I enjoy reading a mystery/ cop series where the main character is a woman. Madison is trying to find out who the killers where at the train station and if they’re part of the Russian mafia.

A very entertaining and thrilling read with a great finish! It isn't the type of thriller I go for but you gotta mix things up once in a while, so to me, personally, it was a 3-star read. If you like crime thrillers, I absolutely recommend this. And for being part of a series, this read fine as a stand-alone.

This is the first book in the Madison Knight Series that I have read. Although it is #11 n the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

The story is exciting and there are many twists and turns. Madison comes across as a real person as she pursues truth and justice. I look forward to following Detective Madison Knight in future books

As we dive into book eleven of the Madison Knight series, I am impressed by how Carolyn Arnold offers a new surprise and twists with each book! Her knowledge of police procedure is top-notch and I can count on it being easy to understand from a civilian point of view.

Early on in the series, Madison would often rub me the wrong way. She was abrasive, willing to stomp all over the rules regardless of who ended up caught in the downfall, and at times, overly reckless. The job is her top priority that I had hopes would shift after the revelation of her pregnancy at the end of book ten.

Losing a child is difficult and we all deal with it in different ways. Madison throws herself into a case involving the murder of three women and the potential drug running going on at the train station. One of the women happens to be a potential match for a friend of hers who disappeared years ago. Fate drew her into the case and she is relentless in her pursuit for the truth.

I'm still getting vibes for the corruption that has plagued the police department in regards to the Russian mafia. Little trinkets of information are left throughout for that thrilling, psychological aspect that makes you wonder who Madison is ultimately going to be able to trust -- and who she cannot.

Girl on the Run by Carolyn Arnold is the eleventh book in the Madison Knight series. I started this series at book number seven and have yet to read the previous books. The fact I could follow the series at book seven shows how well each book works as a stand-alone.  The prologue set the tone for the story and had me looking forward to a suspenseful and thrilling tale. This be a treat for fans of police procedurals.

In Girl on the Run, Arnold delivered a story which held the me captive from the first page. My desire to learn how it would all unfold had me completely immersed in the story. The story had lots of stuff going on. A shooting in a coffee shop, with three women shot and one surviving. This incident opened the door to a 15-year-old missing persons case, a girl on the run, a drug trafficking ring and Madison’s biggest challenge to date, the Russian mafia.  Following Madison along on the investigation as she tries to determine the connection between these events had me on the edge of my seat.

Throughout the course of the story, several questions arose, which kept me guessing with the revelation of each clue. The story ended on an explosive note; however, it was not the ending I hoped for, which left me sad and a bit disappointed.

I liked Madison from the moment I was introduced to her in book 7, In the Line of Duty. However, this time around, her attitude irritated me She carries a massive chip on her shoulder, created by personal issues, which affects her attitude and no-one around her is immune from her acerbic tongue.  Despite this she maintained traits for which I admired her most, her tenacity, which served her well in solving cases, her independence, strength and intelligence.

The story was intense and quite entertaining, with its twists, turns, suspects, and many theories. Arnold is one of the many authors whose work I will never tire of reading. Her writing pulls you in and before you know it, the story is complete. Police procedural fans will want to put this on their reading list.

All she wanted was a cup of coffee, but what she got was the call to a fatal shooting. Detective Madison Knight was on her way to work when the call came in…two women killed and another injured. There was no obvious connection between the women, one of whom was expecting her first child. Why did the man open fire on them and what happened to the young woman with a backpack? Searching for the shooter as well as the young woman would test Madison and her partner, Detective Terry Grant’s investigative skills. When Madison believes that one of the victims could be someone she knew in college, who disappeared fifteen years ago, she treads carefully so as not to be taken off the case. She is positive that the Russians are using the area to transfer drugs, but will she be able to prove it? When she finally has a chance to save the young woman, will she be successful or will it almost cost her the life of the man she loves? A well thought out and plotted complex police procedural. Complex and complicated thriller with many strands to untangle. Good characters and a plot with lots of twists and many secrets.

Great story which kept me turning the pages. Really thrilling and full of great characters and plot. Would recommend to others.

I don't normally enjoy books concerning organised crime but this is one of the better ones. It's the character of Madison Knight that really lifts the story. She is a feisty, kick ass lady who can and does take on anyone who stands in her way. I didn't realise before I started this book that it is the latest in quite a long series and unfortunately there are a few spoilers in here concerning earlier stories. That being said I still think I will go back to the beginning of Madison's story at some stage.

This was a very interesting read. Madison is a real go getter as a detective and doesn't let anyone stop her when she has a gut feeling about something. A sad, yet good ending. Great Characters. Would recommend.

This is the first book by Carolyn Arnold I have read and it was a good one!

