I was provided an advance copy of this title by the publisher; thank you! I loved this book, I thought it was super cute! While the ending was a little predictable, it made me smile like crazy. The love story is very sweet and well-paced and I found myself relating to the characters a lot! Overall, a very quick and satisfying read. Would highly recommend!
Dream On by Angie Hockman ✨
I really wanted to love this book. I adored Shipped when I read it last summer and I squealed when I got this ARC. This book just didn’t do it for me. I loved the characters (most of them) and I loved the premise. I just really disliked the way things unfolded.
Cass had big dreams of becoming a lawyer but that all changed when she got into a wreck and sustained a severe head injury. While she was in a coma she dreamt about a boyfriend named Devin Bloom who worked at a flower shop. When she awoke she was astonished to find that he wasn’t real. Then one day she stumbles into a flower shop and lays eyes on a man she thought only existed in her dreams.
Sounds cute right? Serendipitous. Fate. Dreamy. Swoony. It was all of those things and it sucked me in from the get-go. But here’s what I didn’t like: I felt too much time in the novel was spent on things that distracted from the romantic relationship between our MCs. I won’t say anything else because I don’t want to spoil anything, just know I wasn’t satisfied with the romance. I also felt like the epilogue was weirdly arranged. Let’s just say this book was entirely clean… until the epilogue and because of that it felt extremely out of place 👀
I wanted to love this one so badly! I adore a good fate trope and a serendipitous beginning for a couple and because of that it sucked me in… but by the end, I just didn’t feel that this one delivered.
I did enjoy reading it and I was very invested in what happened. I also adored both MCs but I just didn’t like how things unfolded.
As always, please read and form your own opinions! I’d love to discuss this one. Thanks to @allyoureadislov3 for buddy reading with me and @netgalley & @gallerybooks for the ARC 🤍

🌶: 🌶/5 (if you skip the epilogue, it’s clean)
I liked the book description and thought it had the potential to be a fun, easy RomCom. I also enjoyed Angie Hockman’s first novel, Shipped.
In Dream On, Cass wakes up after being in a coma following a car accident and the person she’s most excited to see is her boyfriend Devin. Except Devin doesn’t actually exist. Throughout recovery, Cass has to reconcile her post-coma life with the fact that she has vivid memories of her three months dating Devin, which never actually happened. Almost a year later, Cass has a chance run-in with Devin in real life - he exists! They begin dating and, while Cass sorts through her memories of dream Devin and her real life experiences,
a love triangle develops.
The whole time I was reading this book, I kept thinking that there was something a little off about the love triangle. Cass clearly had much stronger feelings for Perry though she gave it a real go with Devin. I think that maybe I just really didn’t like Devin; he wasn’t a loveable character in my opinion. The Sadie angle of the story also made me feel that there was something lacking. I did really like being able to watch the arc of Cass figuring out herself and finally listening to her gut about what she wants for her life in all aspects (love + career). I also really liked Cass & Brie’s friendship, as well as Marcus’s character. There was one bit of language though throughout the book that kept bothering me - it was the repeated reference to all of Cass’s feelings tightening in her stomach. I’m not sure why it bothered me so much, but it was similar phrasing that kept being repeated or referenced.
Without giving away the ending, I will say that I really liked how the story wrapped up. I even got a little weepy at the end! I feel like this book would make a great movie for tv or a streaming network. I’d give Dream On 3.5 stars and would recommend for someone looking for a light vacation read.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to like this novel - I am thinking I am just not a fan of the authors writing. I had originally read Shipped and hoped this one would be better. The ending was awful and the spice was meh.
This book had me hooked from the start! I loved everything about it, the multiple story climax at the end was so well done. It was predictable-ish but very enjoyable. Highly recommend!
What would you do if you woke up from a dream and honestly believed that it was a memory, even if your family and friends told you that it wasn’t true?
In Dream On by Angie Hockman, Cass Walker woke up from her coma, sure that her boyfriend, Devin Bloom, would show up at any minute. Unfortunately, she dreamed him up, and no one in her circle of family or friends has ever heard of or met Devin Bloom. And yet, Cass can draw every feature of Devin’s face from her memories.
The mystery intensifies when she actually bumps into a Devon who shares the same features, and is charming to boot. It literally makes her swoon.
This book was a true modern romance, filled with twists and turns of the best and most heart-breaking sort. You need to add this to your “Must Read” pile immediately! It will keep you guessing and in all of your feels from start to finish.

