Casey McQuiston's One Last Stop was one of my favorite books of 2021, and this Book Club Kit adds extra insight that only elevates the novel. The author note and author interview are both greatly illuminating. The discussion questions are sure to get you - and everyone in your book club - thinking deeply about various aspects of One Last Stop. This kit also includes a list of content warnings and printable bookmarks. For anyone salivating over the sandwiches described in the novel, a recipe for Jane's signature sandwich is included; there's also a playlist of the various songs mentioned throughout the book - most of them from Jane's time! Both can make a book club that much more interactive and fun. Finally, there are reading recommendations for books similar to One Last Stop, both fiction and nonfiction. This is a great kit, whether or not you're part of a book club.

This kit is awesome! It has been so helpful for our book club. We love to read and we love to talk, but sometimes it’s hard for someone to talk about what they read. The questions give great starting points that usually lead to more discussion. It’s also nice to get special information about the book from the author. It makes everything feel a little bit more special. I will say, hands down, my favorite part is the food and drink recipes. Such a great addition that everyone loves! This is great for existing book clubs, but also a great starting point to start something new! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

Book Club Kit: One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston is a wonderful book club guide by We Are Bookish and NetGalley. The PDF version is 16 pages.

This guide got major points from me when after a letter from the author, the next page included content warnings in the book. It is so very important to list stuff like this at the beginning of a review, to ensure that the book is the right thing for a reader to peruse. The guide also includes an interview with the author, discussion questions for the book, suggestions on what to read next, and various fun things like bookmarks, recipes, and playlists.

The author herself provides some questions she'd like book clubs to discuss, which I really appreciated. Additionally, there are ten further discussion questions provided by We Are Bookish.

Special thanks to We Are Bookish, St. Martin's Griffin, and NetGalley for providing an PDF of this book club guide for me to review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

This made me very excited to purchase this book. I think that creating book club kits is such a brilliant idea because many people picked up reading during the pandemic while quarantining alone at home. These will allow us to get more involved with the book community and enhance our experience with the story.

Excellent kit that worked very well for me and my long-distance book club! It also provided a good reason to re-read an excellent book.

I honestly enjoyed this!

I wasn't expecting much from a book club kit since:
a) I wasn't really doing this for a club I'm hosting or one that I'm a part of—but the extras.
b) It was my first time reading a book club kit and I didn't know what to expect.

I really loved the author interview and all the extras included with the kit. I thought that it would be very one-sided but boy, I was wrong—the recipes, playlist and printable bookmarks were all super cool too!

The only let-down for me was the book recommendations, which I think weren't giving off many ONE LAST STOP vibes, but that could be just me.

Overall, the book club was great and I'd recommend it to fans of Casey McQuiston!

Okay I'm loving all these book club kits from NetGalley to help with book discussions! They're also great for helping prompt Bookstagram & GoodReads posts.

Maybe it’s because I fall in fleeting commuting love with approximately 7 people every time I’m on the MTA but oh my goodness I don’t even have the proper words (just tears of all varieties) for how this book made me feel. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I really dug the paranormal aspect of this book as well as the found family theme. I highlighted my kindle like a maniac while reading this! Casey McQuinston did it again and has officially earned herself a spot on my auto-read authors list. Maybe it’s because I’m in my first year of living in NYC as an adult trying to find her space in this messy, wild place but this book was magic to me.

Really enjoyed this, including reading the interview questions with Casey. Was very useful and insightful. Will enjoy using the questions with my book club. Also love the book marks that we can print. Thanks netgalley.

I have read many book kits, and used plenty of kits to use the questions for discussions and activities in my classroom. But when I saw a book club kit for One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, I just knew I could not pass it up. While this book kit contains all the usual and necessary materials such as author interviews and discussion questions, what makes this kit unique is the added materials that makes this ten times better. This kit contains a playlist inspired by the novel (which I highly recommend you listen since the music is chosen from the time periods of the novel), a recipe for a delicious breakfast sandwich, and an activity for bookmarks. All in all, this will definitely be used during our book club.

