Reading this book takes you further beyond Your Mom's House or Two Bears One Cave. If you love Tom Segura you will love this. He is hilarious and reading this never-before-heard stories of his upbringing and start in the comedy world are next-level funny and fun.

Thank you Tom Segura for writing this book! It's quirky and funny in a very relatable way. I read it in 3 sessions.

Tom Segura is one of my favorite comedians and his book did not disappoint. I love reading stories about people who have interesting lives and share their experiences. Best of all, his stories were hilarious.

The title of this book should have been Who I Met On An Airplane instead of I'd Like to Play Alone, Please. Having watched his comedy sets before, I was expecting to be laughing out loud while reading this book. Unfortunately, it seemed to be more about who he met and who he sat near on an airplane than about Tom's funny look on life. The funniest parts in the whole book were about what his father said, which does not bode well for Segura.

Those who are fans of Tom Segura in his comedy sets will likely be disappointed with I'd Like to Play Alone, Please. His brand of humor just did not translate well to the printed word. For these reasons, I would not recommend I'd Like to Play Alone, Please to other readers.

Essays from Tom Segura feel like watching standup on Netflix. It’s fun! It’s a little gross and crass at times but I audibly chuckled multiple times.

After seeing Tom Segura live last year I was SO excited when he came out with a book! I had this book on audio too and it's narrated by him. Tom is absolutely hilarious. His humor isn't for everyone but it's definitely for me. In I'd Like to Play Alone, Please we learn more about Tom's upbringing and crazy parents. His stories are priceless and had me laughing out loud and wanting to read them over and over again.

This was good, but it seemed recycled from some of his standup, which I'm sure is tough for comedians. It was typical Tom, though, so fans of his standup will enjoy this.

I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

As a big Tom Segura fan, I was eager to read this. I found it humorous read but a little on the dry side. I'll stick to watching his stand up performances.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC. This is my honest review.

I love Tom Segura so I knew I would like this book and....I did! My only complaint is that I wish it had dealt with more of this family stuff than his celebrity encounters but maybe he'll write another one for that.

Tom Segura is one of my husband's and my favorite comedians. We see him perform in town every chance we get and when I saw a book written by Segura, I had to get it! The collection of essays will literally make you laugh out loud - especially if you can picture him conversationally discussing those topics. Both my husband and I enjoyed this book and hope that he writes more in the future.

If you know or like Tom, you will like this book. If you don't you will hate it. You may only understand that, if you know who Tom is though; why would you be reading his memoir if you didn't?

Tom Segura has been one of my favorite comedians for a while now - I greedily consume any media he has, from Netflix specials to podcasts and now into literature, Tom continues to deliver.

I love that his voice comes through so well in his writing, because it's a major part of what makes him so funny. And his interpretations of other celebrity encounters, stories about his parents and his childhood, and now even his own children, is told in such a Tom way that I can't help but laugh as hard as I do listening to him.

I thought I knew a lot about Tom's life, especially where some of these stories I've heard before and gladly read about again, but there was also so much about him I didn't know and he spoke about things I never would have thought on my own (looking at you chapter titled 'West') and I just adored it.

Not all are meant for it, but I do love when comedians write memoirs or essays because they are just so delightful and allows me a new perspective on them as people and writers.

Tom Segura talks about what his life has been so far. I enjoyed hearing about his childhood and stories about him touring around as a comedian. I thought it would be funnier and more linear in chronology.

This book was true to Tom Segura's style of comedy and story telling. It was nice to be able to read how his childhood was and more about his late father. Overall, it was a great autobiography.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read the ARC.

I'm not one for non-fiction books, but when I saw Tom Segura was coming out with a book I knew he'd be the exception. I was lucky enough to be approved for an advanced copy of both the e-book and audiobook, which I am extremely grateful for. For the last five years I've been a big fan of his stand up and within the last two years, a fan of YMH. With that being said, if you are a fan of either or both of those things this book is right up your alley. Each chapter is its own little essay that is an easy read and above all else, hilarious. I highly doubt you'd expect anything less coming from Tom. Besides being outrageously funny, there are many heartfelt moments that I feel we don't see too often with comedians. This book and audiobook were incredibly well done and I'm extremely thankful to have been given the chance to read and listen to it. Stay high and tight, mommies.

By no means is this a groundbreaking or earth shattering book, but for fans of Segura its an interesting bit of seriousness from the comic

5 stars are not enough for this book. I never realized how much I enjoy Tom Segura until reading this book. I devoured it and could not put it down. I have recommended it to all my friends!

This was a fun read and provided some nice insight into the person behind the persona. I have enjoyed his comedy but sometimes found it went a bit too far and it was good to hear the thought behind the craft of comedy. The photos were great too

This book is hilarious. I was pretty reluctant to listen to this audiobook only because I wasn’t sure if it would be recycled comedic bits. Now, I’ve never watched Segura’s Netflix show nor have I even heard any of his jokes, but a lot of comedians have a similar vibe.. Right!?

Well, I was wrong. This made me laugh out loud. Segura’s stories were so wild yet completely believable. I felt as if I was catching up with a friend on the phone who caught me up on the events of his life. It was truly an easy and hilarious listen that made listening go by so quick.

While I thought this book was funny, the second to last chapter made me cringe. He uses the R word, basically defends using the R word (maybe he was joking and its a bit…?), but either way, I could have done without it. To be frank, I think it should’ve been left out of the book because yes, it’s that bad.

Besides that chapter, 10/10 very funny.

Big thank you to Libro FM and NetGalley for the ALC!

Content warnings: Ableism, fatphobia, use of the R word
