Really liked this one, haven’t read anything from the author before but was pleasantly surprised, it’s a good book that will keep you guessing and have you up all night with one more chapter 😂

A good thriller is one that keeps you up at night because you really don’t want to put it down, it’s one that makes you think about it during the day until you have some downtime to pick it back up again on your quest to figure out who the guilty party is and what’s going to happen. This is definitely that. During my sleepless nights with my 6-month old, this story has kept me entertained throughout the night and thinking how staying up to read this isn’t quite so bad - sort of.

Good twists, good ideas, and a well-written story. It’s a good read that had me thinking and questioning myself and my assumptions the whole time.

Enjoyed the short chapters and fast-paced read. Some really good twists and turns, although some were more predictable.

Sadly, this went from awesome to meh real quick. I had high hopes for this one. But it failed miserably to get my attention.

Thanks to Netgalley! Hoping for a better read next time!

The novel revolves around Cara, Rachel and Molly Martin. Three sister who’ve just lost their father mere 6 months after losing their mother. Dealing with their grief they will have just find comfort in one another .. until a secret reveals itself when they least expect it. Had their father Henry Martin had anything to do with the murders of 17 women? And will the sisters dig this secret up or keep it down?

I loved the premise of this thriller by Miranda Smith. It had so much to offer in regards to excitement, mystery and horror.
However it fell short at times; the plot was very predictable (but not bad) and the writing style irritated me at times. I hate too short chapters. 5 pages in one chapter is short, but three pages? That’s too short. And the jumping back and forth in time at the end ruined a lot of suspense you want to see in a thriller.

Overall I would want to read more like this but in hope of different writing layout!

3 for neutral, was unable to access my netgalley account for months, until today. Because of this, I was unable to see which books I needed to read. I apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully will not have any more issues in future.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's been a while since I read a mystery/thriller book that actually got me with the twist! From the beginning to the end, this book was pure entertainment. I flew through it all in one go. Well written and fast paced. A plot that was full of twists and turns. Intriguing characters, and a shocker of an ending. The only small niggle I had with it was, a certain scene near the end was a little anti-climatic. I can't really say more without spoiling things, so I'll leave it at that. Overall, this was a solid read and gets two thumbs up from yours truly.

Imagine mourning the death of your father and discovering a terrible secret that shows you that you never really knew your father, he's not who you thought he was. This is what happens to Cara, Rachel and Molly. The sisters lost both of their parents within 6 months. As they are going through some of their parents belongings they discover an unbearable secret about their father. This secret impacts all of their lives. The three of them all handle it in different ways. Cara, who is a true crime writer starts her own investigation into this unspeakable horror. Keeping secrets from her husband who is on the police force in town. She has other secrets she can't share even with her sisters. Rachel, who thought they should have contacted the police from the very beginning struggles with the guilt causing a downward spiral in her life. Molly, the youngest always had a special relationship with her father, and she struggles with her feelings alone. The shocking conclusion puts the sisters in danger as they uncover more secrets into their father's life. I read this book in one day. And I loved it all until the very end. I was disappointed with questions not answered. Maybe the author will have a sequel? I do however, believe this book is worth the read. Lots of secrets, twists and excitement to keep you turning the pages.

This is the story of three sisters Molly, Cara and Rachel. They are mourning the death of their father who has died just months after their mother’s death to cancer. After the funeral they stay at their father’s house and, not being able to sleep, they start going through his things in his shed. It is then they make an horrific discovery which turns their lives upside down. They find photos and jewellery which lead them to suspect that their father was a serial killer years ago. The sisters all have different memories of him and Molly is the one who is convinced that he wasn’t the killer. They decide not to tell the police or anyone and we find them a year later having gone their different ways, drifted apart and none of them coping. But their world is shattered again when a woman’s body is found and everything points to the return of the serial killer. Was their father not guilty, is there a copycat murderer or does someone know about their secret as more bodies are targeted. What other secrets are buried in the past? They must try and work this out before it’s too late. This was a gripping read. A book I couldn’t put down, full of tension and shocking twists. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Miranda Smith’s The Killer’s Family is a twisty breath-taking thriller that will keep readers up all night.

Cara, Rachel and Molly had once been as close as sisters could be. However, revelations had come to light after their father’s funeral that had severed the ties that bound them together once and for all. Molly is struggling to accept the truth about her father while Rachel is unable to forgive the ruthless cruelty and despair that consumed him. On the other hand, Cara has become obsessed with trying to understand what had driven her father to commit such barbaric and heinous acts.

When the news reaches the sisters that a woman had been found by the docks with her wedding ring stolen, the reports suggest that the local killer has returned back to town. The three sisters, however, know different as this murder is not the work of a serial killer – but of their father, Henry Martin. A message is being sent to the three sisters: somebody out there knows the truth about their twisted family secret. They know that the sisters lied to protect their father, but what are they going to do with this information?

The sisters must work together to uncover the identity of who is targeting them. With danger round every corner, Molly, Cara and Rachel need to watch their step and tread carefully because they have a vengeful enemy on their doorstep willing to do whatever it takes to make them pay – even murder…

Miranda Smith explores the complexities of family relationships, the destructive power of secrets and obsessive vengeance in her mesmerizing new thriller. The Killer’s Family is a cleverly written chiller that grabs readers from the start and exquisitely ramps up the terror, tension and suspense. Miranda Smith piles twist after twist and delivers shock after shock as she pulls off a jaw-dropping finale that will leave readers reeling.

Miranda Smith writes dark, intelligent and captivating thrillers that have to be devoured in a single sitting and in The Killer’s Family, she has once again penned a superb page-turner that will blow readers away.

As crime fiction goes I loved this clever tale of a family who discover a secret nobody ever wants to discover - the way the story unfolds is brilliantly twisted and the characters are formed so well. An interesting story and a credit to the genre.

When sisters Cara, Rachel, and Mollys father dies, just 6 months after their mother, they are left alone in the world. In a time when they would be brought together they are ripped apart. They find proof that their father was a notorious serial killer. When the killer starts killing again, they wonder if it’s a sign to them. But if they are the only ones who know, then who told?

I enjoyed this book. Nice short chapters with a fast pace that kept me interested. I didn’t find myself too connected to any of the characters, but I also didn’t hate them.

A few minor inconsistencies in the plot, but nothing major. Overall a good story the kept me on my toes and guessing who was behind the new murders.

Three sisters from a close, loving family loose both parents within 6 months of each other. Each grieves differently with their loss and proof of that comes to the fore when a shocking revelation about their dad, the epitome of a parent, sends them in a tailspin. They can’t bring themselves to admit his hidden other life in spite of all the physical evidence they accidentally fell upon that really leaves no room for doubt: he was a famous serial killer. They decided not to share this knowledge with anyone and their secret destroys their relationships with each other and those around them.
But was this discovery of the remnants of his sordid past really accidental or part of a well planned “reunion" of the family.
As the story moved along my alliance changed between the daughters as they each dealt with this secret they should have shared. Their personal narratives became repetitious and I wanted the story to get past their situations and when it did, I was ensconced in my chair till the end. A real thriller with quiet characters that have no correlation in the story but turn the story on end.
The term “the apple does’t fall far from the tree” holds true in this book.
