Denise Williams does it again with this airport novella! Two nerds find love in the most unexpected place. I was so happy to receive this advanced copy and it was everything I hoped it would be. Looking forward to the next novella! 5 stars all around!

I am fully invested in this series and this novella platform! It's exactly what I need - a great story that I can read in one sitting by the pool, on the boat, or at the lake!

Gia is stuck in the airport on NYE after a break up with her girlfriend. She kind of want to sulk in her misery but she meets this interesting guy whom she shares a connection with. Gia pushes all that aside when she returns home and focuses on her work. The problem is that her rival professor is the same man she met in the airport.

Felix is rather shocked to see Gia at work. They are assigned to make a few tours across country to various schools. The two seem to be at odds with each other professionally but personally the connection they felt before is resurfacing. How can they balance the two emotions?

I like the stark contrast in their personalities. Gia is very warm and kind. Felix is a bit of grumpy. At times, I did feel like the author wrote Felix too good because I didn’t always connect with him as Gia’s love interest. I would have liked more scenes focusing on the romantic element of the story.

I love that these are two characters of color in STEM. Lately, I’ve been enjoying romances that show smart, strong women in STEM. Gia definitely wanted to be taken more seriously and I could feel her frustration at times. The work dynamic plays a small portion of the story but doesn’t distract from the overall tension that the author displays.

This a cute novella with quirky smart characters that you will end up liking. Overall, I recommend for fans who want something quick to read on a lazy summer day.

I absolutely loving these novellas. Not every story has to be long to be good. In fact I’m loving how it’s not unnecessarily drawn out. Very excited for more of these!

I didn’t like this one quite as much as the first novella in the series but it was still cute. Sunshine and grump as a trope is so appealing to me and the audio version had great narration.

A cute story but I definitely enjoyed the first novella more. I didn't overly love the characters in this novella. Looking forward to the next one though.

I loved the slowburn romance and tension in this book! Academic rivals, especially set in a college/higher-academia setting, is one of my favorite character tropes and I really loved the chemistry between Gia and Felix! Both Gia and Felix were great characters to follow along on their own, but their dynamic truly shone when they were together. The timeline of events in this story was a little hard for me to keep track of, but I'm assuming it was because of the novella format of this book. Otherwise this was a great follow-up to The Love Connection!

This was a fun novella. It was a part of her aiport series. It was about 2 people who make a connection on New Year's Even stuck in a airport, then surprise, they end up working together. It was a sweet romance about opposites attract. She is extroverted and a bit chaotic. He is introverted, careful and surly. It was a good time. They were both chemists at a university, I like the STEM aspect. I enjoyed this story and the representation in it.

I thought this novella was so good- I wanted a full length book! It was an excellent grumpy/sunshine and the setting of the airport was so great. I predicted the "twist" but it still was enjoyable to read

Audiobook Review:
This is the second of the Airport Novella’s from Denise Williams. I really loved the first novella in this series and loved how this one was slightly interconnected with the first, but sadly this one didn’t knock it out of the park the same way the first one in the series did for me. I am still looking forward to experiencing the third installment of this series of airport novellas though.

What I liked: the meet cute!!! It was so adorable the way they were introduced in the airport bar as a way for Gia to get a seat at the bar pretending to be Felix’s husband to win the seat from another traveler that also wanted the seat at the bar.

What I didn’t enjoy: the chemistry between the two, it didn’t sizzle for me. I wished I would have really felt the connection between these two, but I didn’t. I felt like Gia had more chemistry with one of the minor characters introduced that flirted with her than she did with Felix.

I also didn’t appreciate the reason for the “enemies”, Gia made an assumption about him based on him doing his job and rightfully providing constructive criticism on her work. Constructive criticism should be praised, not used as a reason to have hurt feelings and act like you have been wronged if you have the chance to improve your work because of it.

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Books for an advanced copy of this novella in exchange for my honest thoughts!

I’m really enjoying this trend of short little interconnected audio novellas. While this wasn’t anything especially groundbreaking, it was a lovely way to spend a few hours this morning! The tension between Gia and Felix was perfect and this was delightfully steamy at all the right moments. I also really liked Denise Williams’ writing style and I absolutely plan to read the rest of the novellas in this series. So fun!

A delicious sweet morsel of yumminess. That is how I would describe The Missed Connection. This is the second novella with an airport meet cute. Williams brings back Gia, the best friend to the male main character in her first novella in the series. In this story, Gia is stuck at the airport on layover during New Year's eve. She meets Felix in the airport bar and the two of them bond over Doctor Who. The evening quickly evolves into an impromptu NYE date. Time passes and the two run into each other under completely different circumstances. Their unknown connection puts them at odds with each other, but who doesn't love an "enemies" to lovers kind of romance.

Gia is smart, sexy, and personable while Felix has this whole Clark Kent kind of vibe. On the surface he's a very straight forward, no nonsense, and work driven man while underneath he's a smoky kind of sexy. There is plenty of tension between the two as well which had me looking forward to the next page. The spice level is pretty moderate, but the relationship between the two is a lot of fun. Williams' does a great job at creating likable characters and an engaging story in so few pages.

