Sometimes the rich and famous are not always what we want them to be. Samira thinks that she's fallen into a blessed life. Famous husband, secluded mansion in beautiful Colorado and a new life that is so many steps ahead of where she was. Not everything is as it should be though.

When she discovers Melanie's old journals, Samira just can't help herself. She wants to know about her husband's previous marriage and if there are any clues into her tragic passing. Will learning about her husband's previous life be everything that she wants it to be or will it end with doubts, questions and suspicions that can only be answered if the questions are asked?

A delicious morsel that will be quickly devoured, when in all actuality it should be savored for the delicacy that it truly is.

There isn't anything glaringly wrong g with this book, but I just didn't connect with it on the level I expected to. For that reason, I do not feel comfortable reviewing it outside of Netgalley. Thank you, however, for the opportunity to read it.

I'm a big fan of domestic thrillers and after the first chapter, I thought I had found a winner. But the rest of the book didn't progress as I'd hoped. I didn't like any of the characters and found it a little too sexual for my liking. Because there were 2 timelines, I sometimes found myself confused on which character things happened to. Maybe because both were written in the first person. I really loved the short chapters and there were some twists that I didn't expect. A solid 3 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington Books for this eARC.

When I first came across Shanora Williams, it was because she had some amazing romance novels. But now I love her writing as a thriller author. She really has rocked this book. I couldn't put it down and it truly kept me on my toes. I honestly can't wait to see what she comes up with next. You don't want to miss out on this book!

This book kept me riveted! The build up was perfect. I kept trying to see where this was going therefore, reading it any chance I could get.

Second guesses, mystery, suspense and an unexpected ending! A must read!

Oh I get so sad when I don't like a book that much.
the book was ok. not bad, not amazing. just ok.
it was slow burning, slow paced, gripping at times but... i didn't care a bit about the characters. just not my cup of tea at all. so I prefer say nothing more.
thanks to Netgalley for providing my copy.

This book definitely had a lot of twist and turns throughout it - you had to go along for the ride. The writing wasn’t always my favorite style, but the book had a good story and unreliable narrators which made it all the more interesting.

This is a great book for fans of Verity and Alice Feeney’s books!

Thank you NetGalley for the early look!

Gripping, tense, and unexpected. I never what to expect. Shanora Williams does an excellent job creating complex and messy characters that we're simultaneously rooting for but also waiting on their downfall. I'm looking forward to her next work!

An interesting plot with a good twist. The character build up was really good. Roland was a strongly portrayed role with good suspense. This is my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a good read.

A totally unputdownable thriller, this book will have you gripped from the very first page until the jaw-dropping final twist. Flawlessly plotted, the story unfolds in layers, each one more shocking than the last. I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time.

This book intrigued me originally. Somewhere around the halfway make it fell short for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review

"He was willing to give me everything I ever wanted. All I had to do was become brave enough to take it."

It's always the husband, right? I guess you'll have to read The Wife Before if you want the answer to that question, but it's been the center of debate for most psychological thrillers since the Gone Girl phenomenon took shape. While this book is clearly a piece of salacious fiction, it does open up the mind to wondering how our decisions early on shape the outcome of our future. How many toxic people does it take to screw up a lifetime? This story touches on some of these thoughts and more as the reader flies through the pages.

Mira isn't going anywhere quickly in life, as she is being mostly supported by her brother and has a major aversion to keeping a job for longer than a week at a time. Once she finds out she won't be on the receiving end of her brother's handouts anymore, Samira takes a waitressing job for an event and meets professional golfer Roland Graham. The two have an instant connection and a whirlwind romance, where Mira promptly learns that Roland's first wife died under devastating and mysterious circumstances. He explains it all away, but was he somehow involved in his first wife Melanie's demise? Mira decides to do her own investigating after finding the wife before's journal entries, and what follows is a wild ride worthy of a Lifetime Channel Movie contract.

If you do not enjoy soapy, over the top psychological thrillers, this might be a hard pass, but I truly enjoyed getting lost in the pages of this story. I did see some of the twists coming, but there were a few that completely took me by surprise as well! It wouldn't be a Shanora Williams special if we didn't have a slew of complicated, unlikable characters, but she is one of the only authors I have experienced who can make you enraged with a character's choices while also feeling for them. Also, I really loved the grand finale. Muahahahaha. If you are looking for a slump buster that somehow manages to be the fastest paced character driven novel of suspense I have read to date, look no further.

Trigger Warnings (include but are not limited to): domestic abuse, substance abuse/overdose, sexual assault, rape, murder.

I have read several of Shanora Williams’ books and always greatly enjoy them. The Wife Before takes the reader on a harrowing ride full of edgy twists and red herrings. When we meet Samira Wilder, she comes off as flaky and a bit egocentric. She is young and has commitment issues; she is always between jobs, either starting one or ending one. At one of her temporary jobs, she encounters golf pro, wealthy Roland Graham. He is everything one could want in a man, handsome, kind and loving. After a whirlwind courtship, Samira and Roland wed and she moves with him to his isolated estate in Colorado. At first life is idyllic; however, when she locates and starts to read the former Mrs. Graham’s intimate journals, Samira comes to realize that she doesn’t know her new husband as well as she thought. Could his amiable exterior be hiding the heart of a monster? Ms. Williams keeps us guessing until the very end of the story AND then she gives a twist that turns the story on its head. I, for one, did not see that coming. Awesome story that kept me enthralled and entertained!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing to me read this ARC for my honest opinion!
