Lost and Bound had a cast of likeable characters and a fast paced plot. The writing was very atmospheric and built an interesting world in which the story took place. I think if the story was another couple of hundred pages longer, this world could have been developed further which would have been very beneficial to the overall story.
I didn't enjoy the writing style - the classical language took me out of the story a bit and I often had to re-read sentences to make sense.
However, overall the plot and characters made for an interesting read and I felt myself eager to keep picking this book up to see how the story would end.

This one was disappointing to me. Following Balthazar, and his two unlikely companions on a mission to... well... I'm not actually sure what they're doing. In large part because this writing style just did not make sense to me.
I blame that partially on my inability to understand Fantasy unless it's simplified to my reading level. I was especially frustrated because I KNEW I would really enjoy this writing, and I could sense there were a lot of jokes happening in the text but I couldn't get past the language enough to understand them.
This might be great for fans of fantasy that can appreciate the complicated layering of jokes and world building, and maybe in a different context my brain would be more able to unravel the mysteries of this story.
I'm still giving it a good rating, because I'm confident this is a great story, even if I couldn't make sense of anything on the page.

I liked it. It was unconventional and interesting. The cover is excellent — reminiscent of EAB's Black Snow, though the genres couldn't be more different in my opinion — and, I'm sure, will lure lots of potential readers to the story.

Unfortunately, this book and I didn't get on. I gave up at the 35% mark. I could see the potential, but I found that in an attempt to be humourous, the writing meant I couldn't fully engage with the characters. By juggling with multiple POVs, we never get a true insight to each character. It all felt very superficial. I'll give it that it's very action packed, but perhaps too action packed. I'd have liked a moment to sit with the characters and breathe.

I would be interested to see what else the author comes up with.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

DNF at chapter 6. I wanted to like this book, the premise is very much my thing but the writing….was not. It felt like a kid playing dress up, trying to be grander and smarter then it is. Every page stuffed with a thesaurus and any noun or verb had at least 3 adjectives/ adverbs. It tries to replicate the embellished form of writing seen in plays from 16-17th century but it is an immature reflection. I believe it is on kindle unlimited so maybe see if you like it more then me.

A good read with good characters. Different to what I normally read. Made a nice change. I loved the cover that's what drew me to this book. 4*.
