I really enjoyed this it had enough twists and turns to keep me interested and I am so glad that I read it. This author always delivers and whenever I see a book by her I just have to drop everything and read it.

I am not going to say more due to the risk of spoilers.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and opinion. Well this one gripped me right from page one and kept me up way too late in the night as I kept telling myself I would read "just one more page'....until I finished it. This will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This author is amazing and you will not be disappointed by picking this up however do it early in the day!

A husband who disappears without a trace. A worried wife. Children who have to cope without him with a teenaged daughter staring to act out. She knows he's dead: it's been almost seven years. To make matters worse, the husband has been having an affair. After receiving questioning letters, she wonders if they are from him.

I found it very intriguing. A wild ride of a psychological thriller. This book moves very quickly. There a two people that are closely involved that she suspects of sending the letters. I experienced the same trepidation as this wife. I was entirely captivated from the first page through the last. The book was both engaging and entertaining. I hope to read more from this author.

Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a honest review.

A quick read that will keep you guessing just whose voice to trust. Told in multiple points of view and timelines this story chronicles a family drama with a twist. With the main character I liked her even when I wanted to shake her. For a couple other characters I can say this author does great creating characters you will love to hate.

Rachel is getting ready to declare her husband legally dead seven years after he disappeared without a trace (even though she suspects he is not dead but chose to walk away from his life), when she receives a letter from him saying he wants to come back to her. I kind of suspected I wasn't going to like this, so it's my own fault for continuing to read books that I know are going to be frustrating just because they sound intriguing. I didn't like the characters. I didn't really guess at what happened, but I also didn't really care that much. 2 stars, but that may be more me than the book itself. I have to stop reading this kind of book.

Almost seven years ago Rachel’s husband disappeared without a trace. She is prepared to declare him legally dead when she receives a note from him. I liked the premise, but the execution was poor. The characters were one dimensional and the writing felt stilted and amateurish. Thanks to NetGalley and @Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Read this if you like: Fast pace, timeline that shows past and present, multiple POV

For almost seven years Rachel believed her husband was dead until the note arrived..

Rachel and Tom were married with 2 kids. They were childhood sweethearts. Tom is in the public eye in their small town. So when he left his wife for another woman then, just disappeared months later without the woman it's all over the news. He left without a word, without a note, without a single sign of where he might be. Now, nearly seven years have gone by and Rachel has come to terms with life as a single mom. With just one month until Tom is to be declared legally dead Rachel receives a note in handwriting she recognizes saying he's coming back. The husband she’d lost is alive and so are all his secrets.

This book grabbed a hold of me in the first chapter and didn't let me go. It had a great pace. I found it to be a little predictable but I still loved it. I will be reading more of Lesley's books. Definitely recommend! This one comes out April 21st. Go pre-order now!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author Lesley Sanderson, and the publisher Bookouture for my gifted copy.

Phew! Finished this one in record time as I could not wait to find out what happened next! A true roller-coaster of a ride through the disappearance of a husband and father who also had a mistress and a lovely home. All figure into the central plot and unfolds in racing fashion!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Just as she seems to be moving on and getting close to closure following her husbands disappearance a note appears throwing all in disarray. Rachel know needs to find out if he is still alive and does she want him back? A really good story with doubts and suspicion of who is really helping. A gratifying ending.

A fast paced thriller about a women who is raising her two small children after her estranged husband comes up missing. Previously, he had moved out of their home and into a flat with his twenty-something girlfriend Heidi. A case of a Midlife crisis! Rachel’s husband Tom has been missing for almost 7 years. As she is on the verge of claiming him legally dead, his girlfriend Heidi shows up her life. Also Tom’s business partner is showing interest in Rachel. How can she move forward with so many questions and her life is a mess?
Their daughter is almost a teen and has been acting out and is wanting answers about her dad, as she hardly remembers him since she was so young when he came up missing. Their son is happy go lucky and seems to have adjusted fine.
The daughter is experiences problems with math, and Heidi has become a fixture in Tom’s family and helps out the daughter. As notes begin to appear on their doorstep, Rachel begins to question if Tom is really dead? Is he in hiding? Has he created a whole new life? Why is Heidi all the sudden in their life? So many twisty things begin to happen. Add in a renovation on their home with contractors and some vandalism inside the home, it becomes clear there is more to Tom’s disappearance. This was my first book by this author, but I cannot wait to read more by here.
Thank you @Netgalley and Lesley Sanderson for this advanced ebook. This book is available April 21, 2022.

You suddenly get a note through the door which you think might be from your husband who vanished nearly seven years ago - as soon as I started reading I knew that there would be twists a turns throughout! At some point, I suspected nearly every character, which kept me guessing and turning the pages with speed. I really enjoyed trying to put the jigsaw pieces together but didn't manage this until the very end, when everything was revealed. Highly recommended.

