I considered THE KING WILL KILL YOU a solid conclusion to Amarande's and Luca's story. Sarah Henning has outdone herself with the world-building and politics of the Sand and Sky. Much of the first 2 books focused on Torrence and Ardenia and the hurtles Amarande and Luca both faced in maintaining their hold on their crowns and in protecting their love. THE KING WILL KILL YOU felt much broader in that regard as we see more of the other kingdoms and rulers. We also get to see side characters shine as well, my favorite of these being Ferdinand, Osana and Geneva whose character arcs felt really fresh and compelling. Luca should win a prize for being an awesome and supportive book boyfriend who is a picture perfect example of how men can support the women in their lives. And all around, it was nice to see Amarande and Luca as one and how they held on to their love for each other above all else. And I just really resonated with the theme that has held true through the entire trilogy of how patriarchal systems impact things like power and politics, but also women themselves. There are some fun plot twists, lots of sword-fighting and moments that tug on the heart all throughout the novel and I felt pretty satisfied with where everything left off.

What a conclusion! I can´t believe we´ve reached the end of this, but thankfully this book didn´t disappoint. The book started off strong, with the reappearance of a certain character, one I did not miss, but one that´s essential to the plot. We follow our well-known and beloved characters through one last adventure, one last fight to end it all. I loved seeing Luca and Ama´s relationship grow even more throughout the book and how they managed to defeat our antagonist together. I also think that the ending was extremely fitting to the book and that it was a solid conclusion. My thanks to the publisher, the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this fantastic conclusion to an amazing series!

The King Will Kill You by Sarah Henning is the third and final book of the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky. Newly-crowned Queen Ama and Luca want peace among the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky. All five of the kingdoms must face the power-hungry king who has plans to rule the entire continent and kill both Ama and Luca.

The Kingdoms of Sand and Sky series comes to a fast-paced, twisty end with this final book. It is great to look back on both Ama and Luca and see how much they have changed since book one. I liked the character development. Like with the previous books, the world building is good.

I can't believe it's the end already - but The King Will Kill You is the final book in the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy. This one brings way more to the table thanks to the lack of middle book slump the previous book suffered from. The characters continue to grow and develop, even in this final installment. I'm really sad to see this series come to a close but definitely recommend it. The final book is less fairytale and more adventure/action, which is a nice change of pace from the first book.

I was drawn into this series based on the princess bride basis, I’m so glad I did, I love the film so much, but I loved the twists and turns, the feminism , just everything. I loved nearly all of the characters, they’re so three dimensional and i over the multi POV it added such more depth. I thoroughly recommend this whole series , its such brilliant fantasy, full of humour, action and chemistry, pick it up , what are you waiting for

Solid ending to a great series. The ending was really fitting and made sense. There obviously is a happily ever after with everyone involved. There are a few deaths, some really sad.

There was some action in this book, but no where near as much in the other books. This book had our beloved characters maneuvering their way through politics.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and the entire series. Definitely recommend!

I have loved you for more years than I can remember. I will love you for the rest of the ones I have left. To the stars.

The epic tale concludes with The King Will Kill You, as the newly-crowned Queen Amarande and Luca, her one true love, seek peace among the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky. Wartorn and regicidal, all five kingdoms must confront the power-mad king determined to seize control of the continent--and kill Amarande and Luca in the process.

this is the third book in this series, and i just love the princess bride vibes. the cover art is just stunning. Amarande is a strong female main character, she is not afraid to do or say what is on her mind. Princess is now a queen and has been reunited to her true love, however there is still vengeance among her enemies. Amarande & Luca must work together in order to protect their kingdom & the people. I received this arc from NG & this is my voluntary review. an overall good Young adult read.

"Ama, my heart is with you wherever I am. It was our promise to stay together. And I plan on that. I want that."

Ama and Luca. Stars! What a finale! The queen and her love. A case of surviving the battle to win the war. The Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy is a must a read for YA fantasy readers! Action, adventure, pirates, and romance! And Luca is EXTRA swoony in TKWKY! He would do anything for his love. *sighs dreamily*

Shout out to Ferdinand and Osana.

K. Read it!

I've always loved and adored the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky series! Sarah Henning never disappointed me before with the trilogy, and she didn't disskpiont me know!
This book is everything I missed, everything I wanted, everything Amarande and Luca. I loved this book and the characters! It was a fun and enjoyable read and a great conclusion to The king will kill you!

