The Girl Who Survived is about Kara trying to figure out what really happened that dreadful day at their family's Oregon cabin. Now twenty years later, the past has come thundering back.
Her brother, Jonas, who was convicted of the murders has unexpectedly been released from prison. And then her older sister, Marlie, who hasn’t been seen or heard from since that deadly Christmas Eve is back.
As people close to her start to die horrible deaths, Kara, who is slowly and surely unraveling, believes she is the killer’s ultimate target.
This was a suspenseful edge-of-your-seat thriller and I loved it.

Kara McIntyre is the survivor of a gruesome family massacre on a Christmas Eve long ago. That night, Kara's older sister Marly had spirited her away to the attic and was never seen again. A neighborhood police officer died assisting Kara that night and her brother Jonah has been convicted and incarcerated for the murders. The trauma caused by these events have damage Kara deeply and she suffers from panic attacks as she tries to make her way in the world
Fast forward twenty years and her brother Jonah has served his sentence and has been released. Forced to deal with the press, Kara begins to suffer from worsening panic attacks. Suddenly she begins receiving cryptic messages from someone claiming to be her long lost sister. Who can she trust at this point? Can she even trust herself?
This is a twisty, quickly moving, jam-packed action book! If you love action, mystery and thrills, you can't go wrong with Lisa Jackson or her new book. #TheGirlWhoSurvived will be sure to shock you and keep you up late into the night! #KensingtonBooks #NetGalley

My heart is still pounding
What just happened ? I’m an adult, how did a book shake me to my core ? Well, when you are Lisa Jackson, you know how to skillfully craft a book that will consume and frighten even the coldest of folks.
I know I know. This is crazy . I can read Stephen King and not even bat an eye but I tell ya, this one is good, real good .
The secrets and twists that just kept on coming . Every time I thought I could catch my breath out popped another surprise .
It’s going to take me a bit to get over this one but while I do, I highly recommend you preorder .

Another good thriller from Lisa Jackson! Lots of twists and lots of tension that makes you want to keep reading!

Great read! Kept me guessing from start to finish. Lots of twists and turns and suspense. Every page turn bought something new—- sign of a great thriller for me.

Kara lost most of her family twenty years ago but she couldn't understand why her brother Jonas would want to kill everyone. Now that Jonas is being released after all this time she needs to find out what really happened. She has always hoped that her missing sister Marlie would be found but that has never happened and now someone is playing games with Kara.
Who can she trust? Can she trust someone from her past that has always wanted the truth Wesley Tate wants to find out the truth about that night. He lost his father that night and he knows that Kara can help find out the truth. He has no choice but to ask her for help but he knows that she isn't going to be that willing.
Jonas needs her help but he will have to convince her that he isn't guilty and that he just wants to find out the truth about that night.
Will the real killer be revealed before too many bodies pile up? Will everyone find what they have been looking for?
A great thrilling read. Didn't end the way that I was expecting. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

She was seven years old when her family was slaughtered. Kara is a grown woman now but still that scared little girl inside her keeps her from moving beyond what happened.
Fear curdled her blood, but she pressed forward. Cleared her throat. Ignored the feeling that something dark and evil lurked within these old walls.
Tate is a reporter who’s father dies saving Kara. He wants the story but he also wants to help her.
This author is the master of creepy killers and making you look over your shoulder to see who’s watching. I have never once guessed the killer while reading one of her books and that is saying something.
A page turning suspenseful adventure

I always anticipate a new release from Lisa Jackson. Never am I disappointed with anything that she has written. From her writing style to her stories...I just can't get enough.
Being known for something can either be really good or it can be something that will haunt you for the rest of you life. Kara unfortunately did not get the good side of that coin. Being known as the one who survived is a constant reminder of the past. A reminder of what was lost.
Once strange communications are received and those she loves start to die, Kara has to figure out who is targeting her and why. She also has to hope that she can survive one more time.
A thrilling book that had me racing to see what would happen next. I would highly recommend this book and this author.

