This is an honest review in exchange for a #netgalley ARC.
I enjoyed reading Yasmin Fahr's content, and found the pictures to be beautiful and inspirational. Besides breaking down the content into meal type (breakfast, dinner etc.) I would've liked to have seen more tied to particular events and various holidays as well. Perhaps a future book!

I really like the pictures and photography in this book, and I like the themeing and some of the essays included with the recipes. Unfortunately, there is way too much cross-referencing other recipes with each other in this book - every time you’re like “oh, there’s only six ingredients in this recipe” they’re like “oh also reference this other recipe later in the book where you’ll need a whole wheelbarrow full of ingredients”, which I just don’t think is accessible! And I do think that a Board should be accessible; these just seem way too fancy to have the word ’simple’ in the title. It’s finger foods on a plate! This gets just three stars from me because of it. Full list of recipes available on my blog.

Such a perfect book for entertaining or just because. We love to make boards for all sorts of occasions. This book is going to kick up our board game! Lots of terrific recipes with store bought add-ons thrown in! Plus there’s pictures of every item.

This was a straightforward, simple read that gives some food for thought on how easy/creative boards can be. I certainly wouldn't have thought of how to create boards that are a full meal before reading this. That said, I was hoping for some suggestions on some simpler, snackier options that might require less cooking/prep work. Or some additional suggestions on how to make snacking boards more diverse/interesting. All in all I'm glad to have read it - hope it inspires me for an upcoming meal or picnic!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I usually don't go for cookbooks but this one caught my eye because my son and his friends entertain this way. I Would recommend this for nonfiction collections where entertaining and cookbooks are popular.
I’m always tempted by the beautiful books put out by Clarkson Potter, so I was thrilled when this advance reader request came through. As always, the clean layout and beautiful full-color photos of the digital copy did not disappoint. Overall, this book was definitely not a boring one - no cheese and charcuterie combinations to be found anywhere!

A series of boards to set out for entertaining or for evenings when you're in the mood to graze, this book has ideas for everything from breakfast to cocktails. The board combinations look fanatics, the photos are beautifully colorful, and all the recipes included seem straightforward and simple enough for those of us who aren't exceptional in the kitchen.

Boards and Spreads by Yasmin Fahr is both beautiful and inspirational. The recipes sound relatively easy to make and delicious and for the most part healthy. I have never made a breakfast board but am inspired to now after seeing her lovely take on one with Jammy Eggs, smoked salmon and Pickled Shallots. Yummy! So many gorgeous photos and foods for many occasions. I would combine this book with a beautiful wooden board for a great hostess gift.

The layout of the ebook I received was really wonky but I assume that will be corrected prior to publication on 8/23/22.

Many thanks to Netgally and Clarkson Potter Publishers for this ARC.

An easy to understand book about a growing trend in food. Would recommend this for nonfiction collections where entertaining and cookbooks are popular.

This book makes me want to attempt to make a charcuterie board. The descriptions and recipes are easily explained for the beginner. What sets this one apart, is the actual recipes. Many of the charcuterie cookbooks offer a shopping list, but few give full recipes for all of the items. For those that are already an old pro at making a board, you will still find new ideas. I look forward to finding this one in color (it is not in color on the kindle ARC).

I am obsessed with all things charcuterie. So this book is perfect! I love how it’s broken down by breakfast, breads, dinner and snacks. And then every part of the board is broken down and explained.

I have 2 kids and putting our boards of food makes them enjoy and try new things. It’s such a fun way to display your foods, be it for parties or just with your family. Any of these board would wow at a party! That’s always something I look for when hosting.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to host parties big or small! I love a wow factor and this is it. Enjoy!

Thank you to netgalley and Yasmin Fahr for the arc for an honest review

Boards and Spreads is a well written and beautifully illustrated guide to creating platter and board arrangements by Yasmin Fahr. Due out 23rd Aug 2022 from Penguin Random House on their Clarkson-Potter imprint, it's 192 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

The author has a very chatty and friendly writing style and her reasoning for grazing and boards as a dining choice really resonated with me. If you don't want to go to the effort of dining out, but at the same time don't want to expend the effort cooking at home - boards are a nice alternative. The introduction covers the basics of building a board including the board itself (not necessarily wooden), bowls, serving utensils, and food considerations.

The board setups are arranged thematically: breakfast, breads, snacking salad & veggie platters, meal boards, al fresco/picnics, extras, and dips spreads & fun things. The highlighted recipes used in the boards are listed right with the boards to which they belong, saving readers searching or bookmarking and having to flip back and forth. Recipe ingredients are listed in a bullet-style sidebar. Measurements are in imperial (American) measurements followed by step by step instructions. The book doesn't include nutritional information or portion sizes. The recipes are pictured with the finished boards and the pictures are beautifully clear and colorful. Most recipe ingredients will be easy to source and familiar to readers.

The dishes and boards here aren't *fancy* but they really *feel* special because of the presentation. I liked everything about this book, from the varied dishes, to the presentation, the clearly written recipes, and the beautiful photography and food styling. Five stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

If you’re looking for ideas for your next meal board, this book covers practically everything. Whether your a novice or advanced home cook, this book will inspire you to present your meals in a unique way. Perhaps even more appetizing and appealing to children. Besides, this is a wonderful way to get teens and new cooks easily involved in the process. The presentation alone of the Aries foods on the boards will amaze everyone.
I received an advanced reader copy for free from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This book is so delectable. I really enjoy Yasmin Fahrs content, so I was excited to pick up an ARC of her upcoming book, Boards and Spreads. I usually don’t gravitate towards cookbooks based on what I consider to be appetizer plates, but wow was I blown away.

The fear is that every recipe will be a variation of cold cuts and crostini (not the worst problem to have). What I found is not only that the suggested spreads would be wonderful for a party, but that they make a lovely looking and flavor packed every night dinner. Flatbreads, Garlicky White Beans, and Herby Yogurt Dip being something that sounds absolutely delectable.

Boards and Spreads has a real spirit of abundance- imagine having company over night and waking up to the Pancakes Board- Citrus Labneh Pancakes + Any Berry Compote + Other Fixings such as Caramelized Bananas, Butter, and Maple Syrup, or it’s savory breakfast counterpart- the Smorrebrod Lox Board. This board with shallots, scallion labneh, jammy eggs, smoked salmon, and sourdough/pumpernickel/toasted bagels. A lovely book for delectable meals!

Thanks to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter for my ARC!

Appetising colour photos of a selection of different boards of food. Lots of ideas with recipes and combinations and would certainly be very inspiring if you wanted something a bit different for a picnic or a small gathering of friends.

Definitely worth trying out a few of the ideas.

The set up on this was terrible and made it hard to read. I couldn’t tell what went with what. I didn’t hate it, I just couldn’t form an opinion based on what I saw.
