A very topical novel which will resonate with many who worry about data protection and privacy and just what risks we take when going on line. Nik Byron is a terrific protagonist with enough flaws and misfortune to make him both credible and sympathetic. Pay attention to some of the other characters, too - Samantha is a fascinating creation with a lot more to her than first meets the eye.

Very good first novel. I'm often leery of an author's first go, but this was engaging, and included interesting dialog delivered by characters I enjoyed. I bet the thriller fans that pick this up will like it too. Recommended.

Thanks very much for the free ARC for review!!

Journalist Nik Byron saves the day in hack, by Mark Pawlosky. Secret surveillance apps that supercede anything previously known have been sold by a government agent to the Chinese. Byron is present when an explosion hits the site of the origins of the sneaky spy stuff. From there he learns more as author Pawlosky unwraps his story. The unwrapping did not always seem smooth to this reader, but the overall plot and the smashing start to the novel make it well worth the read.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.
