I was a little late getting to this one too because I was confused about when it came out and actually got approved for the ARC after my friend had borrowed the eaudio from the library? Anyways, it is the second in a little trilogy of airport related romance novellas and I enjoyed this one too after having read the first one earlier this month. I am looking forward to the third one when it is released in June.

introduced in the first book, it is now Gia's story. She meets a stranger in an airport on NYE and they share a steamy kiss at midnight. Months later she sees him again when she is at an airport picking up a potential new colleague: the man who always harshly critiques her scientific research. Oh, and who does hot stranger man end up being? You've got it, grumpy new colleague Felix, whom she has to spent a lot of time with as they travel to different universities and colleges as part of their jobs. The attraction is still there but now they know they don't get along. But will that last?

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! My review will live in a story highlight called ARCReviews on my Instagram.

I enjoyed this book more than "The Love Connection" but it was still not as good as "How to Fail at Flirting" or "The Fastest Way to Fall". I felt like it lacked the depth of those first two novels. I loved the fact that the main character was bi but it seemed like an afterthought there was no elaboration. The chemistry was great and I loved the fact that the heroine was also a professor at the same university that was featured in "How to Fail at Flirting".

Another delightful airport novella from Denise Williams! Super smart, romantic, and funny, with great chemistry between the leads. I will be recommending enthusiastically and looking forward to the next installment!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This Novella was precious. I have a hard time with novellas sometimes because I usually want more and when they’re just right they usually blow my mind. The banter was so so good, the sexual tension!!! *chefs kiss*

As always, Denise hits it out of the park with this one!

This one was fun. I didn’t love it as much as The Love Connection, but I did enjoy it. Gia and Felix had great chemistry and were a lot of fun to read. The boss story was a little rushed because it’s a novella and I think I would have liked this one a tad more without it. But another win in the novella category.

*** Will be published on Smexybooks.com in June ***

Let me start by saying – I will read anything that Denise Williams writes, and I’ll probably love it. Her writing style just works for me, and I love her nuanced characters. When an ARC became available for an upcoming novella, I quickly volunteered to read and review.
This is the second in a series of three interconnected novellas that all take place in an airport, but I had no issue picking up book two and following along.
Gia is a scientist and professor, with a bubbly outlook on life, who is stranded in an airport on New Year’s Eve. She is a little lonely, as she recently broke up with a serious girlfriend, and she decides to chat up a handsome, taciturn man sitting at the airport bar. After one magical kiss at midnight, they catch their separate flights… until Gia meets Felix again at an airport, as she is picking up a rival academic, and she realizes it’s him.
Workplace enemies with opposing personalities, Gia and Felix battle their attraction for each other until they go on a two-week work tour of five colleges. Between Felix’s grumpy attitude and Gia’s outgoing personality, sparks fly as they are forced to work together.
Novellas can be tricky – the timing can feel too insta-love, and the characters can feel too one-dimensional, lacking nuance and motivations. In this novella, Williams was successful at giving dimension to both main characters through a dual POV, although Gia definitely left a stronger impression. Instead of a week, this novella takes place over about a year, and this longer time feels more believable given the scientist main characters, who naturally take a more measured approach to love.
What don’t we get? A lot of space for other characters. The two main characters share a misogynistic boss, and we don’t witness him getting any consequences. He – along with all of the other characters – are somewhat cardboard cutouts, given the space the author has to write with this novella.
Overall, this was a stellar way to spend a Saturday morning. The airport scenes had Love Actually vibes, which were charmingly cheesy in the best romcom ways. It left me with a smile on my face, and I’ll definitely be picking up the other two novellas.
This is one of those books where the audiobook will be published first – May 3 – with the ebook to follow on June 21st. I’m not an audiobook girl, so this review is specifically for the ebook version.

The Missed Connection is the second novella in the airport novella series which features Gia (Bennett’s best friend from The Love Connection) and Felix. This romance novella is a grumpy meets sunshine trope that dives into rivalry, academia, and starting over. Overall, this was lighthearted and fast read. I loved that we got glimpses of Bennett and Ollie from the first book as well. I can’t wait to read the final novella in the series, The Sweetest Connection!