I loved all of the included discussion questions. They were thought provoking and would lead to a great discussion, I think. The authors note did a great job of advertising what the book was about and reading it really got me excited to start this book. I enjoyed how the recommendations of what to read next included both fiction and nonfiction books. I don’t know too much about LGBTQ+ history so I really appreciated the nonfiction recs which we don’t see too often. The included content could definitely lead to further book club discussions. .

I read this book recently and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to explore some additional content. This book club kit includes a letter from the author and an author interview that provide interesting context to the story. I really loved the inclusivity of this book, and how these diverse characters don't just exist in some perfectly integrated world but they feel like real people who are facing real struggles. In this book, the imagined struggles the characters face are where it delves into the magical and fantastical. Learning more about McQuiston's thought process from the included interview gave me a renewed sense of appreciation for the book and characters. The discussion questions highlight the important themes and would be useful in guiding book club conversations after reading the novel. I also appreciated the inclusion of fun details pulled from the book like the playlist and the recipe for the Su special! Overall, this is a fun and informative addition to the book.

I think this actually served as a better ad for the book than for a book club guide. The author interview was excellent, and I liked the discussion questions but I would have liked to have had more. The recipe was cute (but so simple. Is it really the best sammy ever?) and the music made me think about how to use music to set the mood at a book club. Fun!

Having read One Last Stop and planning on reviewing it and Casey McQuiston's other two books on my podcast "Could Be Gayer" soon I found this a fun helpful guide for discussion on this book. I particularly appreciated the further reading recommendations both for other queer rom-coms but also nonfiction titles on queer history.

This is a really awesome idea and I love what's included in this kit! I loved One Last Stop so it was super interesting to read the interview with Casey and to understand more about her thought process and what went into writing the book. It was cool that she included book club questions of her own, on top of the list of discussion questions. I'm always interested in new book so I like the page of recommendations of similar romance novels, as well as the page of further reading into queer history which was the backbone of Jane's story in One Last Stop. I'm also a foodie so loved that they included the recipe for the Su Special - definitely will be trying it out!
I hope to see more kits like these!

3.5*

This is a book club kit for One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston that contains an author letter, interview, book recommendations, a playlist, a recipe for the Su Special, discussion questions, and printable bookmarks.

This kit was insightful, and I especially liked the author letter and interview as those gave new perspectives to the book and the author's purpose! I looooved that the recipe was included because I was SO CURIOUS while reading and that would be such a cute book club snack to make/share at a meeting. The playlist was a nice addition as well.

I found about half the discussion questions interesting. I liked the opinion based and open-ended ones, such as "did you learn anything about yourself" rather than "why do you think this character did that." The fiction book recs... I have read all three and only thought one was similar. I wish the blurbs had all connected to OLS elements rather than just a few. The bookmarks were underwhelming and probably unnecessary for most readers.

Overall, a good addition to a book club meeting :)

(thank you netgalley & we are bookish for a review copy!)

I love this book club kit for it's author interview. This book can easily be passed aside as a romance but Casey's interview shows how much work went into this book and how much depth there is. The questions offer some good guidance for book clubs, but i do wish there were more guided activities like there was on the "If The Shoe Fits" book club guide.

This guide was a major help in my book club. Only recently did we get to read the book and the consensus was that the goodies were cute and the snacks weren't really mood setting, but overall fine. The discussion topic really improved the conversation.
About the next read suggestions, we probably won't read all of them, but they seemed interesting.

I am super appreciative of the content warnings included in this book club kit! Each and every reader in a book club has been through various life experiences and what may be something one reader simply glosses over may be something that sends another into a spiral. So thank you for including those! This was a great kit, with thoughtful discussion questions that will spark great conversation. I don't plan on reading this book with a book club, however, I will definitely be referring to this kit when I pick up One Last Stop off my shelf.
