I did not read the first two books in this series, so this was my first by this author. This was a cute friends to lovers romance. I wish there was a little more character depth, so I had a hard time thinking about who Lizzy and Jack were as people. It was a little slow to start, but got better as I kept reading. Still enjoyable!
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the arc. All opinions are my own.

This book was fine but definitely not for me. I requested it on Netgalley because it sounded interesting to me as a bookstore lover, but there were no warnings that there would be sexual content. I ended up having to skim the majority of the second half of the book to get through it. The ending felt entirely unrealistic for reasons I won't explain to avoid spoilers. The characters were charming enough for the most part. There were also several parts where I didn't enjoy the writing because it felt scattered, the character actions felt inconsistent, etc. Definitely not for me.

ayci Lee's romcom Booked on a Feeling features an overachieving lawyer. A failing bookstore. A childhood friend. And the chance of a lifetime…

Lizzy "Overachiever" Chung, Esq. has her life mapped out neatly:
* Become a lawyer. Check.
* Join a prestigious law firm. Check.
* Make partner. In progress.

If all goes to plan, she will check off that last box in a couple years, make her parents proud, and live a successful, fulfilled life in L.A. What was not in her plans was passing out from a panic attack during a pivotal moment in her career. A few deep breaths and a four hour drive later, Lizzy is in Weldon for three weeks to shed the burnout and figure out what went wrong. And what better place to recharge than the small California town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park.

Jack Park didn't expect to see Lizzy back in Weldon, but now he's got three weeks to spend with the girl of his dreams. Except she doesn't know of his decades-long crush on her--and he intends to keep it that way. She's a high-powered attorney who lives in L.A. and he's a bookkeeper at his family's brewery who never left his hometown. He can't risk their friendship on a long shot. Can he? When Lizzy decides that the local bookstore needs a little revamp, of course, Jack is going to help her bring it back to life. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore there might be more than just friendship among the dusty shelves and books...

Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along.

Jayci Lee's latest book Booked on a Feeling features an overachieving lawyer. A failing bookstore and a childhood friend. This was an easy read, a cute story that was filled with romance. This is the third installment I did not read the first two books Lee provides that cozy feeling you are looking for in a chic lit book. This is not a strong book no big storyline and the characters for me were a little weak.

Lizzy Chung needs a break from her demanding and high-stress life as a corporate lawyer in LA, so focused on crossing items off of her to-do list for a successful life, she is losing herself in the process. Lizzy flees to the small town of Weldon for a few weeks to relax and spend time with her best friend since childhood, Jack Park. Jack is working as a bookkeeper for his family's brewery, and is feeling lost and out of place. He longs for a life lived on his own terms, almost as much as he longs for his best friend Lizzy - but he would never risk their friendship for a fleeting romance. When Lizzy volunteers to fix up a local bookstore in Weldon, she enlists Jack to help, and sparks fly as they spend more and more time together.

This book was sweet and comforting, perfect to pick up when you are looking for a quick and easy read. Reading a childhood friends-to-lovers book is always heartwarming, and Booked on a Feeling was no exception. I also love books set in bookstores...! I loved the strong basis of friendship between the main characters.

Thanks St Martin's Press and #NetGalley for the arc!

I am a sucker for checking things off the list and really related to the main character. I could really picture the bookstore with how Jayci described it. If it was real I would love to be there! Booked on a feeling was a great read!

Jack has been secretly in love with his best friend Lizzy for 2 decades. After Lizzy wins her first trial in LA she doesn’t feel as excited about the win as she should, so she decides she needs a break. She surprises Jack by renting a place for three weeks above a bookstore in his small town of Weldon, where Jack helps run his family owned brewery. To help fill time she volunteers to help the failing bookstore redecorate, and of course Jack volunteers to help as well. As they spend more time together something magically develops. What does fate have in store for them?

What I loved:
▪️ The bookstore. I love that it’s based on books and reading, big plus from this book snob 🤣
▪️ The mental health rep. Panic attacks is something that’s rarely represented in romance books and we need more of this.
▪️The Family Dynamics. I loved learning about Korean family culture. So enjoyable.

