Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the early edition of A Summer Love Affair.

Holly Chamberlin writes the best mother/daughter stories. The emotions are beautifully rendered, and the love palpable.

Diving into the first chapter, readers are 'shore' to discover a beach read with substance. While the love affair might seem commonplace today, when Elizabeth and Hugh wed it was considered scandalous especially in their circles. Looking longingly at Chris for a last goodbye, Elizabeth pledged her love to Hugh while knowing that she carried a torch for his best friend.

A summer romance, reawakened their feelings and the affair resulted in Elizabeth's youngest child, Petra. Due to guilt and her husband's cancer, the lovers distanced themselves and life continued. Years after Hugh 's death, Petra finds a diary that threatens to spill Elizabeth's secrets.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early edition of #ASummerLoveAffair in exchange for an honest review. The novel can be read as a standalone or as part of the Summer Love series. The relationship between Elizabeth and her children I felt was a greater love affair than with Chris. While I knew she loved him, Elizabeth loved her children more.

When the waves threaten to topple her life, Elizabeth is feeling adrift. Is it time to reveal the truth or will her revelation leave Petra and her siblings casting Elizabeth as the villain wrecking their world? Will seeing Chris again provide a second chance for romance?

A Summer Love Affair by Holly Chamberlain is told a past present stye (which I love) about two summer love affairs, decades apart. I honestly knew going into the book that I would love the storyline- mother daughter drama, family secrets, heartbreak and betrayal. Catnip! Highly recommend this enthralling story by an extremely talented author!

Good book. Engaging story about a family learning to live with shocking news that one of the daughters Petra, was fathered by her dad's best friend. Holly Chamberlin did a great job telling the story and having us see what was happening through each of the characters eyes and how their own current lives played into how they were dealing with the news of their mothers affair. It is a great book for a book club. so many different angles to discuss.

This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley….I enjoy books by Holly Chamberlain. A mother with three daughters decides to reveal a secret…that one action changes the dynamics of the entire family forever. The girls are different in their attitudes and goals for life…one is totally unlikable, while the other two seem to take life in stride. Romance and marriage…old loves and new…careers going awry…secrets…an old diary found in the attic…a wedding dress in disrepair…family relationships…grandchildren…friendships…themes running throughout this novel…grab a cup of delicious tea…a scone…a comfy chair…enjoy an afternoon with this book, or maybe you will sit by the beach and lose yourself in this story.

This is absolutely lovely book about a summer romance. This book felt like going on vacation. I absolutely immersed myself in its words and couldn’t wait for the characters to find happiness. I absolutely recommend it.
