A sweet, clean historical romance. What a joy to read.

I love the innocence of A Christmas Tree for Trudel because we still get to enjoy a sweet romance with a couple getting to know each other without the physical side getting in the way. Gibson is an old-style gentleman whose mother taught him what is right and how to treat a lady. Trudel is learning a lot about the world outside of the bubble of the orphanage in which she was raised. Although a novella, I thoroughly enjoyed their relationship development and journey to love. And, I fully love the mail order bride romances!

When Trudel Andersen travelled to Pine Knot, CA as a mail order bride, her fiancée informally backed out. Left to her own devices, she asked Gibson Bainbridge for his assistance. He felt responsible for what happened so he offered marriage with the idea they could annul it after she was secure with a home and employment.

Though I liked both Trudel and Gibson, the storyline was just too short this time. I knew going in that A Christmas Tree for Trudel was a novella, but I thought the characters and plot could have been expressed more fully and in greater detail. Everything came together a bit too quickly.

Thank you to NetGalley, Linda Carroll-Bradd and Inked Figments for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
