This is my second five star book of the year! I really enjoyed this authors first book but I have to say that this one just blew me away. From the unique concept, to the simmering slow-burn, I couldn’t put this one down.

Our heroine, Cass Walker, wakes up from a coma with memories of her devoted boyfriend, Devin Bloom. Only Cass’s ‘memories’ aren’t memories at all. Devin Bloom isn’t real and no one in her life recalls her seeing someone prior to the accident. Fast forward a year later and Cass is celebrating her summer associate job at a top law firm by buying herself some flowers. She’s immediately intrigued by the florist, Perry, and almost accepts his offer to take her out when none other than Devin, the literal man of her dreams (and Perry’s brother), walks in.

Fighting what Cass believes to be fate with Devin and her growing connection with Perry, a love triangle forms. I want to emphasize that there is no cheating in this book! Cass and Perry’s connection is immediate, but friendly, as they bond over their love of art. Devin and Perry couldn’t be more different. Devin is the golden child of the family, he’s confident, and smooth. Perry is estranged from his father, he’s sweet, artsy, and he also blushes when talking to the heroine which is ADORABLE.

Overall, this book was a delight to read and I can’t wait to buy my hard copy when it releases! If you’re looking for a sweet, romantic read where the main character finds herself AND love, then this is the book for you.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very cute and kind of unique romance story that involves a slight love triangle and an unexplainable connection after a coma. The FMC a is strong, sweet and smart who is determined to get her life back on track (ie becoming a lawyer) after a horrible car accident. Only problem is that she woke up from a coma remembering a boyfriend that doesn’t exist. I enjoyed how this story came together with all the supporting cast (cranky bird and all) and where it ended up- I’m glad it wasn’t as I first expected.

Thank you Netgalley and Gallery books for this ARC.

Cover? Gorgeous.
Premise? Intriguing.
Other books by the author? Lovely.

Dream On had all the conditions to be a perfect romance. However, it was a complete dud past the 20% mark.

**Spoilers to come**
Cass was in a horrific car accident that left her in a coma. When she woke up, she was convinced she had a boyfriend named Devin. In the months following, she realized he didn't exist and was just a result of her trauma. While buying flowers from a local shop, she sees him. They connect and agree their love is destined, until reality seeps in and Cass starts seeing the red flags. Not to mention, Devin's brother Perry is thoughtful and attentive in a way that Devin isn't. Was it all fate? Or a series of unlikely coincidences?

Cass is terribly unlikable. I struggled to believe that she is a star lawyer based on how immature and whiney she is. She doesn't strike me as an independent woman and beyond the coma plot (which I initially liked btw), she is annoying.

The biggest problem was the pacing. As soon as Cass and Devin meet they're basically a couple. Did they even get to know each other or agree it was fate? The plot would skip ahead weeks on end so the reader doesn't see the relationship progress. Almost out of the blue Cass goes from hating Perry to being enamored with him. She is emotionally cheating on Devin before anything actually happens with Perry.

Ugh, going from one brother to the other is just kind of cringey from a protagonist. Hard to get behind.

And INSTANTLY Devin was okay with it? If my sister started dating my ex like a day after we broke up I'd be beyond mad.

Unless someone is looking for a book they intend to skim, I wouldn't recommend this one.

After a brutal car accident, Cass is recovered and moving on. She’s even finally accepted that the fake memories she woke up with of a boyfriend named Devin are just that-fake. That is, until she meets Devin in person! Will he truly be the man of her dreams?

I was super excited to get to read this ARC after absolutely loving Shipped and Dream On did not disappoint! This was a super cute read that I looked forward to reading more of every time I put it down.

I loved the twist in this one that made it feel different from all other “woman wakes up from coma with amnesia/false memories” stories. I also enjoyed the storyline around Cass and her career.

I would definitely recommend this to romance fans as a cute summer read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the advanced reading copy!

Before reading this book, I was in a bit of a slump. I started a couple books, with none really grabbing my attention. Having enjoyed Shipped, Angie Hockman's debut novel, I gave this one a chance and I am so glad I did! I couldn't put this one down. It was a fun and entertaining read! The whole concept of not *losing* your memory after an accident, but *adding* to your memory??? I loved it. It felt fresh and completely unique. Throughout the novel I tried to guess and predict what the big twist was going to be, and while I wasn't exactly correct, it was fun trying to piece it together.

If you are looking for a unique love story, with a fresh storyline, I recommend this one!

4.25 stars.

After surviving a car accident, Cass Walker wakes up from a coma convinced she has been dating a man named Devin for the past few months. The only problem is, Devin doesn’t exist. She’s forced to move on with her life and from this “medical anomaly” until a year later she meets the “real” Devin. “Dream On” dives into how our dreams might come true, but not always in the way we imagine…

Right off the bat let’s make one thing clear, I loved this book. I read Hockman’s debut novel, Shipped a while ago so I was excited to see what was in store for her second book! I loved all the main characters, even one I thought wasn’t too great at the start of the story. I really liked Cass’ character and I could definitely see a little bit of myself in her. Also liked how there was more going on outside of the main romance story, Brie and Marcus’ little side story was really sweet too.

Okay so I don’t usually like love triangle or books with OW/OM drama but in this book it’s executed in a way where it wasn’t the typical “I love them both but I can’t choose.” I’m definitely happy with how the book played out and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a lighthearted and super cute read.

