The third book in Daryl Wood Gerber's Fairy Garden Mystery series, A Hint of Mischief, does not disappoint. Courtney Kelly owner of Open Your Imagination, fairy garden store, agrees to plan an adult fairy birthday party for a group of sorority sisters who are coming to Carmel-by-the-sea to celebrate. Actress Farrah Lawson is one of the group and when she is killed Courtney and her personal fairy Fiona, are determined to clear their friend, Twyla who is the main suspect. Party planning, daily store events, following clues and a increased romance all highlight this well written book. Hopefully number 4 will be published soon.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I truly appreciate a good cozy mystery, this one didn’t disappoint.
This one is the third in the series. The imagery one conjures up whist reading is rare. A Hint of Mischief is a hit.

Courtney Kelly and her fairy friends are at it again, this time at an adult fairy birthday bash.

A Hint of Mischief is the 3rd book in Daryl Wood Gerber's Fairy Garden Mystery series. Courtney Kelly owns a fairy garden store where she and her fairy friends help people tap into their imagination and sense of wonder. When she is commissioned to create an adult version of her fairy birthday party for a group of sorority sisters, little does she know that it will lead to another murder.

As always, Daryl's books are a fun read. The fairies are whimsical, helping find clues that others would miss. The setting of Carmel-by-the-sea is a lovely backdrop that just adds to the fantasy of the book. Every courtyard and home description sounds like a delight for the gardener in all of us. Courtney and her group of friends continue to evolve in their relationships and interests, which keeps you coming back to this series.

Daryl keeps her plot pretty tight. The reader keeps switching likely suspects throughout the book. The fairies can be a bit of a deus ex machina at times, but, hey, they wouldn't be as interesting if they just flitted around playing with Courtney's cat.

All in all, it was a sweet cozy mystery that is perfect for a rainy day read at a garden window seat. Who knows, you may catch a fairy reading over your shoulder.

All opinions stated in this review are my own.

Courtney runs a fairy garden shop and, along with her fairy Fiona, solves murders in her spare time. When her shop is hired to throw a fairy party for reuniting sorority sisters, she finds her self in the center of brewing drama that leads to a mysterious murder. Along with murder, the town has two more unsolved mysteries: petty thievery of local businesses and the sudden appearance of fairy doors. This book in the series was Real Housewives meets Peter Pan, which is delightfully absorbing.

A beautiful location by the sea, a fairy garden/tea shop and a mystery that will keep you wishing you could see your own personal fairy guide - make for an entertaining book! Courtney Kelky, owner of Open Your Imagination, a fairy garden/tea shop has once again found herself in the middle of a mystery. An actress whose friends were throwing her a fairy-themed party, is found dead and suspicion is thrown on Twyla, the daughter of one of Courtney's friends. Courtney and her fairy guide, Fiona, have to find the killer before they strike again.

While I enjoy the mystery in the series, the charming location of Carmel by the Sea and the light paranormal aspect of the series appeals to me just as much. The fairy lore that the author has created is fun and interesting. Combined with a mystery with twists and turns, this book is another winner in the series. I admit, I'm going to use the tips in the book to up my own fairy garden game...maybe I'll see my own little friend! I'm impatiently waiting for the next adventure.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed in this are my own.

Courtney Kelly’s business is going well. She’s hosting a private party for a group of sorority sisters who are having a bit of a reunion, one of which is now a famous actress. This will really help draw more people in via social media. But when said actress is found dead, that’s not the kind of thing exposure Courtney was looking for her business to get.

With a friend’s daughter as a primary suspect in the actress’ demise, Courtney is on the case. Could it be one of the sorority sisters? There seems to be not so nice history between a few of them and the actress. Or maybe it’s tied into the thief who’s been stealing from local shops. Or perhaps whomever is putting up fairy doors around town has some ties to it? So many suspects and only so little time before they all leave town. Can Courtney and her fairy solve the case and bing a killer to justice? That’s exactly what they intend to do.

I’ve been reading this series from the beginning and can’t get enough of it. Between Carmel, the fairies and the personal story line that evolves over time, it makes each mystery even more magical. You’ll love this series no sure to check out the author’s other fabulous series as well. You’re going to love them all!

A fun and whimsical read - I picked it up because I had read one of DWG's non fantasy mysteries and enjoyed it so I thought I'd try out this one. While I found Courtney's investigative techniques, abrasive and unrealistic given her position - I still enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.

Adorable third in series. This is a series I have read from the beginning. The author has created a fun whimsical series set in picturesque Carmel CA.
Courtney Kelly owns a shop called Open Your Imagination which is both a fairy garden and tea shop. Courtney is able to see fairies and has a resident fairy . The fairy aspect of this series is fun and enjoyable. Courtney is preparing for a large fairy party when a murder occurs. Courtney has helped solve three murders and is joining in the investigation. Tensions rise amid her questions and soon Courtney is on the right track of a murderer.

During her inquires she is balancing heartbreak, her doubting Father and a detective that is not happy about her involvement. Her cliential are wealthy Carmel types who are demanding and ridiculously annoying to her . The descriptions of Carmel are enjoyable and the supporting charcters all add to the fun. A enjoyable afternoon escape to the land of Carmel wealth and fairies.

This is the latest cozy mystery in the fairy garden mystery series. Courtney has been hired to throw a fairy garden party for a socialite and her friends. However, days before the party, one of the friends is murdered. Courtney must find the culprit before she is next.

This was the first in this series I have read. I found this one to be ok. I've read others by this author I've enjoyed a lot, so maybe it was just starting later in the series. Part of the problem for me is the magical element. I feel like it is in the middle where it is not integral to the plot but there are enough references where it feels like it should be more important. Like I felt like the fairies were almost deux ex machina like just to get the suspects to talk. Maybe if the mysteries centered more around the fairies it would make more sense that they were there.

I must be in the minority, but struggled to get into this story. First I've read in the series and by this author, so may just be me. If you have enjoyed them in the past you will like this.

I have read other books by this author and I love her writing.

A Hint of Mischief is the third book and it is such a fun cozy mystery I went back and read the two previous installments.

In this book, we find Courtney preparing for a birthday party that is bringing together sorority sisters and even a famous actress. Of course, things go terribly wrong when a body is found and it's up to Courtney to figure out who is the killer before something happens.

LOVED IT.