I love Lisa Jackson and was super excited to see this standalone novel. The beginning was eye-popping and the premise was intriguing. I enjoy her character development and writing style. The pacing, however, fell flat in the middle, and the amount of plotlines/twists lost me. Not my favorite of hers, though I look forward to reading more of her work.

Lisa Jackson is a master of the thriller, and she proves it once again. The story spans a number of years as young girl grows up without a family, just a mystery surrounding the girl who survived. Gradually details are revealed as her missing sister and released-from-jail brother appear in the narrative.. more deaths occur and the tension grows.

When a book starts off with the slaughter of a family, it kind of hooks you.
We have Kara at the age of 7, who survived a killing spree 20 years ago and saw her whole family slaughtered. But her sister Marlie disappeared after making sure Kara was hidden away to survive, and while Kara is trying to cope with it, she is befriended by Wesley, a reporter who is looking for a story.
But when her brother Jonas, who was convicted of the murders, is released from prison….the pieces all start fitting together as you read on with a few surprises and a great ending, Thanks to #Netgalley I received an ARC of this book so put it on your TBR list and watch for it in June of 2022. #fourstars

Oh goodness, I really don’t know what to say. A pulse pounding, edge of your seat story. Twists and turns.
Kara was seven years old when he family was murdered in their cabin, on Christmas Eve. Her half sister hid her away in the attic and was never found. Twenty years later, Jonas her half brother, is released from jail over a technicality. Kara testified against Jonas but she never believed he murdered them all. She’s been receiving messages that only say “ she’s alive “, Kara thinks they are about her sister Marlie. Tate is a reporter and his father died while trying to save Kara that night. He wants an interview but Kara is not giving any. As people close to the case start dying, she finds Tate is the only one she will trust. Kara survived once, can she a second time.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *

As a domestic suspense and thriller specialist, I’ve been a long time fan of Lisa Jackson. “The Girl Who Survived” does not disappoint and deserves its spot among Jackson’s successes!

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Kensington Books and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
I look forward to reading a thriller keeping me engaged, check.
Lisa Jackson is a master of suspense. Thrills and mystery. The Girl Who Survived is deep, dark, journey revisiting the worst nightmare possible.

This latest book by Lisa Jackson reminds me just why I enjoyed reading her books! Twenty years ago, Kara survived a brutal attack that left most of her family dead, her sister missing, and her brother convicted of the killings. Now he's being released but is he guilty or is someone else to blame when more people end up dying? This book was fast paced with lots of potential suspects and several twists that I didn't expect. All in all, a very enjoyable story.

The Girl Who Survived by Lisa Jackson is a thriller that will have you reading non-stop! Kara McIntyre lived through a traumatic event on Christmas Eve when she was seven years old. During the night Marlie, her older sister, warns her to be quiet and follow her to the attic. Kara is afraid as she climbs the steep stairs but is not prepared for Marlie to lock her in the attic by herself. Marlie tells her to be quiet and stay there until she returns. Later Kara slips down the old stairs to the sound of Silent Night. She finds a horrible scene! Her mother and father have been murdered in their beds. She also sees one brother with his throat cut and the other brother has also been stabbed but is still alive. Before Kara can call 911 for help, she sees a huge man coming in wearing a mask. She runs out of the house and falls through the ice into the lake.
Now it is twenty-one years later, and Kara continues to deal with the effects of losing her family. All of them were murdered except for her sister Marlie who has never been found and Jonas, her brother. Jonas was tried and convicted for the murders and has spent twenty years in prison. He will be getting out soon and this has stirred up memories of the past for Kara. Soon there is another murder, and her brother is a suspect. Kara receives a mysterious message on her phone, "She's alive." Is the caller referring to her sister Marlie?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

The Girl Who Survived by L. Jackson, published by Kensington Publishing Corp., is a complex thriller of it's finest. With a layered storyline brings the author goosebumps, intrigue and an unputdownable read.
Kara and Wesley's story is raw and gritty and utterly unputdownable, 5 stars.

I've liked previous books by Jackson, but I didn't find this one all that interesting. Thanks for the opportunity.
