The Last Mile by Kat Martin is a thrilling romantic suspense novel that follows the story of Charlotte "Charlie" Cahill, a private investigator who is hired by a wealthy businessman to investigate the death of his daughter.

Kat Martin does an excellent job of creating a fast-paced and suspenseful plot that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are also well-developed, with Charlie being a particularly strong and independent protagonist who is both smart and resourceful.

The romance between Charlie and her love interest, Jack, is also well-written, with just the right amount of chemistry and tension to keep readers invested. The plot twists and turns, keeping readers guessing until the very end.

Overall, The Last Mile is an excellent read that is sure to appeal to fans of romantic suspense. The book is well-written, with a thrilling plot and strong characters that readers will root for. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced and romantic read.

According to me Matthew Reilly is the undisputed King of the Adventure novel, but I must say, Ms Martin is really giving him a go for him money! I haven't read the first book in the series, but the plot is interesting, the adventure gripping and entertaining and I really hope there is an another book in the series!

This Series Keeps getting better and better! Gage Logan. Danger surrounding his current client brings up old trauma and adds to his determination not to fall in love. But Abby doesn't make it easy, strong intelligent beautiful, and determined! Love their journey, how close proximity and challenges as they hunt for the Devil’s Gold, her desire to restore her grandfather’s name build a strong relationship between them and make it impossible to deny emotions and attraction.

After the reunion of the Logan Brothers in book 1 and their appearances in book 2 I'm more than excited for Edge's book, One Last Chance!

Good and interesting storyline but a little too much male centered sexual scripting throughout for my tastes

Abigail makes it clear to Gage that she is fully capable of going with him and his team on the adventure. Gage has issues with her going along, but eventually gives in. Abigail is a strong woman and I always enjoy books with a strong female character. I love how she is willing to do what is necessary to follow her dreams. The chemistry between Abigail and Gage is HOT like you can feel the sizzle coming off the page HOT. The Last Mile is the second installment in the Blood Ties series and you can't help but love this series. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Gage and Abby's story in "The Last Mile" has everything we expect from a Kat Martin read. The romance is light with a bit of steam at times, but the connections and action throughout made it a page-turner for me. Their story is one you will want to pick up to find out if they complete their mission and find the treasure. But just maybe the true treasure is facing them every day they are exploring. I was gifted "The Last Mile" via NetGalley, leaving my review based on my reading. 4.5 Stars!

Good book! For some reason this book took me a bit to finish?! When I first started it I just couldn't get into it?! This is one of my favorite new to me authors! So I finally picked the book back up and I'm really glad I did! This book had suspense, intrigue, tons of action, murder, mystery, and a bit of a who done it! Throw in some crazy twists and it was a great read! The storyline was very interesting, the beginning threw me off a bit but once it got going, it was a great book! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I could not believe that I forgot to review this book, when I had gotten this book eons ago and read it the minute I got it, because I love Kat Martin, I am a huge Kat Martin fan, I think I have read everything of hers, even the old stuff. So yeah, imagine my surprise when I found this book still on my shelf, yeah, I have told Ya that I have a lot of books that I haven't gotten to review, yes, I have read a lot just haven't reviewed, I am so ashamed... But let me get to it...
So, this is the second book in the series, you don't necessarily have to read the first book, but why would you want to miss the first book, I mean why? So, we meet Gage at the very end. I was interested in him. And excited to get his story. So, we meet Abigail, whose grandad unfortunately passes away, but leaves her a treasure map in his will. The bad thing is that it must be very valuable because people are breaking into her apartment looking for it. She goes to Gage to help her locate the treasure, after some convincing. However, Gage is reluctant to go with Abby, since he does not allow woman to go on expeditions especially since they are both feeling a chemistry, but Abigail makes it known he won't go without her. But now there is danger at every turn...Enjoy!!!

I received a copy of The Last Mile from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Kat Martin does not disappoint. This is book 2 of the Blood Ties series. It centers around Gage Logan and Abby, who was left a treasure map by her grandfather. Possessing the map places her life in danger though she is determined to finish what her grandfather started. She goes to Gage to help her, and danger and adventure bring them closer leading to a romantic relationship. This book is a great sequel, better than book 1 in my opinion. I can't wait for Edge's story! This is a fantastic read!

Kat Martin's THE LAST MILE involves a treasure hunt.
Abby Holland teams up with Gage Logan to search for the treasure.
There's romance and danger and secrets and of course the treasure.

Thanks to NETGALLEY for the ARC.

What I wasn’t expecting with this thriller was a steamy romance thrown in. Very rarely do my two favorite styles of books mix like this. I also went in totally blind to this because I have a tendency to do that.

This book was very well written, it is the second in the series but is definitely a stand alone piece, as I have not read any others prior to this.

I love a good female lead, with adventure, suspense and romance thrown in.

This twisty turner novel with a happy ending was pleasantly appealing to read. I would definitely read more of the books if this series continues to go.

