This is an educational book about teaching young children (ages 2-5) to perform practical life-skills for themselves. There is a list of twelve tasks and step by step photos and written instructions to show the child how to perform each task. There is also a tabbed checklist for the child to note when they’ve completed a new task and yell; “I did it!”.

The tasks included: Sweeping, Window Washing, Dusting, Clean My Room, Mopping, Scrubbing the table, Set the table, Washing Dishes, Make a bouquet, Caring for plants, Washing Laundry, and Folding Laundry.

I also impressed that there are notes for the caregiver on how to empower the child to learn these new tasks.

Children love to be helpful and learn to do things by themselves. This book is the perfect tool to help them learn basic life-skills.

The author is a certified Montessori educator with over ten years of experience. She uses Montessori philosophy to teach practical life-skills. She created this book to share this experience with you and your child.

I enjoyed everything about this book and think it is fabulous! It could be added to the child’s home library or could easily incorporated preschool, pre-K, or kindergarten class.

I want to thank Author Saniyyah Khalilallah, Storey Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This is a voluntary review, and all comments and opinions are entirely my own.

As a mom of an almost-three-year-old, I found this book to be extremely helpful and insightful in finding household activities that we can do together to further his motor skills and help with learning lifelong skills.

This book has colorful pictures to grab little readers' attention and gives assigned tasks to make a chore chart that they can cross off to feel accomplished.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read an early readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a fantastic children's book, which teaches children how to do basic household chores by themselves, such as sweeping the floor, washing dishes and dusting shelves. The photos in the book are great, and my daughter and I had a lot of fun reading through the book together. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I Help at Home! by Saniyyah Khalilallah is a fantastic Montessori resource for young children aiming to master independent skills around the home. I loved the easy to follow steps and inclusion of pictures with real children instead of illustrated photos. This useful little book includes a slider for kids to visually show "I did it!" for each skill learned along with tips and guidance for adults at the end of the book.

I will definitely seek out these books once they are published and would recommend for anyone with preschoolers, toddlers, young children seeking more independence, and for children on the spectrum.

Thank you to Storey Publishing and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.

As a mum to a fiercely independent 2-year-old almost 3 who wants to help with EVERYTHING, this book actually gave me some valuable insight into age-appropriate things to help around the home, whilst educating my daughter into actual life lessons.

I have made a note of the sliding chart at the back to create our own "chore" chart at home.

Thanks for letting me read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review

This is a wonderful book to help teach young children chores that we do at home. Little children love to help and this book, in photos, breaks down what equipment is needed, as well as step-by-step instructions to complete the task. It encourages skills such as organization, problem solving, following directions, and lifelong life skills.
Highly recommend this book!

A Montessori based informational book perfect to read with preschoolers exploring their independence and interest in contributing to the work of a household. With photographs of a child at work and the different steps and equipment needed to complete the task, this book will appeal to young readers. The author, who is Montessori trained, takes the reader through many different household chores that a child can participate in to build a sense of community, confidence, and independence.

While the child is the center of this book, the author includes information for parents and caregivers about the theory behind the work, the skills it develops, why the process is important and more.

This is a great book for libraries, classrooms, and home libraries.

This charming picture book that emphasizes children's chores and ability to help at home fits in nicely with the Montessori philosophy. I enjoyed the short passages with clear and easy to understand photographs. Families will enjoy using this at home, and teachers will benefit from having this in a preschool classroom.

Many families that come to the library are interested in Montessori preschool philosophies, so I intend to purchase this for my library and provide families with a child-centered book as opposed to the many parenting books we offer.

I was given an opportunity to review an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Reading with an adult first would be encouraging then they could read themselves and have their first accomplishment. The book is written for littles to read . The written word is well documented with its photographs demonstrating each step along the way even the little girl jumps for joy as she completes an exercise. Which a child can have such that same feeling after completing each exercise. I have always found small kids can learn it takes everyone in the the family doing their part for the entire group to function well.. Even the littlest can be a valuable contributor. Just having every family member required to remove their table service and load the dishwasher is a huge help. This is a fantastic book to teach kids they are big enough to do it there selvesSpecial thanks to #NetGalley, publisher, #SaniyyahKhalilallah, #IHelpAtHome!

This colorful children's book features many picture of real people and objects showing step by step how to do various activities around the house. Chores such as washing and folding laundry as well as more fun tasks such as making a bouquet and caring for plants are included in the twelve activities presented. I loved that children of various colors and backgrounds are shown happily doing each chore. This is a terrific book that shows the pride children have in helping their families get things done in the home.

I really enjoyed looking at this book. I think it is a great tool for my kids to visually see how a task is accomplished while also hearing/reading the steps involved with each task. I also liked being able to read and understand how this can help with developing life long skills. It was great seeing that the author took the time to work with a diverse group of individuals to be able to come up with this book.

I felt this was a cute and brief nonfiction that I tested with my beginning reader at home. She was able to read nearly the whole book independently. She also was inspired to help with chores at home. As a mom, I really enjoyed that.

As a lifelong believer of Montessori, I knew I would love this book before I even looked at them. BUT, it exceeded every single one of my expectations. The step-by-step instructions are simple but complete, the children are shown accomplishing tasks and feeling proud and the checklist on the side of the book that allows you to slide the little marker to the side when you complete a task really fosters natural self-esteem. The fact that they include a variety of tools for each job is ideal since children can match what they're using to the book no matter what type of broom or cloth they're using. I love the simple but modern-looking color schemes used throughout. It's approachable without being busy, just like all Montessori items. I can't say enough lovely things about this book!

I Help at Home is a fun and beautiful way for young children to connect with their surroundings, creating independence, order, concentration, and coordination.

As a Montessori teacher, I do many of these activities in our classroom, which we call Practical Life. It teaches independence at a young age, and I observe daily how children love doing these types of tasks. It helps to develop their fine and gross motor skills.

Frequently, my students' parents ask what they can do at home, and I usually will share activities that are mentioned in this book.

This book is easy to follow and has fantastic pictures!

I recommend this book for all parents who want to help with their child's development and growth!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! My kindergartener simply loved being able to read to me. I loved all the bright primary colors and attention grabbing imagery. She loves to help but since reading this as our bedtime story last weekend she wants to do all the things! Thanks again! We will definitely be adding this to our books to gift our friends!