When I read the description of The Widow’s Husband, by Lesley Sanderson, I knew I was going to enjoy this book. I love plot lines that involve complex family drama & mystery and this book is exactly that! My only criticism is that the characters are hard to like.

It has been almost seven years since Rachel's husband went missing. She is finally getting on with her life. She is remodeling the home they lived in and soon she will be able to declare him dead and get on with her life. Until a note with Tom's distinctive handwriting is found at her front door asking to come back to her. The thing is though, they weren't together; Tom had left Rachel for another woman.

This was a hard to put down novel. that keep you guessing until about 2/3 the way through. Then once you know who did it, you have to wonder why.

This is definitely one of those books. I’ll just read one more chapter before I make dinner. Just one more chapter and I’ll turn the light off. From the first page to the last page I was totally gripped. The story is told both in the past and the present. By Tom and why he had to do what he did and by Rachel, the wronged wife, abandoned twice, once by Tom’s love affair and then by his disappearance, doing her best to be there for her children.

When Rachel receives a note, seven years after Tom’s disappearance, in what appears to be his hand writing she doesn’t know what to believe or who to trust and neither do we. Could Tom still be alive and if he is would she even want him back? Can she believe Freddie, Tom’s business partner, with whom she is beginning to fall in love or is he just after her share of Tom’s business? Is she wrong to contact Heidi, the other woman? Is Heidi just as confused as she is or does she have her own agenda? Who has access and is responsible for terrifying Rachel in her own home? The questions continue and the suspicion and fear mounts until a thrilling climax where all is revealed but be prepared for some shocks along the way.

A good read for me although it did take me a while to get into the story line and for me personally it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. Overall it was a well written interesting book with a good ending which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC read which I can recommend.

I enjoyed The Widow’s Husband by Lesley Sanderson. It is a solid psych thriller.
It is also a cautionary tale about relationships and how gut instinct may be the best indicator of who to trust.
There is not a lot to unpack from this book. It is not overly complicated or twisty in a way that you have to pay attention to every little detail.
However, if you feel like you should, you might be able to figure out a few of the surprises before they are revealed. Otherwise, it is pretty straightforward.
The blurb clearly spells out the plot. I found Rachel to be a decent heroine. She seemed real and her reactions and thoughts were genuine.
I also found Heidi to be a bit more of an enigma, and I think that was on purpose. I have an inherent mistrust for people like her, but it was difficult to tell if she was “typical” or if there was a surprise to be found in her character.
I’m not telling you which one of those is right.
I will say that this book is heavy on the “psych” aspect of the psych thriller. Not necessarily because it plays with the reader’s mind, but because there is a lot of introspection.
The author delves heavily into character motivation, and there are log passages of inner monologues. They are good for the development, but they also do slow down the action.
The one thing I am a bit puzzled about is the title. It seems to give away the plot, and it is an odd choice given the way the story is crafted.
But regardless, it is still a good psych thriller.

A husband has an affair, leaves his wife and kids and then just as it seems he will be back ‘tail between his legs’ he vanishes, into thin air and almost 7 years later Rachel can officially think about legally declaring him dead…unless he re-appears…and then the notes through the letterbox start….
If, like me, you love psychological thrillers then you will enjoy this, all the elements needed are there, twists, turns and bumps a daisies galore plus enough red herrings to fill a reservoir ( if herrings live in reservoirs ) but you get the picture, its pretty faultless in its story telling, writing and characters ( love some, loathe others )…..there are a few ‘well I wouldn’t have done that’ and ‘are you completely mad Rachel’ moments but that aside the book is good enough to flit those away and still be very enjoyable
I don’t know what else to say other than the above and it is a good solid enjoyable tense read, one of those you think you know the outcome but don’t really and comes out of the blue
A good read

This one really didn't do much for me - I can't pinpoint a specific fault of the book so I'm willing to admit this one just wasn't my thing and give it 3 stars by default. I didn't feel any sort of connection with or sympathy for the characters (except maybe Lara). The premise could have meant for an interesting story, but it never truly captured my interest. It did keep me wondering throughout how it was going to end, so it had that going for it, but when everything was revealed and wrapped up, I found that I simply didn't care. It wasn't glaringly bad, or incredibly good. It was just okay.

Take one wife, 2 children, missing husband, toss in the young mistress he left his wife for and it is a domestic thriller ready to capture your interest. Why? Suddenly 1 month before 7 years is up and Rachel the wife can declare him dead she gets a letter - he wants to come home. Now the story develops with flashbacks of the past from Rachel and Heidi, the mistress, along with the present and the actions of the characters will drive you crazy. Heidi comes back into their lives and begins to become close to the kids while Rachel looks to her for what she knows and more. Warning! Warning! The subject is intriguing the characters OK, though at times I just did not like the characters. Maybe its the topic that gets me everytime and the number of such novels or even lives in the news the story did not grab me they way I thought it would. Yet I had to finish because I had to see if I had in mind the right conclusion, surprising, but was glad to finish the book.