Release Date: July 5, 2022

More info:
POV? Single (Cass), First Person
Cheating? No
OW/OM drama? Technically a love triangle
Spice? One vague scene in the epilogue
HEA? Yes (and it’s adorable)

This was a very nice fun read! Definitely a quick summer book to read in one sitting. I just thought we got the answer about the love interest too quickly

Let me start by saying I absolutely loved Shipped by this author last year. Therefore I was so excited for this one! The cover is gorgeous and the title automatically had Aerosmith stuck in my head for days. But that’s about all I liked with this one. Amnesia plots are not new and can be done really well; but to wake up with this boyfriend whose not actually your boyfriend was a hugeeeee stretch. I also hated how the men in the book were making decisions and pushing our female mc in certain ways, when they just met her! Over all I was hugely let down by this one.

After waking up from a coma, law grad Cass vividly remembers her dream guy. The problem is … her friends and family have no clue who she’s talking about. Who is this mysterious handsome man and will fate bring them together?

A refreshingly modern love story with unpredictable twists along the way that make you want to devour it all in one sitting. I especially enjoyed the modern gender roles in occupations (a male florist, a female lawyer, a male receptionist). Read this book if you enjoy love triangles, surprises and friendship. Thank you for the early copy Net Galley and Simon & Schuster Canada!

** spoiler alert ** Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. I read “Shipped” by the author last year and enjoyed it so I was excited to read her new book.

With that being said, it was a very cute read. I enjoyed story concept of the coma and imagining her perfect man. Also, FYI I’m a big Perry fan. I’d love me a hot florist boyfriend.

However, it was a wee bit predictable at times. Mercedes/Sadie surprise for example. The second I heard the names I knew it was the same person.

Would recommend for someone looking for a light romance novel with a happy ending.

After reading Angie Hockman's "Shipped", I was elated to have been accepted to read this ARC!

Shortly after surviving a car crash, our main character, Cass, juggles a new job at a law firm, recovery from her accident and hazy dreams of a boyfriend named Devin. However, as far as her friends, family and phone are concerned, doesn't exist!

This dreamy romance was a delight to read. While some elements were predictable, I did not see the twists and turns coming towards the end. I carried my Kindle with me everywhere, eager for moments where I could sneak in a few pages and devoured the final chapters well past midnight.

Takeaways:

~Thematically, this story begs to question what success truly means and how to cultivate that.

~There were many situations by which the main character was a clear and compassionate communicator in conflict resolution that served as a breath of fresh air.

~I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am grateful to have had the opportunity to read it as an ARC. Wonderful for lovers of Emily Henry and In Five Years by Rebecca Serle.

~There were a couple typos, but I'm sure the editors will pick up on them.

~I love how love bloomed in this book! Will absolutely be sharing this with my audience and friends when published as a summer must read!

~4.5 Stars

Cass Walker wakes up from a coma after a car accident, with memories of her boyfriend, Devin Bloom. To her immense surprise, Devin doesn't exist, and after about a year of recovering from the accident, she begins a new job at her dream law firm. Somehow, she meets the actual Devin, and they begin seeing each other as they try to figure out how Cass could know so much about someone she's never met.

I give Dream on 4 stars! I really liked how this romance was framed differently, and without giving too much away, there is a bit of a love triangle which I thought was written pretty well. There were so many cute moments throughout the book, and a few twists!

Although some of the twists were predictable around halfway through the book, I still thought that it all tied up pretty nicely. For the life of me, I couldn't guess as to how Cass knew all these things about Devin, and the final explanation definitely satisfied my curiosity, LOL

I liked every character; the scenery was also really vivid and the plot was engaging. While I did find the epilogue a bit abrupt, I was happy for the characters and happy that Cass followed her heart in the end. Really sweet, slow-burn romance!

Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the eARC!

To be fair, I am not a regular romance reader. I'm trying to get back into the genre, as I loved it as a teen. I've read and loved two romcoms this year but I acknowledge I have very particular tastes for the genre. This just wasn't hittin for me. Too much whining, not enough comedy.

Wow! I really enjoyed this. It was quick and easy read with completely unexpected aspects and a little bit of mystery. When Cass wakes up from a coma, she vividly remembers her boyfriend who doesn't exist. When by chance, she ends up meeting this man who is identical to her sketches she begins a relationship. I felt right along for the ride with main character Cass as she begins to try to uncover the mystery and her true feelings.

If you're looking for spice, you'll have to wait until the epilogue.

I was excited to be approved for this ARC because I really liked Shipped, and I wasn't disappointed! There are definitely some cheesey parts but overall this was a light, fun read. Around 30% I figured out which direction this was going in but that didn't take away from how much I liked it! This will be a perfect summer/beach read this summer!

Contemporary Romance
Standalone
Publication Date: July 5, 2022

Cass wakes up from a coma wondering why her boyfriend Devon Bloom isn’t nearby. The problem is neither her friends nor her family have ever heard of Devon. She spends the next year doubting herself and her memories only for her to walk into a flower shop and run straight into Devon. Turns out he is real and they have never met. So why did Cass dream of him?

It’s a light-hearted and comedic exploration into whether the partner of your dreams can also be the partner of your heart. It features a kind of fresh (or at least it was to me) concept in the romance genre. There are different elements including Cass’ difficulties with memory following her accident, workplace struggles and relationship with her mother. Dream On is a clean romance meaning there are no sex scenes or anything beyond a few kisses.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of the premise of Jodi Picoult’s Wish You Were Here and likes a little romance or anyone who has read Hockman’s Shipped.
