I have to begin my thanking St Martin’s Press for inviting me to read the ARC of this ebooks. This is the second book in the series and I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

It is seldom you will fin so much humour in a romance from this era. They are usually all anguish and lust but this author knows how to write an absolutely delightful rom-com with an added touch of despair. The characters are such a mismatched bunch of people but they all got together as one big happy family.

I highly recommend you read both of these books. You won’t be disappointed.

This is the second book in a series and I highly recommend starting with the first, I attempted to read this book as a stand-alone and had to stop 20% in, purchase the first, read it and then finish the second, Diana and Giles backstory is too important to miss out on. I love the development of their relationship from going to denying their feelings to finally getting together (AT THE END OF THE BOOK)
I feel like Venus was the worst part of this book (and quite frankly the entire series)
I love a good enemies to lovers with a slow burn but this was almost a litttllleee too slow for me. Overall I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the third!

Diana Merriwell is determined to live on her own terms. That means working at a newspaper and never needing a man. Giles Sinclair is shocked when his father passes away suddenly and becomes a duke. But Giles may be a bastard and his cousin may step in for him. Giles asks Diana to use her research skills to help him prove that he is the rightful heir. Diana and Giles have a lot of friendly banter, but over time they realize they might like each other. Giles makes the first move, but Diana is reluctant. I enjoyed the anticipation of them getting together, which does not happen until almost the end of the book, but the book dragged at times. There is a HEA, but the book ended rather abruptly. I also found Diana’s sister Venus (aka Vee) super annoying. She was also annoying in the first book in this series. If she is the subject of the next book, I might have to skip it.

My interest in these two main characters flaired to life during book one of the series when we get to see the banter and exchange of tension between these two characters, so it was a delight to get to read their story. At the start of this book, Diana and Giles are adamantly denying that they have any attraction for one another. But as secrets are revealed from both parties and threats to their future security come into play, they are both forced to rely on one another and see if they can trust in one another when they need it most.

What I really enjoyed most about this story was the development of both of these characters, getting to know more about them and the way they think, what makes them vulnerable and how that impacts the way they see romantic relationships. This was an entertaining and enjoyable story and I appreciated the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

I was so so so excited to read this novel when the first Merriwell sisters book was my absolute favorite arc of 2021. I can confirm this book was just as amazing as the first! I loved how everyone thought Diana and Giles should be together except for them-cut to me chanting in the background "now kiss"-I love when characters pretend they aren't into each other because we all know how that goes. Additionally, I loved the main plot of the book and how Diana was just the person to help Giles-Martha did a great job of keeping the story AND the romance interesting. This book was absolutely hilarious, i'll put it right up on the shelf next to the first, and I cannot wait for the third one!

Never Rescue a Rogue is the second book in The Merriwell Sisters series but worked very well as a stand-alone book for me. This is a fun book with both Diana and Giles engaging in witty repartee. They are the perfect slow burn - they bicker, have chemistry and are likeable.If you’re looking for a light, romantic escape with charming characters, definitely check out this book.

Diana is my favorite part of this whole book. I loved how she is a woman with a career that she loves. The whole concept of this book is like no other I’ve read.

Virginia Health knows how to write smart Regency women. Her books, and the relationships within them, feel more authentic than others in the genre.

Never Rescue a Rogue is the second book in the Merriwell Sisters trilogy. I do recommend reading them in order as Diana and Giles have a backstory in book 1 that feeds into this story. Diana is now a fully fledged investigative report (who moonlights as a gossip columnist). She is determined to be independent and make her way in the world without being forced to marry. Giles is dealing with his past and coming to terms with a future he is not ready to face. The two continually support each other and develop a believable relationship.
While not as humorous as book 1, this is another strong addition to the genre.

This was a pure delight. It was a perfect blend of romance, comedy, banter and the banger chemistry. Overall, a full five stars read for me.

The jury is out: I really, really like Heath’s plots! In both books of the series, the romance isn’t burning up the pages, but the story overall is fun, humorous, and heartwarming. I really liked the ending of this one (a side romance and the planted seeds for the next book (👀👀👀👀👀)) and the relationship was very cute.

The sex scene actually gave more than I thought??? I can def see people get disgruntled at the MAJOR slow burn if they aren’t into the plot as a whole (I did even tho I was enjoying the story)…but that seems to be Heath’s M.O. so idk what more to tell ya. I was also endeared to the family going in because I really enjoyed book one (mainly because of the side characters like say what you want but the Mozart seen was FUNNY). So if you’re willing, I’d say give that one a shot before reading book two.

The majority of the book was probably 3.75⭐️ but the ending was very enjoyable and I’m super happy with what is being teased as book three!!! I thought I was going off the rails a bit when I was playing match maker but !!!!!!! my hopeless romantic heart wins again 🥹 All in all, it wasn’t an emotionally taxing read, I enjoyed my time, the ending was great, and I loved the characters. I’ll definitely be back for book three.

Never Rescue a Rogue was everything that I expected it would be and more! It was the perfect sequel to Never Fall For Your Fiancée and I enjoyed every moment of it. The moment I began this book I was sucked into it just as I was with the first, eager to see what would become of Giles and Diana. The pacing of this story was done very well, it was a very easy and swoon worthy read! This book had me on the very edge of my seat and each time I reached the end of a chapter I found myself eagerly moving onto the next without stopping. Giles and Diana had such a natural and easy banter that only kept building up their chemistry and romantic tension. I enjoyed how well they both seemed to suit one another like two halves of a whole and them denying their feelings for one another only made the build up of their relationship that much more enjoyable when it finally came to a head.