Wouldn't we all love to dream up the perfect someone and then actually find them in real life!! Dream On is just that story. This cute rom-com book will make you believe in fate and love!
Another adorable and lovely read from Angie Hockman!! I loved Shipped, so I went in with high hopes...I was not disappointed!!
I love the cast of characters in this one. I thought Cass was very relatable, especially with her insecurities and anxiety (career related, family related, all of it). The idea of expectations vs. reality was prevalent in all aspects of her life, and I felt so seen!! I always a good arc of self-discovery. Cass really grows into her own, and I appreciated that. This is a common thread, I've discovered, with Angie Hockman. Big fan!!! And Perry was just so lovely. I love a good, soft hero.
Thank you to Angie Hockman, Gallery Books, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!!
My very first thought when I started this book was: it's While You Were Sleeping, if Sandra Bullock was in the coma instead. And I'm not mad at that, because I enjoyed the book as much as I enjoy that movie.
This romance is very formulaic as we all expect it to be and it does have one misplaced sex scene, but I really enjoyed it regardless. Cass and Devin's romance is cute and blessedly unproblematic (Hockman could've so easily made him a bad guy, but I appreciate that he's not), but it was Perry who swept me off my feet. From his introduction I was melting, and throughout the book I kept thinking, but Perry's right there. To hell with Devin; I would've chosen Perry from the get-go.
It's a basic romance much the same as Shipped, but I think that's what makes it comforting. You go in knowing exactly what you're going to get, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Thanks to NetGalley for my gifted copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Dream On is a cute book by Angie Hockman about a woman named Cass who wakes up after 6 days of being in a coma. When she wakes up she expects her boyfriend, Devin, to be there waiting for her. After talking to her mom and best friend, she finds out that she has never dated anyone named Devin. Cut to several months later and she runs into this man from her dreams. Maybe THE man of her dreams? After a series of dates, making new friendships, and a heartfelt connection, Cass wonders… Devin might be the man of her dreams but is he the man of her heart?
This is the first of her books I’ve read but I’ll definitely read her other works!
The premise of this book was very unique which I loved. It’s not your run of the mill #romcombook. The writing is beautiful and you easily get sucked in and read this in one day (it’s that good!) I loved Cass’ story and her journey from immediately following the accident to one year post loss and the developments that happen when she begins to re-enter “normal life”. I also really enjoyed the supporting role of Brie - she’s definitely a ride or die type of friend and after having survived the accident that she did Cass is for sure in need of a friend like this! The development of Devin and Perry has you rooting for both brothers but one of them definitely pulls ahead through the story. Furthermore, the twist, at the end, WOW, just WOW! Angie will be an auto-buy for me from now on! If you’re in need of a beautiful unique romcom for a future beach vacation- THIS IS IT!
4.5 rounded up. The concept of this romance was surprisingly fresh and I really enjoyed the cast of characters; I feel the build up was just right and the tension between the love interests was spot on. I appreciated that things were broken off with before anything truly happened as I hate when movies and books blur lines.
I will say the ending was too much too quickly/one “re-coupling” in particular was way too unrealistic, but I definitely enjoyed this one and look forward to Hockman’s next book.

