Made in Hawaii is a collection of short stories of life in Hawaii.

Each story is a vignette, featuring different people at different stages in their lives. Some of the stories have a happy ending; many more deal with the complexities of love and loss or trauma. These are true slice-of-life stories of the ordinary people who brush shoulders with the extraordinary: ordinary moments that are extraordinary to those living them.

While the stories are distinctly separate, written in their own styles, there is a cohesion to them that speaks to a bigger picture of the people in Hawaii, and acknowledges the people behind the scenes of one of the world's most beautiful places.

~Many thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~

Overall I enjoyed these short stories. All of the stories are set in Hawaii and have a wonderful island flavor. However I also found the majority of the stories very sad, dealing with loss and missed opportunities. Only a few had happy ending. The book is well written and easy to read.

Several short stories about daily life in Hawaii. A quick, easy read with some sad endings but you get perspectives of Hawaii life from all different walks of life.

This is a collection of short stories about different life experiences in Hawaii. #onesentencesummary

My second Netgalley read 😁

Normally it annoys me when a story leaves me with a cliffhanger or is unfinished- but these stories were great as is.

It was really cool to read stories told from different perspectives and about different topics. I enjoyed them all and took pieces of each with me.

I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for some terrific short stories connected to Hawaii that aren't strictly told through the kanaka maoli lense.