I absolutely adored the humor in this book! Not only was it charming, sweet and absolutely adorable, it had such a wonderful witty and sarcastic edge to it. The snarky remarks that flew back and forth were so well placed and timed, which I adored. I love being able to come back to the world of this book, once again the author put in so much beautiful detail that I felt thoroughly immersed.

I really enjoyed discovering more of Giles and Diana’s personalities and lifestyles through this book, I was even pleasantly surprised to find myself relating to Diana in some way. I found her to be a very admirable character and I love her constant desire for truth and setting things right. She might have been stubborn and set in her ways about things, but that only made her more interesting and enjoyable as a character. I also enjoyed how noble and gentlemanly Giles was, always putting others before himself and wanting to see those he cared for safe.

It was such an absolute joy to be given the chance to read this book! This is a book I would highly recommend to anyone who not only loved the first book but who harbors a great love for historical romances that will have you swooning and leave you wanting more. I cannot wait for the next book and I look forward to seeing what will become of Vee Merriwell in her story!

This is an angsty, slow-burn romance full of meddling relatives.

Everyone thinks that Diana and Giles are meant to be together, except Diana and Giles. Diana has no desire to marry and is happy focusing on her secret journalism career. Giles, the new Duke of Harpenden, inherits the title in the midst of an unravelling mystery surrounding his parentage. When Giles requests Diana’s help to save his dukedom, the pair are thrown together and can no longer avoid their feelings.

This book was so fun and I adored the trouble Diana and Giles seemed to always find themselves in. I’m such a sucker for main characters being oblivious/in denial about their feelings for one another but not being able to fool anyone else and this book had that in spades.

If you like slow-burns, enemies to friends to lovers, and strong heroines, you’ll adore this fun regency romance!

Yay! Since I’ve read first book of Merriwell Sister ( probably all of them will be married well at the end of the series) I was so excited to read Giles and Diana’s love story. Giles: the best friend of Diana’s brother-in-law, the very same man she likes to have long quarrels and witty banters.

I expected this would be a great enemies to lovers story!

This book was more action packed and serious than the first one. At some parts high chemistry between Giles and Diana overshadowed by their complex problems they have to deal. As I told you before there are so much going on in both characters’ lives and so many secrets are about to come out.

Diana keeps secrets from her family, telling them she’s nitpicking grammarian at the Tribune- highly popular newspaper. They think sometimes she’s writing for a gossip column but they can never guess she’s the famous Sentinel - the truth seeker, digging up real dirt and exposing criminals.

And Giles keeps dirty secret about his family: he’s a bastard child and he doesn’t know the identity of his real mother. Now his ruthless father Duke of Harpenden is death before marrying with Dahlia Regis at his half age to have a legal heir. Giles suspects his father’s extra restless demeanors before his death that somebody knows this big secret. Anyone has enough knowledge about true circumstances of his birth can turn his life into hell.

He needs an ally to dig out the truth about his family and a dark-haired vixen who never minced her words or pulled her punches might be the answer of his problems. But in the meantime this same woman is constant pithy, prickly bane of his life.

He cannot resist her charms and the attraction between them is palpable. There so many things at stake. Could they have their HEA by fighting against the danger lurking around to ruin their lives.

Overall: Dalton stole some chapters, becoming my favorite supporting character. This book was truly exciting. The secrets, the schemes, the powerful dynamic between Giles and Diana hook me up from the beginning.

Second book of the series is absolutely a must read. I’m looking forward to devour the third book.

Such a good story! Amusing, delightful, and good read! It has all the qualities of a great HEA! I really enjoyed the banter between Giles and Diana, and their unlikely attraction to each other. Giles’ search for the truth with Diana’s help made for a very interesting read!

This was a fun read. I enjoyed the strong character development and the little mystery. I always like a random rogue in my reading! Recommended for collections where romance is popular,

This book was a fun treat! I loved it! It was a good reset after I read a heavier book. It kept me flipping pages well past my bedtime!!

I loved Never Fall for Your Fiancé and was thrilled when I heard this book was coming out. Diana and Giles' story did not disappoint! I loved everything from the cameos of Hugh and Minerva to the plot surrounding Giles' parentage. Unlike some historical romances, this book contains a plot outside the romance and that makes it so much better to read.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in historical romance, although you should definitely read Never Fall for Your Fiancé first (not because it's necessary for the plot but because it's also a great book).

I cannot wait for Vee (and Galahad's...??) story.

Devoured this book! An absolute delight.

I read Never Fall For Your Fiancee when it came out, and I wasn't terribly blown away by it. It was good, but not great. I think I gave it 3-3.5 stars.

But as soon as I saw this story was about Diana and Giles, I knew I had to read it. There's nothing I love more than a reformed rake, especially when paired with a headstrong woman.

The pacing of this was perfect, and the storyline was engaging without being too outrageous. I loved the relationship and how everyone was so hellbent on matchmaking Giles and Diana.

A fun, wonderful read for Regency era fans!

I really, really enjoyed this book! It was captivating and it hooked me from the very first chapter! It was such a sweet and romantic story!
