I couldn't put this book down. It was one of those you stay up late reading because need to know how it ends. I loved that both Diana and Giles were strong and independent before the love story developed. This book is clever and cunning, with just the right amount of steam and drama.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.

Thank you so much for the ARC.

Dear editor, rattling skeletons were mentioned 22 times and buzzing hornets 14 times. Please fix it. It’s distracting and annoying and repetitive.

Now that that’s out of the way… this is overall a good book. It was entertaining and the little dash of mystery kept me guessing. Giles and Diana are a solid team and I can see their partnership succeeding long-term. I love that they went from enemies to friends to lovers. I loved their banter. Giles is a generic HR hero—rich, strong, tall, handsome, powerful…but wait…what if he is a *bastard*? Diana is an anachronistic heroine. Too independent. Too bold. Too modern. She just didn’t fit in that timeline.

The secondary characters were hilarious. They really added depth and humor to the story.

The sexy scenes were slightly awkward. Lots of “ohhhhhhh…” and “oooohhhh…” Those can probably be edited as well...

This turned out to be a decent historical romance and I would love to circle back and read the first

The writing in these books is just so whip-smart and GOOD. I loved getting more of Giles & Diana and both of their characters are so vibrant and real. The emotions literally vibrate off the page. Despite being a regency-era novel the romance feels modern & relatable. Just *chefs kiss*

P.S. I just noticed/understood the bee’s nest on the cover and fell in love with this book all over again.

I saw someone on Instagram had read this one and liked it and it seemed right up my alley. I liked it as I definitely appreciate a strong female character in these historical romance books much more than some damsel in distress. I appreciate it when the female main character can stand on her own 2 feet and handle things. The story had a fast moving plot with some twists to keep things interesting and was able to keep my attention throughout the story. Definitely recommend if you like historical romance novels. I received a complementary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I refuse to finish another politically correct book. If you want to distort and criticize a time period that is your right, my right is not to read the remainder. If as an author you dislike Historical Romance, then change genre's, do not inflict your feminist agenda on those of us who don't hate our husbands, brothers, or male friends simply because they are nice men! Simply due to receiving a free read, does not buy my integrity. I hate having to write these words, I was looking forward to a nice read after reading a serious book, to my disappointment that is not what this story is; the premise is promising, it is a shame that politics were more important than entertaining readers, this reader especially.

Such a fun read. I am loving this series and enjoyed this book even more than the first.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for making this ARC available.

I love regency era romances so I’ll admit I was very excited to get the chance to read Never Rescue a Rogue. I absolutely loved it! The trope is frenemies to lovers which I adored. The pair supported each other while also continuously taking playful jabs at the other and it was so fitting for them.

So much of the book had my on the edge of my seat. I was enveloped from page one, and with plots such as a slow burn romance, and family mysteries I just wanted to continue reading. I enjoyed the slight mystery aspect to this as many romances are just about the couple and not much more.

Although the book takes place in the regency era (1800s) I felt that the characters were so personal and I understood them, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was much more than reading about a new duke and a commoner from the regency era, you really get to know their stories and who they are. Although I adore Giles and Dianna, the whole cast of characters is enjoyable, those from the previous book that make their appearances, and new characters that are very enjoyable! It made it a truly fun/page turning read!

I rarely pick up a historical romance, and it wasn't till Bridgerton that I'd ever consider them, but every once and a while I'm reminded why this is such a beloved trope. Never Rescue a Rogue has a lot of similarities to Bridgerton but I felt like it does everything better.

Diana and Giles have amazing banter and they flip between hating and appreciating each other so much throughout the entire book! I loved every scene together and their inner thoughts as the book goes on!

Diana has an amazing storyline for a female of her time and I throughly enjoyed seeing that play out in the background. Giles has secrets and naturally the only person who can help is Diana. There is so many twists and turns that keep you on your toes the entire time!

Solid enemies-to-lovers with a rare element of mystery that wasn't obvious. This is the second book in this series and is definitely worth the read. The first is not as compelling, so you could just read this as a standalone and aren't missing any crucial info.

At about the halfway mark of this book, I did actually start to care about both characters. I loved Diana's independent and stubborn spirit and Giles vulnerability and determination to protect those who depend on him.

Before the half way point, it was a little tough. Giles did not appeal to me, he just seemed to lack substance. There was also a bit too much repetition from both characters rehashing how much they hated each other. However, once we hit the halfway point, the characters started being honest, we saw their vulnerabilities and strengths. They became much more relatable and likeable. AND their chemistry was pretty good.

As well, getting both characters background and seeing their patience with each other was really compelling.

The mystery element to this book really added to the plot and was really well crafted. It was one of those rare ones that you didn't guess from the get go. It also made me like Diana more to see her intelligence and deductive reasoning. It was actually impressive the way she methodically found answers. I've read a few mysteries lately and they always seem to require the solver to have some random piece of info vs. just be good at sorting things out.

In the previous book…Vee was pretty annoying. To the point I didn't know if I wanted to take this book on with her in it. If anyone else felt that way, you will be pleasantly surprised that she's matured considerably and is a lot more interesting.

I am definitely going to read the next book, assuming there is one about the final sister.

