I first read Angie Hockman's Shipped last year and loved it, so I was so excited for her next book. I will say I wasn't quite disappointed, but it was so different that it felt like it was written by another author. Dream On is a story of a girl who wakes up from a coma, remembering a different life than the one she's living. To her surprise, her boyfriend, who she remembers in great detail, doesn't exist. He's a figment of her coma imagination. Then, as you may have guessed if you've ever seen a Lifetime movie, the man she imagined actually exists, has all of the character traits she describes, and runs a flower shop with his brother, but has never met her in his life. Drama and messy relationships and love triangles ensue. I thought the entire premise was flimsy at best, but if you can suspend disbelief effectively, this is a sweet and enjoyable story for fans of Hallmark, Kerry Winfrey, Christina Lauren, and Kate Clayborn.

I went through many emotions reading this book and I honestly have never read a story quite like it before.
Angie Hockman leaves a lot of breadcrumbs throughout the book and once I finished it I wanted to start it over again and see what I missed on the first read. This was really well written and a beautiful romance!

I truly didn’t see this title coming, Dream On by Angie Hockman really managed to play me in the most genius way possible. After having read the synopsis I was obviously expecting a normal-enough rom-com with its meet-cute and everything that accompanies it. Imagine my surprise when my suspicions became true and the book delivered a totally different part to the story. And of course, I’m trying my best to keep this review spoiler-free because the revelation is worth finding by the reader, but at some point in the book it becomes clear and you’ll find yourself thinking “what if?”

Nevertheless, I do want to warn everyone going in that the romance revolves around a love triangle, which I’m not a fan of. But, the author did a great job in portraying it and I assure you that you’ll find yourself rooting for one of the love interests once you get through some scenes. The main character and protagonist, Cass, was very likable and her love interests were very interesting too. Of course I’ll have to mention that my favorite was Perry right off the batch and his dynamic with Cass was amazing from the very first moment.

I loved how unique the author was in taking this story out there and surprising the reader with something that was unexpected. At first, when I got to reading I thought that the bizarre aspect of it all wouldn’t make much sense in the end and it was just there for the characters to meet. But, of course, it made so much sense in the end and it was satisfying to get to the last pages.

Content warning: mentions of a car accident and a miscarriage.

I read Shipped and enjoyed it, so I was excited to read another Angie Hockman. This one fell flat for me, primarily because of the cheese factor and the predictability. Also, I'm not a huge fan of miscommunication like the trope in this book. A character who wakes up from a coma and swears something is real that isn't real has been done in movies and books before, and I wanted some new twist on the old concept. If you are really into giving and receiving flowers, or the symbolism of giving flowers, then this book might have enough for you to grab onto. It wasn't for me.

3.5 out of 5. A cute and quick to read romance, that I liked I just did not dream about it afterwards. IT is a cute premise, with a theoretically complicated love triangle, although for me it was just always very obvious. I think Devin needed to be cooler for me to be more invested in the triangle.

I enjoyed Hockman's debut novel Shipped - and in this follow-up recent law school graduate Cass Walker ends up in a coma after taking the bar exam.

When she wakes up, all she can think about is Devin - but the harsh reality is that he's not real and she's actually single. When Cassie starts at a BigLaw firm a year later, she meets Devin and they start a relationship.

I enjoyed the premise of the book and thought it was really unique - but struggled to connect to Cass as a character. If you enjoy love triangles / love stories with a soulmate angle then this may be for you though!

Wow, this is without a doubt unlike any other romance novel I have ever read. I don't want to spoil it but will say that without a doubt this unique tale will sweep you away. The male main character is an absolute dream boat and the female lead is so relatable and kind!!! This is one of those books you shouldn't sleep on and don't look at Goodreads!

Dream On follows Cass Walker after she wakes up from an almost week-long coma. She swears she has a boyfriend, even though her mom and best friend assure her she doesn't. After she is finally getting her life back on track, she runs into the guy from her dreams and tries to figure out how she knows so much about him. It's a fun take, and I liked the characters, especially Perry, dream guy's brother. There was some miscommunication between the main characters as a plot device that I wasn't crazy about, so that knocked it down to three stars for me, but still a fun read. This is my second Angie Hockman book and I will definitely keep reading more by her.

This book was really unexpected.

Cass Walker wakes up from a coma with very vivid memories about a 3 month relationship with her dream man. The thing is, he doesn’t actually exist. There is no trace of him in her phone (no number, photos, texts). Doctors and family eventually convince her that these memories were just hallucinations…until she stumbled upon him a year later.