I was not expecting the ending. I felt this final book in the series was a bit too political. The Kings and counselors and the patriarchy made me so mad! I felt Amarande's frustration. I feel like Geneva should have gotten a better ending. Altogether, a good ending to a good series.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
The King Will Kill You is the final installment in the Kingdoms of Sand and Sky trilogy, and the series has finally picked up steam after teetering on the precipice of decent, but largely being just ok. The promise of the series has finally come to fruition, and while I typically wouldn’t have stuck around for so long, it helped that the setup was at least mildly interesting and fun.
The continued character growth is great. Amarande and Luca have grown so much, and their love has grown with them. They remain devoted to each other despite all they’ve been through, and it’s hard to believe they once had a bit of starry-eyed naïveté to them in the first book. And after them being apart for so much of the second book, seeing them working together to solve problems is such a nice contrast.
The stakes also continue to be raised, and there’s a real sense of the political maneuvering they have to do against their enemies in this one to fight for a better world in the face of vengeance.
While this series was uneven, it became worth it towards the end. Keeping in mind the more fairytale-esque start and how it amps up slowly, I would recommend it to readers who like both but are prepared for that more gradual tonal shift.

I’ve been a huge fan of book 1 & 2 and was super excited to see how the trilogy ends and I have to say I’m very disappointed.

I had previously thought very highly of Amarande and was impressed by her character especially considering her age but in this last book, she threw all of that out the window. Made so many mistakes my being brash, stubborn, and naive. Sendoa raised her to be better…

The start of the book is a doozie! Really didn’t see it coming and it definitely added to the conflict of the story.

I’m glad that in the end, Amarande was finally able embrace all that Sendoa taught her and think clearly as a leader and not a teenage girl with an entitlement complex.

The drastic, but not really, change that Luca goes through from book 1 to book 3 is impressive. His upbringing by Sendoa really prepared him for his new role.

The final resolution of the ongoing conflict of old guard vs. new guard was EPIC! Like I said, I’m glad Amarande, with Luca’s help, was able to figure out a way around the patriarchal BS from the other kingdoms. Maybe we’ll get a spin off of what that looks like, I’d definitely want to know more!

3.5 stars
Overall, I think this trilogy ended well, just for my own liking, this book had too much to do with politics. Almost the whole book was politic oriented and that is just not something that keeps my attention and keeps me interested.
Amanrande made very hasty decisions even when she knew the other person was antagonizing her and she should have just not let it bother her. Luca was still pretty bland. I think Osana and Ferdinand were my favorite characters. Osana was fiery and really had a good time going against her father's wishes when he tried to keep her with him.
I feel like not a ton happened, but I did enjoy the ending. From the ending of the second book, we learn that Ferdinand is alive, so it was actually fun to see everyone realize he kind of came back to life even though he was really a villain. While there are a lot of politics, it isn't hard to follow or hard to understand, there is just a lot of it. The ending really did have me on the edge of my seat and nervous for our heroes. The very ending though, I felt like it came quickly and was over with too soon. I wish the epilogue had been a little bit longer than the one page it is.
I would definitely recommend this series to those who love fighting kingdoms and political fantasy.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a nice, satisfying conclusion to a very cute little fantasy/adventure series. If you're a Princess Bride fan, you're definitely going to want to take a look at this series. One of my favorite parts of reading through this book was playing "Spot the Princess Bride Reference"! (Hint: There are a ton.)

This book does a good job of tying up all the loose ends from the series in a neat way, but it did feel a little rushed towards the end, at times. However, I did absolutely adore all of the excellent, strong female characters.

Beautiful, action-packed conclusion to this trilogy! The ending just brought me to tears in so many ways.

I was initially drawn to this series for the love story - the childhood friends to lovers and a Princess desperate to escape the patriarchal expectations of her society and marry who she chooses. And though the romance is the driving force of the entire trilogy, the addition of political conflict, treason, and betrayal created a fun fantastical world to venture through. The balance of all of these elements was strongest in the second book, which I found fantastically fun in every regard.

The King Will Kill You lost some of that sparkle for me. Ama and Luca's unwavering love was there, but there was no further development or many romance-centric scenes between the two of them. The political conflicts introduced were all wrapped up a bit too conveniently and anticlimactically for my tastes. Our lovable side characters who I fell in love with in the last book were given some time to shine (even though I miss Talliefer, who was a highlight of the first two books) but in exchange, the villains in this book seemed far less threatening and easy to overcome.

As a whole, the series is a fun adventure, but certain elements I loved before were missing from this last installment. Then again, as this is a fairytale, the "happily ever always" was to be expected, and I can't say it disappointed. If you're here for some swordfights, a few sweet romantic moments, and a patriarchy-fighting princess, this series delivers on that fantastically.

This was a great ending to the series that brought you into the world of Sand and Sky and immersed you in it. The world was one I would be completely ok to never leave. The characters have grown so much from the first book to the last.
