The Crash is an emotional, heartbreaking while also being uplifting at the same time novel. The cover and synopsis together made me really want to read this book. I am so happy I did! Catherine Miller had me in the palm of her hand throughout this book.

A tale of a couple, Susan and Mike. They are attempting to rekindle their marriage after so many decades together. They choose to go away to do this...it ends in a devastating accident. The events after this kept me so gripped, I was hanging on to every word on the page.

This is such an intense read that is packed with drama which had me smiling at times but had the power to bring me to tears as well. We don't just meet Susan and Mike, there is Zach and Chloe as well. Two people who are in need, I won't say why and what as this is a very unique storyline that will stay in my memory for some time.

Catherine Miller has definitely created such realistic and very well drawn characters that I immediately felt connected to them. She does deal with sensitive subjects in an empathic way. They made me really think about the subjects dealt with. A story that is about love, loss and connections that go beyond everything we would expect. I was sorry to get to the conclusion, I could have stayed in this 'world' for so much longer.

3.5 Stars

I’m always drawn to a ‘What If’ story. Maybe not probable but who really knows. This is definitely one of those heartwarming stories that focus on love and the benefits of organ donation. Slow and drawn out in parts, the story line was intriguing nonetheless. No great mystery but it was a sweet, and somewhat inspirational read. If you take away one thing, it should be to be an Organ Donor! This is a new author for me and would definitely give her another look!

A high school couple fall in lave and marry, have children. Forty years later, facing retirement the marriage is stale. Susan is trying to keep the marriage together so she plans a surprise getaway. Mike is skeptical, dealing with his own issues. Unfortunately, life changes dramatically.

Zach meets with a near fatal accident. Chloe has been sick from birth. These two are inexplicably drawn together during a hospital stay. Zach thinks he know why but will anyone believe him?

Thanks to Ms. Miller, Bookouture, and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.

Oh dear after reading many of the five star reviews for this book I fear a may have become a cynic. I didn’t fall for the heartwarming parts I’m sorry to say but simply felt it was a far fetched read.

My Review
Oh I did enjoy this read. I think I would best describe it as a heartwarming and emotional read.
I warmed to both her characters Chloe & Zach immediately.
Zach has had an extremely serious accident while Chloe has been living with heart disease all her life. Both are in need of a heart transplant.
We meet golden oldie couple Susan & Mike whose marriage hasn't been right for a while. On impulse Susan books a holiday for them to try get their marriage back on track.
A devastating accident however leads to Zach & Chloe each getting the heart they need.
Both need to learn how to live again with their new heart. Their lives are entwined though through a long lasting love.
I loved how the author took her time with each character to get them to their moment of realisation.
We see a beautiful friendship develop...
It was wonderful to see how Chloe's sisters took care of her when their parents were not around to do so.
Beautiful to see them nurturing their sister back to health.
A very unique story, so beautiful in its telling and not what I was expecting at all..
Author Catherine Miller writes so well...

Thank you kindly to author Catherine Miller & her publisher Bookouture for my copy of this book. Much appreciated.

BOOKWORMS review:
A short of love, loss, and the delicate subject of organ donation. When 40 years married couple Susan and Mike try to rekindle their marriage they head away together. Ending in a car accident, their deaths lead to life for others- Chloe and Zack, two people waiting on new hearts. Not to give the whole book away but the book deals with cellular memory and the idea of donated organs seeking out their companions. The author deals with this in a sensitive manner and we hear each chapter from different characters point of view. A bittersweet story beautifully told.

With thanks to Catherine Miller, netgalley, and Bookouture for an advanced copy to enjoy and review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ oh wow, what a wonderful novel of love, loss, family and friendships. The characters are all written and locations beautifully portrayed. I felt as though I was tagging along. Highly recommend

I was so excited to read this book! I always wondered about transplant recipients and the idea they end up with memories and characteristics from the donor but unfortunately, the writing style and character development was disappointing.

The story reflects the experiences of Mike and Susan (the donors) and Zach and Chloe (the recipients) in alternating chapters covering the past and present. It was way too slow for me. I wasn't expecting a neck break pace or anything but I had trouble with staying engaged with the book. While Zach and Chloe’s medical conditions were understandably sad and garners sympathy, it wasn't enough to do the premise justice.

I can see where the author was going with the message but it was so farfetched and it didn't feel natural or realistic at all.

Real shame but it was a solid 3 star read for me

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

First, I want to thank Catherine Miller, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Beautiful! Catherine Miller’s The Crash is written straight from her heart to her readers! You are going to want to clear your schedule and grab a box of tissues. This is one book you will devour in one sitting!! This is the ultimate must read for 2022!! This will pull on all your heartstrings and more!

Catherine would like to dedicate this book in Memory of her Aunt Lain and Uncle John who are together forever.

This is a no brainer but everyone is going to be talking about Catherine Miller’s The Crash way after they finish the book! There are so many very important messages written between the lines!

Every once in a while you get that book and wonder how they came up with this incredible inspiration for the book. Catherine has her own special story to share with her readers!

I absolutely adored Zack and Chloe’s story! It was an incredible story unlike any other you have read before-trust me! You will smile, laugh, and tear up!

This is a book about miracles, the ones to be seen and unseen. I am a firm believer in miracles as I have witnessed two of them! I thank God for them each day!

Catherine gives you an up close and personal in-depth look at what patients go through with heart transplants. Not just the medical aspect but the personal responses to it. It was very eye opening and fascinating.

So many times I was at the edge of my seat dying to know the outcome to each situation that presented itself. Many times the tears just started flowing.