Packed with heart pounding action. I've been reading Kat Martin for years and she never fails to deliver a phenomenal book. The dynamic, the chemistry between Logan and Abby will keep you turning the pages. Their relationship is addictive as is the hunt for the treasure itself. An amazing book and I can't wait for the next one.

Holy cow this has it all going on! From the very beginning I was sucked in and couldn't flip the pages fast enough. The characters are good, and the villain is so bad! This gives you everything you could want in a book. Action, suspense, romance and writing so vivid you feel like you are in a movie instead of reading a book. Well done!

An action paced romantic suspense; The Last mile is book 2 in Blood Ties. An inherited map, a lost treasure the prize but what will be the cost. Abby and Gage are well suited, strong characters, the story is well written and has you following with anticipation. I really enjoyed this one and will be in line to read more.

If you are a fan of adventure stories or movies like Romancing The Stone (not to date myself, but all I kept seeing were Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner), then this book is for you. I admit I am not a huge fan of these stories, but it was an entertaining story for me nonetheless.

Abigail’s grandfather has died and left her a map to a lost treasure. She enlists Gage’s help to go after it, but others want the treasure as well. Along the way, Gage and Abigail fall in love.

Kat Martin knows how to write great romantic suspense and I loved that and the overall mystery. The never ending trips and treks through the world was not my favorite.

Overall a good story and I look forward to Edge’s story.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.

Another great story by Kat. I do enjoy her writing although sometimes I wish there was actually a few less specific details. This is book 2 in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. This was definitely an entertaining, easy to read story.

The Last Mile by Kat Martin
Blood ties #2

Book two in the series sees Gage Logan, second son and treasure seeker, meet his mate and match in this story filled with secrets, adventure, gold, and romance. Will Logan find the treasure Abigail Holland believes is out there or give up on the incredulous myth he believes it probably is to explore further?

What I liked:
* Abbigail Holland: strong, resilient, intelligent, loving, kind, sensual, and her grandfather’s only hope of proving he has truly found a lost reassure of Gold…she is also kind of taken by Gage Logan
* Gage Logan: treasure seeker, brother, gorgeous, has women flocking to him, interested in Abbigail but also doesn’t mix business with pleasure…usually…
* Seeing the brothers of Gage again…Kade from book one and Edge (probably in book two)
* The fast pace
* The US and south of the border settings
* The mystery and myth and more
* That there was more than one baddie
* The chemistry between Abby and Gage
* Mateo: great addition to the team…wonder if he will show up again
* Knowing there is another book (at least) in the series to look forward to
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Exactly who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how greed, corruption, and evil is so prevalent in the entire world and the impact it has on all of us

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I've always been fascinated by treasure hunters, both the people themselves and the riches they seek. Martin delves into both in the newest book in her Blood Ties, The Logans series. True to form, she captured my attention in the first few pages and we were off to the races until the very end.

Gage and Abby were intriguing characters who kept me on my toes. I loved the fiery chemistry between them. It certainly kept me wondering what - if anything - would happen personally between them in those moments when they weren't hiking through mountains, dodging bad guys, and exploring abandoned haciendas. Yes, there's a lot of action and adventure in this story, and I loved it, but Martin did a good job of not forgetting the romance too. Though, I have to admit, I didn't know which way matters of the heart would go for these two. Gage had some deep emotional baggage that kept his heart barricaded and Abby refused to be "set aside" because of another's actions. I was enthusiastically cheering her on the entire way.

Martin kept me guessing the outcome of both the treasure quest and the romantic one right up until the final chapters and then she threw in another twist that - wow - I did not see coming, and everything was up in the air again. My advice is to not start The Last Mile unless you have a clear schedule because, if you're like me, you will not be putting it down until you reach the end. From Colorado, to Arizona, to Mexico, this one kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly flipping pages from beginning to end.

The Last Mile is the second book of a series but the only connection between the two is the fact that the heroes of the two books are brothers. Each book is a standalone story.

This is book 2 in the Blood Ties series but it can absolutely be read as a standalone! Soon after Abigail inherits a map from her grandfather, she awakens to someone in her home trying to find it. And whoever it is, they are willing to kill in order to get it. It was her grandfather's obsession to find the Devil's Gold, and hundreds have died trying to find it. She enlists Gage, who is a treasure hunter, to help her as she doesn't know who to trust. Gage has seen innocent people be hurt before and doesn't want to see it again. But he is intrigued when Abby shows him what else she got with the map. Now they are on a journey to not only find the treasure but to hopefully stay safe at the same time.

I really enjoyed this one! Abby and Gage have this chemistry that I loved but they are also smart and engaging with seemingly no fear. Until you realize that they do have fears like everyone else, they are just brave enough to face them! The suspense kept me engaged from the start and had me all over the place on who the bad guy was! But beyond that, it was just an engaging story that hooked me from the start! I loved how everything played out and the characters, including side characters, were written in a way that you can't help but love them and want to know more!
