First, thankyou NetGalley for this arc!

I actually DNF'ed this first at 10%, but I gave it a second chance and I would have just stick to the DNF the first time.
It was hard to read, the writing was not enjoyable for me.

There are two stories: one about a young English woman who, while searching for her husband who disappeared in Switzerland under mysterious circumstances, ends up falling in love with another woman, and another about a young English journalist who goes to Switzerland to cover the referendum that in that country very belatedly gave the vote to women, who falls victim to a strange psychological experience that leads to his death. Both stories are interesting, especially the one of the young journalist, who suddenly finds himself catapulted into the Nazi past and falls in love with a mysterious and elusive girl to save whom he commits a few crimes, the only problem was trying to make them into a single novel. Put together, the two stories fail to hold up, and every time the new chapter offers a changed perspective, especially if it is that of the young Englishwoman, one finds oneself as a reader rather irritated.
Added to this is a somewhat laboured narrative, peppered with unnecessary events, perhaps intended to add mystery to the story.
In some places, the writing is strange, as if the text were the result of a translation from a language other than English.
I would advise the author to revise the layout of the novel, focusing on the story of the young man who ends up catapulted into the past, perhaps using the mysterious young woman he falls in love with as the narrator.

This book was very confusing for me. The story takes place at 2 different timelines. I found it dragging where I got lost to what is happening in between the two timelines. And the ending was more like unanswered questions.

Although hard for me to get my head around in parts, I really enjoyed this book. It took me some time to figure out what was actually going on, but it was worth pushing through! Strangely enough, it helped because it made me more intrigued to dig into who Frank really was and how everything was connected.

It was an engaging mystery, and I was desperate to keep turning the pages to find out what happened. I’d be interested to read more from this author in the future!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author, for a chance to read and review this book!