I would absolutely love to see this book made into a movie on The Hallmark Channel!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Crash' by Catherine Miller

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Catherine Miller, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 30th March 2022.

This is the third book I have read by this author. I have previously read Catherine's 'The Missing Piece' and 'The Girl Who Couldn't Leave' which I highly recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'Fans of Jojo Moyes, Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain will fall head over heels for this unforgettable story about making every second count.' I am a huge fan of all three of those authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Catherine and if this is half as good as 'The Missing Piece and' The Girl Who Couldn't Leave' it is sure to be an epic read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 52 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, UK 🇬🇧. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture. I have actually visited and had holidays in England on several occasions so am looking forward to seeing if I recognise anywhere that Catherine has based the book on.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Zack, Chloe, Mike and Susan. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

Congratulations Catherine on yet another fantastic page turner!!! An absolute must read with vivid descriptions that set the scene for you. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.

Grab the tissues and clear your schedules as you will not be able to put this down!!!

I think one of the things I enjoyed most about this storyline is that although it was both heart warming and heart breaking it actually carries an extremely important message on how important donations are whether blood, marrow or organ and how your donation can save someone's life. I regularly donate blood and am on the list for marrow and although several people do this many more are always needed. Congratulations Catherine, I don't belive I've ever actually read another book that highlights the importance organ donations before especially during such an enjoyable storyline. If you can get yourselves booked in to donate blood, marrow or sign up to be an organ donor!!

The storyline is realistic and filled with love, loss, heartbreak, tears, important messages, fun, tragedies, romance, family and more. I was completely absorbed from the first page until late at night when I could only put it down because I'd finished it. A light hearted full of love and hope page turner with a serious message. It is a gorgeous book and can be read in the sun or curled up next to the fire. I was completely invested in the storyline throughout and on several occasions my heart was in my throat with what was happening. Make sure you read to the end where you will disciver Catherine's personal story that was extremely touching especially as I also have twins myself. The moment where several people met up (I won't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers) was extremely touching and definitely had me reaching for the tissues.

It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture. I love the fact that we could see what both Susan and Mike were doing previously and what led them to what happened.

This would make an absolutely stunning movie that I would love to watch!!

I was completely invested in the characters and I loved Zack, Chloe, Mike and Susan's characters. I also really enjoyed meeting Larry, Alice and Leona. They were all larger than life, realistic, strong and very likeable. I really enjoyed watching their friendship and relationship between not only Chloe and Zack grow but also Zack's friendship with Larry and Chloe's relationship with Alice and Leona. Larry was an amazing friend to Zack throughout and it was lovely to see such a close male bond between friends. Chloe was also very lucky to have such amazing sisters in Alice and Leona who stood by and supported her every step of the way. I would love to have a sister half as amazing and supportive as they were. I adored Chloe and Susan immediately but I must admit there were several moments were both Zack and Mike needed a stern talking to with some of the things they both did. However, they both realised their mistakes and I grew to enjoy their characters more afterwards. I really enjoyed Chloe and Zack's development throughout the book and loved watching them grow from strength to strength. A great eclectic mix of characters who worked perfectly for this storyline.

ABSOLUTELY loved this book Catherine and here's to hoping you've started on your next page turner. Watch out JoJo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks and Diane Chamberlain you have some serious competition here!!

Overall an unputdownable addictive emotional rollercoaster drama with a sprinkle of love, heartbreak, friendship and a serious message.

Genres covered in this novel include Fiction, Romance and Contemporary Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of JoJo Moyes, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Diane Chamberlain and anyone who loves a good read.

The Crash is such a beautiful and emotional story! I love the concept, and it was told so well with amazing characters that I was kept completely captivated. I think the different POV’s worked well with this book and I was drawn to each character and their story. I flew through the pages easily and gobbled up every word. I think I read something similar before but that didn’t matter, this was still unique and enthralling. I can definitely see this being a movie, and one that I would love as much as I loved this book! Fans of Jojo Moyes, Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain will fall head over heels for this emotional and unforgettable story about making every second count.

This was my second read of Catherine Miller’s books and just like The missing piece this was heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure. With hearts playing a major part in both books this time it’s around organ donation.

I have to say I instantly remembered the warmth of her writing as I was drawn into the story of Susan and Mike. From their meeting at the school disco to their stale marriage many years later and Susan’s idea of recapturing the spark.

Then out of nowhere along comes Zach with a chainsaw in his chest. No you did not read that wrong! It surprised me too. This was taking a turn rapidly and then I discovered he had been making a safety video about using chainsaws and the cleaner had accidentally plugged it in along with the hoover. Ironic and strangely amusing.

Also we meet Chloe who although her heart is in trouble she had mine from the get go and now she is about to get another.

This book while highlighting the importance of organ donation also manages a unique twist with organ memory. An original premise beautifully told with excuse the pun “real heart”. Characters that are ordinary people giving or receiving an extraordinary gift and second chances in more ways than one!

An absolutely beautiful story of an enduring love that transcends death. I loved Catherine Miller’s gentle writing style while telling this tale of two strangers who are linked by the hearts that have been given to them. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the love story of the original owners of the hearts that have lived on. I would definitely read more by this author.

Oh wow, ANOTHER gem of a book from Catherine Miller

This book had me hooked from the first paragraph and the way the story went from the past to the present to the past with such fluidity, it made me want to read it even more

I loved Chloe and Zach from the start and as I read the book further, I felt they were old friends.

This truly was a book I did not want to put down and really look forward to having this in my collection