Very predictable where the romance was heading but that didn’t take away from the enjoyment of this book. I will say, the reason why Cass had these memories of her dream man is pretty weak but oh well 🤷‍♀️ Besides that, the plot is great! Cass is a strong and intelligent heroine which we LOVE.

I will read more from Angie Hockman. Def a rec for romcom lovers (no steam though).

Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I read and loved Shipped last year so I knew I had to pick this one up immediately. Unfortunately, it took me a while to actually pick it up - oops. Regardless, I really enjoyed this one!

It had an interesting premise: Cass wakes up after being in a coma for six days next to her boyfriend, Devin Bloom… except he’s not real. Her perfect boyfriend who would give her flowers wasn’t real?

She ends up going to this flower shop “Bloom” to try to cheer herself up, where she finds the exact Devin she was dreaming of this whole time. Best part? He believes her. Worst part? He has a brother named Perry who she ends up falling for.

I know a lot of people don’t enjoy love triangles, but I am personally a fan of them. I think it was done so well in this one (unlike in Every Summer After).

I was rooting for a specific boy (not saying who) and I’m glad he’s the one she ended up with. I found this to be a quick and enjoyable romance!

Angie Hockman! I have been so excited to read your book ever since your debut novel Shipped. Unfortunately for me, Dream On became so talked about on Bookstagram, I felt the need to leave it on my shelf for longer than I expected so I could walk into it without Booksta Influences.

I hadn't read the synopsis and as a result, months later, I walked into this one knowing nothing about the story and what a treat that was! Cass Walker has everything going for her, until a tragic car accident left her in a coma. When she awakes, she is convinced, beyond doubt that she is dating a man named Devin, Except, no one knows anything about this supposed boyfriend. As Cass gets back to her life, she is bothered by how vividly she remembers this man and how much she knows about him. She finds herself sketching him over and over again.

When a year later, Cass walks into a flower shop, and sees Devin, she practically faints. Devin doesn't even recognize her. This book goes beyond romance. Hockman explores themes of self-discovery, recover, and reinvention. I love flowers and subscribe to a local floral subscription throughout the summer and try to pick up flowers weekly any other time. This quote from the book stayed with me long after I closed the book.

“The joy the act of giving flowers brings to others. Buying someone a handcrafted bouquet might seem old-fashioned, especially these days—what with every grocery and dime-store drug mart selling cheap arrangements And cut flowers only last a short time. After a week—or two, if the flowers are ours—the blooms fade, and what was once a beautiful bouquet shrivels up and dies. But the act of giving someone even a small slice of beauty, and the thoughtfulness behind the gesture . . . that’s permanent. That’s what I love about my job. Being a florist means celebrating the interconnectedness between people and the brief bouts of beauty in a world with too much ugliness.”

Super cute tale about a girl who wakes up from a coma to memories of her boyfriend - who doesn’t exist. Or does he? A little cheesy at times but super cute

This is my first Angie Hockman book and I am impressed! The unique premise immediately grabbed my attention. Additionally, I am DOWN to read any book set in NYC. I loved how the characters have strong personalities, likes, and dislikes. This makes them more realistic to read and distinct from the other characters in the story. However, I'm not gonna lie tho that there were some parts that were a bit slow-paced which I wouldn't care to read about at all and just skip it. Nevertheless, I would still definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quick and light rom-com! Easy 4 stars!

Dream On. When you wake up from a coma and believe you have been dating someone for the last six months but no one close to you knows of this Devin you feel kind of crazy. Fast forward a year later and Cass meets Devin at his brother’s flower shop. They try to figure out how Cass knows so much about Devin but he doesn’t know her. Is it a mutual friend? Another conn? Is this match meant to be?

This was a cute stoty but was hard to get into but I think this would be a cute spring read if you need something light between other heavy books it’s worth checking out.

I thought the idea of this story was pretty interesting, that's what initially drew me in. It seems that the higher expectations you have for a book the more likely you are to be a bit disappointed in the end and well this was the case for me. It wasn't horrible but it also was not very memorable, I enjoyed it while I was reading it and that might be good enough, but I love finishing book and still find myself thinking about it a days later.

Cassie was likable enough, she seemed to be assertive enough in what she wanted that she wasn't a pushover which sometimes happens in books like these so that was nice. But I wasnt able to connect with her character, even after knowing about her accident and what not. The mural thing also seemed a bit impossible, im not an artist but is it possible to paint a huge mural in one night ? with no help ?

I think the main point of the story was the whole love triangle thing but even that was not very enjoyable. I think that they made it very obvious who she would end up with and that takes away the fun. Also I'm not a fan of that trope between brothers so i could be judging it a bit harder because of that.

It was a good way to transition between books, and I would probably recommend it to someone who was just starting with romance stories.
