Too Many Pigs and One Big Bad Wolf: A Counting Story; tells the story of a wolf who sharing a story to the three little pigs, but the pigs find it too boring. So he begins the story again...

This story is such a cute and fun read. Children aged five and under will love it! And I really appreciated the like to maths and concrete resources.

The story itself, is okay. My only issue is that the story is unbelievably repetitive. The wolf tells the story, the pigs find it boring, and the cycle repeats. However, although I didn't enjoy this. I know children will. Which is why, overall, I rated it 3 stars.

Thank you to netgallery for allowing me to read this story, in exchange for an honest review

This book is really fun. The storyteller starts by telling a very short version of The Three Little Pigs and, according to the reader, it isn't long enough. The reader wants a story with a beginning, middle and end but the storyteller keeps killing off the ever-increasing number of pigs far too quickly. The story incorporates names in alphabetical order, days in a leap year, a bit of multiplication and the colours of the rainbow. There is so much to see in this book and it will appeal to children across a wide range of ages because it has so much to offer.

This is a very cute book with fantastic illustrations. It's kind of in the vein of the "shut up and go to sleep" books and definitely something that I would've read to my kids a few years ago.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Too Many Pigs and One Big Bad Wolf.

This was a funny, laugh out read that is enjoyable for all ages.

It's kind of like a dark comedy, but silly, and encompasses elements of math and art into a very short story.

I love the illustrations, which was fun to look and admire.

My main caveats is that the story ended abruptly and the randomness of the numbers may be confusing to some young readers.

Too Many Pigs and One Big Bad Wolf is a delightful short children’s book that is the perfect read aloud for children. The story is told from the point of view of the wolf who of course wants to eat all of the little pigs. He is telling the story to the reader who is wanting a longer tale from the wolf. So the wolf makes up different small silly stories that are actually pretty funny. As the wolf gels his stories, there are some good skills that can be talked about during a read aloud. The wolf talks about colors of a rainbow, ordinal numbers, alphabetical order, months, addition, counting, multiplication, equal groups, sizes, and of course fairy tales.
I really enjoyed this book and will absolutely be adding it to my classroom library. Students should enjoy the humor and it would be wonderful to use when talking about perspective, point of view, fairy tales, etc.

This twisted look at a commonly known fairytale is perfect for older picture book readers learning the different parts of books and how a narrative is created. It can also be used for math extension activities, Language and Literature lessons as well as art. It is unique and funny.

A good addition to school libraries and public libraries focusing on STEAM collections and outreach to schools.

The pictures were absolutely adorable and creative. I could imagine kids wanting to have this read over and over because it is silly. It would be a good book to talk about elements of a story.

I did feel like it ended rather abruptly and didn't pull together the book as well as I had hoped but that isn't always as important as the entertainment value for kids. It was unique and I would buy it for my kids solely for that. Quite a few talking points include and some pop culture that is relevant as well.

I absolutely loved this book! As a child, I would have found the story super fun and engaging, loved the bright colors, and would have liked counting along with the story. As an adult, I love how the story worked on numbers and counting in a silly, fun way, while also being based around one of my favorite childhood fairytales, The Three Little Pigs. This is a story kids will enjoy listening to over and over with their parents or teachers!
