Diana Merriwell enjoys writing scandalous articles for the newspaper under the veil of anonymity. Giles is her current target because the notoriously rogue bachelor is rumored to be getting married. But when Giles's father dies and his inheritance is called into question, he needs Diana's help. I loved the relationship with these characters and the story was very interesting, There were some great laugh out loud moments as well! I am a fan of this author and this series.

I loved the first book in this series , Never Fall for Your Fiancee and remembered not being sure if I Diana would be able to replace Minerva in my heart. Well, I think Never Rescue a Rogue might be my favorite one in the series! I loved all the witty banter and the hijinks that ensue as Diana and Giles encounter as they try to discover the truth. It was such a fun read -- I couldn't put the book down.

Another thing that I liked about Diana and Giles love story, is that Virginia found a way to make it unique to who they were as characters. And I love that Diana was thriving on her own working as a journalist. She was an independent heroine who didn't need to concern herself with finding love...until she fell for Giles.

The other great part of this book was the adventurous side that involved Diana's work as a reporter and how that ultimately became essential in helping Giles.

I love seeing the other characters from the first book return and I can wait to see what happens in book 3 for Venus -- I have my theories based on the seeds planted in this one :).

I adored this book and Virginia Heath has been added to my automatic buy list.

Review: This book truly is so good! I loved the banter. I loved the strong woman character. I loved the enemies to lovers story line. I may have liked this book better than the first with all the twists, mystery, and intrigue around every corner. Also the butler?!? He started to steal the show as one of my favorite side characters.

I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys Evie Dunmore or Martha Water’s Books.

Book two in the Merriwell Sister series did not disappoint. Diana and Giles act like two playground kids throwing barbs at each other when actually they have feelings for each other. There is a hidden attraction there. Diana absolutely does not want to be tied down. She is married to her job. Meanwhile Giles happily enjoys a bachelor lifestyle. When circumstances arise and Giles needs Diana’s help, all the extra time together makes them realize maybe they should look a bit more closely at each other.

This was a fun one and I absolutely loved the witty banter between the two of them!

Never Rescue a Rogue is the second book in The Merriwell Sisters series. While this series is about the sisters, I like that Never Rescue a Rogue is told mainly from Giles' point of view. The mystery of his past combined with his trying to fend off his feelings for Diana made for an entertaining read.

Loved this story and this sequel! The main characters are great, and bickering/banter hiding deeper feelings is one of my favorite things in a romance novel. Can't wait to see what is next for the Merriwell Sisters and their families! Highly recommend this series. (sex)

I loved this fun frenemies to lovers read! There was so much tension between Diana and Giles because of their supposed “hate” for one another. I loved their dialogue and the snarky barbs they constantly threw at one another. This made for such a delicious slow burn. I also enjoyed how they slowly unraveled each other and discovered that they really weren’t so different. Both had life altering secrets and I love how they confided in each other. This really brought them together and developed a beautiful trust between them. This is one of those delightful, satisfying stories where everything gets what they deserve.

CW: Skip chapter 30 to keep it closed door. However, I’m not sure about the level of descriptiveness as I didn’t read it.

I absolutely loved this! I’m a huge historical romance fan and this book was delightful. I thought it was an excellent follow up to the first book in the series and was absolutely a page turner. I gave this book a 4 star rating.

I wasn’t even aware how much I craved historical romance until I started reading this one. Never Rescue a Rogue reminded me how passionate and fun historical romances can be. For that, I am glad because now I crave even more.

This book was pure fun. It isn’t a comedy, don’t get me wrong. Still, Virginia Heath has the way of writing her words that everything, her descriptions, inner monologues and characters’ conversations are so entertaining.
I guess it isn’t a surprise that I flew through this book so fast.

I haven’t read the first book in the series (I would want to) but I didn’t feel like I was missing out. Never Rescue a Rogue can be read as a standalone.
However, all the characters Heath created were great to read about, so it would be a shame not to read their own books. Therefore, I will continue with the series.

My favourite character was Dalton who is the butler. It seems like every scene that had him in it made a book little bit better, brighter.
I also liked Vee who is Diana‘s (main character) younger sister. At times I hope the two of them would get together but I guess we won’t be seeing that movie since Vee is getting her own happily ever after in the next book, and Dalton isn’t the love interest.

As for our main characters in this book, Diana was the character one can look up to.
She loves her independence, her job and she is like a force that is not afraid of anything.
I have to admit I wasn’t head over hills for Giles at first, but I did enjoy seeing the chemistry between them and it was so obvious how Diana’s company does him good.

This is an example how enemies-to-lovers trope can be done, without unnecessarily drama, hate or going too far.
It was all tastsfully done.

Can we talk about this cover?! I love the normal clinch covers for historical romances but this cartoon one stole my heart, especially after reading this book!

Never Rescue a Rogue takes us back to the Merriwell family and Diana is the shining star in this book. I love how independent, headstrong and she's not a wilting flower. Toss in Giles and his load of secrets that only Diana can seem to unravel, and it creates another great love story by Virginia Heath.