Overall, I really liked this novella. Granted, we don't get a lot of background on the characters or a ton of depth. I would have really loved a whole novel about Gia. Despite my desire for more, I really liked the story, the tension, the interactions and relationship. It's a fun short romantic novella that I might just read again.

As a somewhat frequent flier- my only regret is not waiting to read this when I was traveling.  It was the perfect serving size for a layover- not too short, not too long- leaving me quite satisfied. And perfect for in between longer books.

Sometimes I struggle with the shorter length of novellas, but these did a fabulous job of capturing the elements I love in a romance in a compressed format. Fun and escapist with a sprinkle of steam albeit lighter on the eggplant scale than Williams' other books.

Gia and Felix had great chemistry, tension and banter. I love how she was off-the-rails fun and he was buttoned-up-tight not and they met in the middle.

The Missed Connection by Denise Willams is the 2nd book in her Airport Novellas series. Gia, our heroine, is at the airport, on her way home on New Year’s Eve; she is coming off of a break-up with her girlfriend. She meets Felix at the bar, and they spent the evening talking, which ended with a kiss. A few months later, she recognizes the man she met at the airport, who happens to be a rival academic who always criticized her work, and now he is her new coworker.

Gia is very outgoing, fun, friendly, and Felix is the complete opposite; he doesn’t like associating with others, keeps to himself and comes across as very stuffy. Though they both are very good at their jobs, they do things differently. When both are sent to visit academic schools across the country, slowly the sparks ignite between them; as they succumbed to their feelings.

When the trip is over, Gia surprises Felix, by claiming that perhaps they need to separate, as they are colleagues, and it will not go over well. I really liked Gia, and she was so much fun. I also liked Felix, once he opened up and fell hard for Gia. Will they be able to find a way to stay together or go their separate ways?
The Missed Connection was a short story, that was very well written by Denise Williams. I did enjoy the entire opposites attract romance, which was so very well done.

I am loving these airport novellas from Denise Williams – the first was a blast and I really loved the characters, but somehow I loved Gia and Felix even more! The best part about this novella for me is it was a novella – so short, sweet, fast and fun read, but it still felt like a full story to me. I honestly can’t wait for the next in the series, and sincerely hope these novellas will be released together as a paperback novel once they all come out.

💫Enemies to Lovers
💫 Female STEM lead
💫 LGBTQ+ Rep
💫 Some adorable banter

I loved that Gia was so strong and sure of herself, I liked that she felt real and definitely like someone I’d love to hang out with. I found Felix super charming in his own way too, so serious and a bit awkward. Fun, fast read that left me wanting more and looking forward to the next novella!

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for the chance to read an digital copy. All thoughts and opinions offered are my own.

The airport series of Denise Williams keep growing on me! I honestly enjoy the second book more than the first one! Female STEM choice as leading character and enemies/ rivalries to lovers troupe were the biggest reasons I went blind for it!

I already liked Gia in the first book of the series as Bennett’s friend. Now we have an opportunity to learn more about that outgoing, confident, smart woman who has no idea she had one memorable night at the airport with her biggest enemy!

The man she shared a passionate kiss is the same man who mercilessly criticizing her scientific researches. And now they’re stuck together as colleagues to visit universities and colleges. Poor Gia hardly restraint herself not to punch the man who unfairly tarnishes her reputation but she also hardly resists the temptation to tear his clothes off.

This is so entertaining, steamy, smart novella! If you enjoy the first book, I highly suggest you to read this one! It can be also read as a standalone! Just buckle up and enjoy the view up in the air!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

This was a really fun fast read, I’m really loving the trend of novellas being published, I’m almost sad that it was so short, I think Williams writes really good characters that I want to spend more time with.

3.5

reviewers seem to be unnecessarily shafting williams with the plight of the novella; it’s a novella! it’s going to be short! there won’t be time to do a lot! that aside, i do still williams’ full-length novels. i didn’t care much for the characters here, and i’m kinda over the whole airport setting (i’ll still read the third novella though lol).

The Missed Connection is book two of Denise William’s airport novellas series and as someone who travels a lot, I absolutely love the premise of this series and novellas about finding romance in an airport. This book tells us the story of Gia, the outgoing flirt we meet in book number 1 as Bennett’s best friend. This is a book about how opposites attract and how two people can be the puzzle piece that fits into each other’s lives. I love the chemistry and the back and forth between Gia and Felix. And of course, I always love a female STEM lead character. This book is a quick, steamy read and I couldn’t put it down. (It helped that I read it while on an airplane). I definitely recommend this book if you have enjoyed Denise William’s other novels or if you enjoy romcom novellas. Short and sweet and steamy, everything you need for a rom com pick me up.

Denise Williams is one of my favorite authors, and her Airport Novellas are the perfect, bite sized story.

Women in STEM? Yes please! Gia is professor who, while stranded at an airport, has a fun night with Felix. Unfortunately, it turns out that Felix is one of her biggest critics AND, to make matters worse, they now work at the same college. When they have to work together to tour other colleges, of course sparks fly. Can they work together and be in a relationship?
