predict the ending of this one, which is the sign of a good read - wondering "how is this going to end?" I did find there was some repetitive language of action (eg. his jaw went slack) throughout, which did detract from the matureness of the story characters and how they acted/reacted, but in general I enjoyed reading this book and it was a quick and easy read.

I enjoyed Angie Hockman's debut book, and I was super excited when this book was announced too.

I enjoyed the idea of this book, the whole mystery element was fun to discover, even though it was forgotten after the love triangle portion of the book took over. I was never a love triangle trope fan, and I had no idea this book even had a love triangle trope, but alas, it did and it wasn't my favourite especially since it was between Cass and the two brothers Perry and Devin.

I'm summing this up as this book just wasn't for me, it was too slow and the chemistry between characters felt forced.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the earc in return for an honest review.

Last year, I picked up Angie Hockman’s debut romance Shipped and was completely smitten. Henley and Graeme were really enjoyable to meet, like and eventually fall in love with. So when I saw the blurb of her sophomore outing Dream On, I was really looking forward to getting my hands on it. I’m once again really excited and thrilled to be sharing my advance review with y’all.

Huge thanks to NetGalley, and Gallery Books for providing me an ARC for an honest review.

Written from a single POV (just like Shipped) we find out that new grad and aspiring litigator Cassidy “Cass” Walker has just woken up from a 6 day coma after being in a horrific car accident. But also she’s woken up with aches, pains and the gut deep certainty that she has the perfect boyfriend of 3 months: Devin Bloom. After her friends and family help her come to the heartbreaking realization that not only Devin is not real, but he’s a figment of her imagination, she sets out on a year of physical, emotional and mental rehabilitation.

So right away, I was HOOKED. How could she have DREAMED this man up. We time jump about a year later to find out Cass is gaining more post accident independence and is moving in with Brie her best forever friend and her terrifying parrot Xerxes. We also find out that Cass still convinced Devin is very real has been sketching hyper realistic portraits of him for months. But she’s got to move on, and with her new summer internship at a huge law-firm she’s going to try to put this all behind her.

After celebrating her first day on the job and feeling like she’s FINALLY turned a corner (yay no more Devin coma-memory-flashbacks) she decides to treat herself to a bouquet of flowers and stops in at a quaint little victorian called Bloom & Baubles, where she meets Perry, and wait for it, his brother DEVIN.

After fainting, and acting like a SUPREME weirdo, she heads home even more confused than she was when she woke post coma. Some clever plotting helps Cass connect with Devin and after a bar show-down complete with Perry NOT cool with the entire situation, but he agrees to meet with her and figure out how she can know so much about him.

I gotta say as this progressed Ms Hockman took my heart on a ROLLERCOASTER. This is a wild, funny, emotional, heartfelt ride from the first page to the last.

And our man Perry, oof. From the first moment Cass meets him and The Colonel, I felt like there might had been something there, but it quickly gets overshadowed by the miraculous return of Devin. I honestly was all over the place reading this pseudo-love triangle, which I gotta say I am usually not a fan of.

I think what I like so much about Hockman’s writing is that she manages to create flawed, complex and ultimately believable characters with depth to them, without any of them feeling 1 dimensional. Without spoiling ALL the twists and turns, I will say that this is a SLOW (slow) burn and by the end you’ll be SCREAMING GET TOGETHER YOU SWEET BABIES AND BE IN LOVE ALREADY.

This book, it’s not what I expected, and after staying up WAY too late to read this all in one sitting, I can tell you without reservation it’s going to be on my mind for a long time to come.

Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Trish Doller, Sophie Sullivan and Jodie Slaughter, Dream On is a heart-bursting rom-com that will burrow its way deep into your heart and refuse to let go. Be sure to grab a copy wherever you get your books when it lands in stores and on shelves July 5th 2022.