I want to thank St. Martin's Publishing for sharing this eARC with me. I had read and reviewed the eARC for Never Fall for Your Fiancée and fell absolutely head over heels for it so I'm grateful the sequel was shared with me. Never Rescue a Rogue improves upon its original existing universe and I had a fantastic time reading this. Never Rescue a Rogue follows the second of the Merriwell sisters, Diana, and her personal nuisance turned unlikely friend, Giles Sinclair. While everyone around them is rooting for them to end up together, the pair of them simply don't see it that way! That is, until Giles finds himself in need of Diana's top notch journalistic skills to uncover his recently deceased father's closely guarded secrets before he's blackmailed and stripped of his titles. While the two of them team up to pick his past apart, Diana and Giles can't help but consider whether their futures really are as intertwined as everyone hopes they are.

There's an abundance of clever wordplay, alliteration, witty humor, and outrageous shenanigans to make the reading experience of this book truly a delight. The characterization and progression of their blossoming romance was an exciting, tender slow burn with an incredible payoff. I adored Never Rescue a Rogue and am excited to continue returning to Virginia Heath's world in the future. I can confidently say this is one of my favorite books of the year.

Never Rescue a Rogue is the second book in The Merriwell Sisters series and is an angsty, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance full of meddling relatives. The chemistry between Giles and Diana is undeniable. There is so much going on in both characters’ lives, and so many secrets are about to come out. The second book of The Merriwell Sisters series is absolutely a must-read. I’m looking forward to devouring the third book.

I’d never read anything by this author before and it seems as if there are a few books before this one in the series about other sisters. But that didn’t deter from enjoying the book and knowing what was going on.

Based on the description I realized this is was a Regency rom com and I was disappointed in the list. Witty banter aside, (which was good!) the storyline was solid and when the truth was revealed at the end, I was so happy for Giles. This was a slow burn romance and worth the wait.

Giving Diana the job of investigative reporter in a time when women didn’t work was excellent. And the fact that Giles, once he found out about it, learned to be accepting of her career after first balking, was refreshing for the Regency era.

All in all a good first book for me to read from Ms. Heath and I recommend it to anyone who likes historical romcoms, strong heroines, and HEA!

4 stars. Thanks Netgalley and St. Martin’s press for a sneak peak.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s press for the ARC of Never Rescue A Rogue.

This was the first historical romance I’ve read and I loved it. The writing was sharp and seemed true to the era.

The characters were so thoughtfully developed and interesting. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I especially like that the sisters and Olivia have feminist energy. The author did a good job of sharing background as this the second book in a series. I never felt left out by reading the second first. This series can definitely be read as stand alone.

I thought it was a bit slow at points and I had a hard time getting hooked but once I was it was hard to put it down.

I really enjoy Virginia Heath's books. Her writing, her humor and the characters she creates are fantastic. She really shines with cynical, jaded women, charming men and enemies-to-lovers stories. Never Rescue a Rogue is a fantastic, entertaining read that will be worth a re-read, and an audiobook listen after that. It is so good!
Right off the bat, clever descriptions and the dialogue is so snappy, so good-- I had to read it over and over several times because I enjoyed it so much. I love the descriptions that Giles has in his head of Diana, and their sparring is absolutely delightful. Giles' readiness to express his feelings is so sweet and refreshing, and Diana's begrudging stubbornness to help the man she feigns to dislike is so entertaining. I love those two together.
The secondary characters are great-- I love the Hugh's mother, the Merriwell's substitute mother's nosiness, the butler and housekeeper's not-so-covert competitiveness, and we get updates on Hugh and Minerva! Diana's younger sister, Vee is a delight in this book and really redeems herself from the first book. But back to Hugh's London butler and country house housekeeper. So good! Their fights to one-up each other were so funny, and the dialogue between Hugh, the butler and housekeeper had my almost crying with laughter.
The plot is pretty good, I do like the plot of the first a little more but this book is more active, if that describes it well, and it keeps the book moving and entertaining.
Never Rescue a Rogue is the second in a series, the first of the Merriwell sisters series (Never Fall for Your Fiancé) is one of my all-time favorite HRs, so I was very excited to receive this one as an ARC! I cannot wait for HR fans to read this one. I highly recommend this clever, funny, fast-paced book!

Diana and Giles did not disappoint! Top notch banter and fun story. Vee is still a mystery to me, so I am looking forward to her book as well!

Thank you SMP, NetGalley, and the author for the eARC in exchange for my review.

Oh my goodness this was such a delight to read! All the stars from me.

I remember loving Diana in the first installment. She's fierce, independent, whip-smart, and zero tolerance - and even better, her quarrels with Giles in book one left me craving for more. I was so thrilled when I saw this come across my feed. It's everything I wanted in an annoyance-to-lovers romance (with all the UGH why are you around and why do I have to care about you vibes). Because oh my gosh. The tension. The TENSION.

And the high stakes. Giles is in trouble. His dukedom (and everything else) is about to be stripped away, and Diana won't stand for it, even if Giles annoys her to no end. Commence all the spy-vibes and shenanigans.

But I'll stop there because it's better if you don't know.

Either way, you'll want to pick this up! Not only is the plot SO MUCH FUN, but the writing is absolutely stellar (and hysterical). I liked book one, but this one is on another level!