What would you do if you discovered the man of your dreams was a complete figment of your coma imagination? What would you do if, a year later, you discovered he was actually real? Such is the premise of Dream On.
Cass Walker was on her way to becoming a big-time lawyer when a car accident landed her in a six day coma. When she wakes up, she’s devastated first to find that her boyfriend, Devin, isn’t waiting by her bedside, and second, to find out that Devon isn’t real. A year later, Cass has moved on with her life when a stop into a local flower shop puts her face-to-face with a very real Devin. But Devin has no idea who Cass is, and his brother Perry thinks Cass’s story is crazy. Cass and Devin decide to get to know one another and figure out why fate has seemingly made Devin the man of Cass’s dreams, but Cass can’t deny the growing connection she seems to have with Perry. What’s a girl to do when the man of her dreams—literally—isn’t everything she dreamed he’d be?
Dream On was a very fun read. The premise was unique, and I loved trying to guess where Cass could’ve encountered Devin before. Cass herself was a well-written lead, and I liked her realness. She was insecure, she was imperfect, but she refused to let her accident hold her back. I also liked that the author didn’t let Cass walk away from the accident unscathed; Cass suffered from some short-term memory issues related to the car accident, and although this injury only seemed to appear when it was convenient, I liked that it was included at all.
The relationship between Cass and Devin was interesting, and it was fun to see Devin learning about Cass at the same time that Cass was trying to figure out how Real Devin differed from Dream Devin. And then there was Perry—from the start, there was a spark between Perry and Cass, and the author went back and forth in making you wonder which brother Cass will end up with. I appreciated that she didn’t write these relationships as a love triangle and instead handled them with the complexity they deserved.
The only thing that I didn’t love about this book were the secondary characters. I liked the characters themselves, but they felt a bit flat. I don’t know if the author plans to write any sequels to further explore Brie or Mercedes, but I feel as if both of these women deserve to have their stories told.
All in all, Dream On was a fun read with a unique plot, dreamy guys, and lots of flowers. The idea of chasing your dreams even if it means making major life changes is very relatable, and I really enjoyed following Cass as she decided what and who she truly wanted.
Dream On was a solid follow up to Shipped! The entire premise was so intriguing and the love story was cute! My book club read Shipped and I think that they would absolutely love to read Dream On too! Angie Hockman writes strong female characters that are coming into their own, which I am 100% here for.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc. I was incredibly excited to read this one because the synopsis was so interesting. And at the beginning, I was loving it: I loved the characters, I loved the plot. But once the story started to pick up and it became obvious how it would end, I didn’t like it so much. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and I actually started to dislike them all: Cass was annoying me and all the other characters made me want to scream. Around 80% of the way through, I just started skimming. I enjoyed Hockman’s first book and I thought all it was missing was some spice, so I couldn’t wait to read this one (it had some spice which was good) but I just hated the way it ended. I often rate ebooks on whether or not I would buy the physical copy, and I won’t be buying this one. Overall, it’s a well-written book with a great message but it really just wasn’t for me. If it had ended more like the synopsis led me to believe it would end, I probably would’ve loved it.
Smart, funny, sweet, romantic book with lots of on page chemistry from the MC's. This heartwarming tale is a must read for all romance lovers out there.

I absolutely adored Shipped so I was thrilled to receive an arc of this book, but unfortunately it just didn’t fully connect for me. I think it was definitely more of a me issue though, because Angie’s writing style is still phenomenal and she always manages to create such well-rounded characters!
Cass wakes up from a coma and discovers that the man she’s been dreaming of isn’t actually real. Flash forward to a year later and Cass walks into a flower shop where she discovers that, surprise, her dream man is in fact real! This premise was SO SO intriguing and unique, but I think it just panned out to be a little bit too unbelievable for me, personally.
Overall Dream On was a cute read and although it wasn’t quite for me, I’d still very much recommend it to fans of Shipped!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review!
I read “Shipped” (Angie’s 1st novel) in one afternoon last summer & loveddd it, so needless to say, I was crazy excited to read “Dream On”!!! While I didn’t get to finish it quite as fast, I still thoroughly enjoyed and devoured Hockman’s newest stand-alone novel!
Lawyer Cass Walker wakes up from a coma with vivid memories and personal details about her boyfriend, Devin Bloom, & their relationship! However, she quickly realizes that she doesn’t actually have a boyfriend, and nobody in her phone contacts or on her social media is named Devin Bloom!!! Huh!?! What will she do!? That question is answered in this sweet book - with a little mystery & lots of love!
While I didn’t love the 🔥 scene thrown in during the last chapter, this was still a great read, in my opinion! Were some parts predictable!? Yes! However, this was still another wonderful novel from Angie…& I can’t wait to read more of her books…☺️
Check this book out on release day - 7/5 - for a cute rom-com that’ll leave you wanting to buy yourself some flowers & live out your dreams!

In all honesty, I am a fan of Angie Hockman, and while I enjoyed Shipped, I did not enjoy Dream On. This book was predictable and full of cliches. The worst was when Perry and Cass finally kiss, it's described as fireworks on the fourth of July.
As much as I was anticipating Angie Hockman's second title, it left me disappointed.
I enjoyed this work about the same way as I enjoyed Shipped (the authors first work) and that amount is *just fine*. I felt like the overall concept and plot was pretty unique and I was interested to know more, but there wasn't a lot of depth to the main character's relationship to Perry or frankly any of the other characters. Overall, I enjoyed the read but it didn't blow me away.