I’m the beginning, I really enjoyed this book and was excited to read it! However, this book did not live up to my expectations. It was confusing and I felt as if I easily missed plot points because they were not addressed. I am very disappointed,

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and plan on re-reading it soon. The writing and the dialogue is brilliant! This is the second book in a series, but I had no trouble in following the plot. Diana, the heroine of this book, is the sister of the heroine from the first book. Her sister married Giles' best friend.

Giles Sinclair has a problem. His father dies unexpectedly which makes Giles the new Duke of Harpenden. Giles, however, thinks that he is not the legitimate heir and fears blackmail - which happens. Diana is a journalist and is very good at rooting out things that people would rather stay buried, Giles asks her to help him discover the secrets behind his parentage and hide them, for the sake of the dukedom and the many people who depend on it. His father's brother is next in line after him, and is a drunk and a spendthrift.

I enjoyed every page of this extremely well-written and entertaining book. I received an e-ARC of this book from the publisher St. Martin's Press via NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed it.

"Never Rescue a Rogue" is a heartwarming romance set in 1826 London, following the lives of journalist Diana Merriwell and the newly appointed Duke of Harpenden, Giles Sinclair, as they navigate societal expectations, scheming behavior, danger, and steamy romance while trying to keep their secrets and identities hidden. The prose is light and amusing, the characters are loyal, charming, and endearing, and the plot is an enchanting tale full of family, friendship, desire, illegitimacy, and tricky situations. The story is well-written and has an engaging mystery, strong characters, and a well-paced plot. Diana and Giles are an interesting pair, with Diana acting like a wallflower but ferreting out gossip for her newspaper column and Giles giving the persona of a carefree nobleman but being an astute businessman and very caring. Their journey to a happy ending is enjoyable, though an epilogue would have been nice to tie everything together.

I was really amused by Never Rescue a Rogue and how the relationship between these two main characters developed! Both Diana and Giles were extremely present in the plot and their banter was so entertaining to read; the part that their family members played in their relationship also created very fun situations and layers to the events in the novel. I loved the first book in this series, but this is now my favourite (at least until the next one comes out potentially). The only thing that I would have wanted was more development of Diana’s newspaper career and more moments with her and Giles’ butler, but I had a lot of fun reading it!

I really enjoyed this one more than the first book. I like the growing chemistry between Diana and Giles (Slowburn). However, I enjoyed Dalton and Vee the most in this. I liked how not only was this a historical romance but it also added a little mystery in it.

This is the second book in the series. But this could be read as a standalone.

Giles and Diana are the pairing we all deserve. Banter and shenanigans make up the majority of this book, and I ate it up. It was light on the spice, and heavy on mystery, but I think that worked for this particular pair. Vee also had a much-needed glow-up, and for that I am most grateful. Did I feel like the ending was a little rushed? Yes, I could’ve definitely used an epilogue to put everything to rights. I also struggled with some repetitive language. But if you enjoyed the first book in this series, this is a solid follow up.

I loved this book so much. It was definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. The humor, the banter, the chemistry was all so good.

I really enjoyed the first book in this story but this one was even better because Giles and Diana had already established chemistry.

I love this author’s writing style. The only thing I love more than a rom com is a historical rom com.

Vee is a much better character in this book than she was in the first book and I’m actually really excited for her book.

Like the first book in this series, there is no 3rd act break up. I hate 3rd act breakups, so this makes me very happy.

It is up to Giles and the brilliant Diana to uncover the true heir to the dukedom.

This book was a lot of fun, and is very reminiscent of Enola Holmes. Diana is a forger’s daughter and no stranger to the evil and ugliness in the world, and is suspicious of everything and everyone. She is sarcastic and stubborn and ever the hunter of truth. Giles and Diana both try to stay on the outskirts of polite society, and naturally gravitate towards each other. This book is full of mystery and romance, and a great light read.

I think after having really enjoyed book one, my expectations were mildly high. I would say that they're very similar in pacing and banter-y romance, but my love for the MC's was not the same. One of them needed to vocalize their feelings and stop forcing them to be out-of-sight. It was a lot of will-they-won't-they.
Giles and Diana hate to love each other. They both naturally have old wounds from their past and have hardened their hearts accordingly. His best friend has married her sister and the forced proximity balanced with the forbidden love was the best over-arching theme.
I will, of course, pick up book three. The youngest Merriwell is the most delightful and I'm hopeful that it will be the best in the series.

I didn't know how much I enjoyed historical romance until starting this series! Diana and Giles seem to hate each other and only tolerate each other because of their closest friends and family. Everyone thinks they belong together but they just don't think so.

Buuut they really do belong together! I love Diana playing hard to get when she wants Giles just as much as he wants her. It was nice to see Hugh, Minerva and Vee again and see where they are in their lives. I really like all of these characters and how funny and witty they all are. I can't wait to read Vee's story and see who she ends up with!
