A good read. I have read a few of her books before. I enjoyed this one but not as much as the others. I had predicted the ending from early in but it was a good storyline with the interesting. relationship between Rachel and Heidi.

Years ago, Rachel's world shattered. Her husband left her for his mistress and not long after he vanished. Now seven years later, Rachel is ready to move on by having her husband declared dead... but suddenly she receives a note from him saying he wants to come back to her. The husband she thought she lost is alive... or is this come kind of cruel hoax?

I really enjoyed this thriller. This is a fast-paced book that you can read in one sitting with many twists and turns. The story is told from multiple perspectives, which adds to the suspense and keeps us guessing. Highly recommended!

This was the first book I've read from this author and, after hearing really positive reviews about her other novels, I was excited to read this.

I was expecting a thrilling plot filled with twists and turns but the ending fell slightly flat for me and there were some parts of the novel that dragged a little.

Still worth a read!

So that was it? So unsatisfying! Where is the shocking twist? I was scammed by the plot.

Thanks to Netgalley! Hoping for a better read next time!

Firstly I have to say I am a huge Lesley Sanderson fan and every book I have read bu this author has had the 5* review it so richly deserved so this review pains me because sadly I just didn't really like it 😥

Just one month before Rachel can declare her missing husband legally dead she receives a handwritten note saying "I want to come home"

Is the note real? is her husband still alive?

Whilst as expected the characters are extremely well written and the premise totally compelling unfortunately I just didn't have the suspense that I've come to love and expect from this author.

It was a fast paced read which is a huge positive but it just sadly lacked the thrills i was so hoping for but it definitely won't put me off reading what the author has in store for us all next.

With thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

3 for neutral, was unable to access my netgalley account for months, until today. Because of this, I was unable to see which books I needed to read. I apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully will not have any more issues in future.

This was a fast-paced read. Though, I thought that this was more of a  domestic thriller than a psychological one. 7 years with a missing husband. Will she ever find him, will she get the answers to the questions that she have? This was a bit predictable, but it was still a good read.

This was a solid  4 ⭐️

This was a quick read . There were lots of twists and turns. Not too many characters. Fast paced and told mainly by Rachel. The ending was unpredictable so I really enjoyed that. It has a timeline of present day and the past 7 years ago.

Lesley Sanderson’s The Widow's Husband is the story of Rachel, a woman whose husband left her for a younger woman and then went missing. As Rachel tries to rebuild the lives of her family, unusual things start to happen. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this suspenseful book full of secrets that will keep you guessing until the end.

It is now seven years since Rachel’s husband Tom disappeared. At the time they were separated as he had left her and their two children to live with a younger woman. Katie has struggled coming to terms with being a single mother and still secretly longs for Tom to be alive and come back to them. However the time has passed for Tom to be legally declared dead. One month before this date Rachel receives a mysterious note through the letterbox in Tom’s handwriting making her begin to think that he is still alive with all his secrets. She was just starting to build a new relationship with Freddie, her husband’s business partner, so is unsure how she feels about this. Rachel becomes suspicious of everyone including Rachel, the other woman who is trying to befriend the children. The story is told in the present and the past including many secrets with plenty of twists and turns. An enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Seven years ago Rachel's estranged husband Tom vanished. She had hoped to rekindle their marriage but instead he disappeared without a trace. Now as she prepares to have him officialy declared dead and finally move on with her life, a note in Tom's handwriting is delivered. He wants to come back...
The Widow's Husband is a family drama and psychological thriller set in the UK.
Rachel is ready to move forward with her life after it has been on hold for 7 years. It has been traumatic for her as she had to cope with her husband leaving her for another woman, then wanting to come home and then his disappearance. She has had legal battles with his lover and been in financial difficulties. But now she is thinking of the future and even a new romance. The arrival of Tom's note stirs up all her emotions and makes her question her past, present and future.
The book is written from various points of view in the past and present. My sympathy was firmly allied with Rachel but the perspectives from Tom and Heidi present a different version of events. This makes the plot more detailed and emotional as we see the personal effects of events on the characters.
I loved the balance of the family drama as well as the psychological thriller elements as Rachel struggles to deal with her personal life while solving the mystery of her absent husband. Her distrust of potential friends or lovers makes us worry about their genuine intentions as well. The mystery was sustained well, with twists coming right up to the end.
The Widow's Husband was throughly entertaining.
