You Are Life is a joyful read. The vibrant illustrations will make readers smile and they reflect a range of diverse cultures and families. The art is perfectly paired with the poetic text. As a parent of children that are both Chinese and Jewish, given the rise of racism and antisemitism, this is an important and empowering message for children.

I really thought this was a good book and a great message. The artwork was sweet too. I probably wouldn’t personally buy it because I don’t think my kids would be a huge fan of the pictures but I enjoyed it.

A book definitely not directed at me, but one whose virtues I can see. It's an affirmatory list poem, defining the life and opportunities and experiences ahead for a young Asian American reader, calmly showing the commonalities and differences in that audience's two cultures and making sure they feel represented. They may love K-pop, colouring things in, traditional crafts, but it's all OK and their relocation and anti-Asian sentiment (especially in the light of Covid's origins) can be shrugged off and replaced by just some of what is great about our world. It's an appealing volume.

This is a beautiful love letter to children who need to hear these words and see themselves represents in books. Powerful words and colorful illustrations will be eye catching to young readers. I can see younger children enjoying the pictures but not being able to grasp the content of the words. Older readers will enjoy the poems and still enjoy the illustrations, as we grow we have less pictures in our books.

The illustrations of this book were cute but that was all I really like about it. It didn't have very good word flow. I liked the message but I didn't feel it was conveyed in the best way.

I really appreciated the bold, gorgeous illustrations that emphasized the beauty and brilliance of every single child. The color palette alone says that the mainstream messages about immigrants is wrong, wrong, wrong, as each image is filled with joy and wonder. The story can feel intense at times, as it repeats the lies that may be heard by bigots and politicians, but the reality is that kids unfortunately hear these things. We must call them out for the lies they are! Appreciate this honest and beautiful book.

Thank you, Capstone, for the advance reading copy.

This book is such a blessing! The artist. I feel so lucky to have read this book and actually feel the illustrations! Kudos to you and all the hard work you have put in here.

I absolutely love the writing. It says perfectly what it means to. The multicultural diversity is well presented. The food, the culture, the acceptance. Moreover, the parts which mentioned refugees make such a huge difference.

Thank you, author and the team, for bringing out such an amazing picture book. It's high time such books are everywhere and we learn to accept our differences and live in peace.

This book is gorgeous. Created for young children of Asian immigrants, the book is filled with affirmations for those who may feel like they don't belong due to racism and perhaps culture shock. This book encourages children to embrace who they are: their heritage, their American sides, and every aspect of their personality as kids. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, the story is so necessary, and I loved every second of it❤️

Wonderfully illustrated children’s book by #OwnVoices author and illustrator, at the height of anti-Asian hate in the US.