I'm someone who likes to read a series from the beginning, but that wasn't an option with it being the eleventh book. It has made me want to find copies of the earlier books and read them all!

The writing was great and the story kept me interested. The prologue was the highlight of the book for sure.

I love a Prologue. I am like a hungry fish, swimming around, looking for a juicy worm and with a good Prologue, I eagerly bite and get hooked. Girl on the Run by Carolyn Arnold definitely set the hook.

She runs, but there is no escape.

“You’ll be wishing for a bullet by the time she’s done with you.”

I am curious to know why.

Madison was in line for a coffee, when she heard of a shooting at the Liberty Train Station, suspected causalities. Madison is on the case seeing she works for Major Crimes. Two dead, one in the hospital.

Madison is tenaciious, a Bulldog. She felt putting bad guys behind bars was her legacy and made personal sacrifices to achieve it. She has her chocolate lab, Hershey and her fiancee, Troy Matthews, who works for the Stiles Police Department too, to keep her grounded.

Who is the girl with the orange backpack that seemed to Madison to be the trigger, and what does she have to do with the shooting?

Madison had been through hell due to corrupt cops, so when she saw the shooter, who had identified himself as a cop, she stood at attention. Could a corrupt cop and the Russian Mafia be behind the shooting? She had dealt with them on more than one occasion. They were prolific in Stiles.

The investigation deepens, spreading out in different directions. Carolyn Arnold is an expert at bringing all the pieces together.

Two dead, one wounded, a girl with an orange backpack, a victim that Madison recognizes from her past, the Russian Mafia, drug trafficking, infidelity, betrayal…Step by step, I follow Madison’s footsteps to the conclusion.

Most of the book, I was plodding along, accumulating clues with Madison, thinking three stars. I was complacent, knowing this is a police procedural so it may lack the in your face thrills and chills I love so much, then…KAPOW…I’m awake now. It’s those punches, book surprises, that add the extra star.

What should be a common Monday morning work commute turns fatal as two women are murdered at a local train station. Detective Madison Knight is assigned to this deadly encounter. Detective Madison is known for not giving up. She believes that these murders were related the mob, even when discouraged from engaging in that vein of investigation. There were some relevant details that seemed to pop up from previous novels, as this is part of a series. I enjoyed the writing, the mystery, and the tenaciousness of Detective Madison. It was a quick read and I will be reading the other books in this series as a result of reading this one. Omg wow this book is amazing it's full of twists and turns it will keep you up all night I really enjoyed this book

Girl on the Run opens with Detective Madison Knight standing in a long line waiting to order her morning coffee which she needs sooo badly. But just as she is about to step up to the counter gunshots ring out and Madison is off and running down the street toward the gunshots, no coffee this morning.

Two women have been shot, one is dead and the other one is in critical condition. One woman is on the run. Who shot these women and why? Why did one woman run away? Is she scared? Did she have anything to do with the shooting? Are the women connected in some way? If so how? Did someone shoot the women on purpose? Or was it a random shooting? Were the women just in the wrong place at the wrong time kind of thing?

Girl on the Run is the second book in the Detective Madison Knight series that I have read but I definitely have all intentions of reading more. I have read several of Carolyn Arnold’s novels and will definitely read more. I love reading Carolyn’s books because of all the mystery and suspense that keeps you glued to the pages from the first moment that first word is read.

I love the investigations and the murder scenes. I like that you are pulled into each story from the first page. I like that there is so much mystery that you can’t lay it down once you open it. I like trying to figure out whodunit.

I like that you get the murder or the crime in the beginning but not whodunit or why. I love trying to figure out who the killer is. I like all the twists that are thrown at you from all directions. You think you are on the right track to figuring out who the killer is and then bam another twist slams you in the face and you are off again looking for who did it.

I requested this on Net galley coz I wanted to read more crime thrillers/thrillers with cops or FBI or smthg and this was not as good as the other books I have read. But I enjoyed it.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it coz soo many things were going on at once.

The book started off really strong, the prologue was like a gut punch so I had very high hopes going into it. But it didn't match my expectations.

I didn't feel attached to any of the characters, but I feel like if I had read the other books in the series I would have so might read n see my thoughts on them:)

The reason I'm giving this a 3.25 is even though it didn't match my expectations I did enjoy reading this and it was thrilling, especially that last chapter!!

Also in the authors note she explained how this was loosely based on an encounter she had had and I loved how she took the what ifs in that situation and had written this. Excited to read more by her:)

I have read a lot of Carolyn Arnold's books but this was my first Madison Knight novel-- I really enjoyed it!

The case in this book was a really interesting one, and the personal issue Madison Knight deals with during this book is a very common issue but isn't often discussed and I liked the writer's way of dealing with it. It's exactly what I've come to expect from Carolyn Arnold and I've already ordered the first book in the series so I can go back and start there :)