What I didn’t Like:
▪️Both Lizzy and Jack seemed very immature for their ages. I kept having to remind myself they were adults.
▪️Lizzy going from zero attraction to full on lust for Jack threw things off for me. It all seemed a bit off.
▪️Jack’s insecurities and low self esteem threw off the chemistry between them. Once they were together it all seemed a bit awkward and clunky. It was like friends playing house.

The saving grace for me was the bookstore part and her friendship with Shannon, otherwise I struggled with the romance part. I didn’t get absorbed in the romance the way I would have like to.

Thank you to @netgalley for providing me with an #arc for my honest review. Hopefully by next week I’ll be caught up on all my arcs!

Are you looking for a cute romance book with a friends to lovers trope? Look no further! Booked on a feeling is the third book in the "A Sweet Mess" series, I read it without reading the other books and had no problems at all! Lizzie and Jack have known each other since they were little, they are best friends; but Jack is secretly in love with Lizzy! He doesn’t feel good enough for her and doesn’t want to ruin their relationship. This book was really good, it got slow at some parts but over all I recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee.

Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along. (Goodreads synopsis)

I have not read a novel by Jayci Lee before this one.

I don’t normally read romance novels. I’m a mood reader and very rarely does romance settle my mood. When I read the synopsis, I thought it sounded like a good friends to lovers with a bit of humor. However, the sense of humour seemed to be missing and I realized I didn’t laugh out loud at all. I might have cracked a smile at how ridiculous Jack and Lizzie acted, but I didn’t laugh.

The writing was good, and everything flowed very well. Lizzie’s panic attacks and love for books was extremely relatable. But for someone so smart, it just seemed too difficult to believe that she wouldn’t recognize how much Jack loves her. Especially since she is such a lover of romance books. Jack was a little harder to relate to, because he seemed to have no self-esteem. Despite so many people telling him how amazing he was, he never seemed to believe it. Over the course of the novel, the lack of proper dialogue between Lizzie and Jack was irritating.

Overall I rate this novel 3 out of 5 stars.

Very enjoyable. Friends to lovers. Lots of Bookstore feels- any book lover will be fantasizing about quoting their jobs and owning their own bookstore. also, some Romance novel Meta moments. 2/5 spicy- fade to black. The food descriptions were mouthwatering and the main characters delightful!

Read very YA in my opinion, which made the spicy scenes a little off. I just don’t think this was the book for me, but see how it could be appealing to some

Books about books have been really popular this year and I certainly have read a lot of them! This is why I think I didn't love this one as much as I expected to. I think I had just hit my quota on books about books. The book starts very slowly and was hard to get hooked and get the motivation to continue to read it. I was pushing myself through the first 100 or so pages. I also think part of my problem was that this book plays into my least favorite trope ever -- the miscommunication trope. Honestly, it is a complete lack of communication, but that is what this story is banking on to survive. I think this could be the perfect book for some people, it's cute and fluffy, unfortunately, it couldn't be that book for me.

This was a cute story, and I think that rom-com lovers are going to enjoy it. I didn't feel completely connected with the characters, and I would have liked to see a bit more out of their development, but overall, it's a good story. I do wish I would have known this was part of a series. I think I may have enjoyed the story more, however, I do think this can be read as a standalone.

Booked on a Feeling was just the cute romance I needed. I'm not normally a friends to lovers fan but I LOVED this one!

The characters were all so likable. Even though Lizzy can be a little too Type A at times I still loved her personality. I especially loved her list-making/ completing obsession because that is so me!

The actual romance was really sweet. Lizzy and Jack are meant to be. Reading about their love for each other was adorable; I smiled throughout the whole book. The romance starts to happen quite quickly which was good even though some parts were a bit slow... it really kept me engaged.

Also, I am a sucker for any romance that includes books, bookshops, etc. so this was PERFECT!

Thanks to NetGalley and St, Martin's Press. I read this one late but it was good. I like rom coms when both POV have a desire for each other. It had a good pace and I like this better than the authors first book.

Jack and Lizzy are the sweetest and most endearing couples in this series by Jayci Lee. I really loved the mutual yearning trope and it is very well done. This book is definitely a slow burn, which can be frustrating but is kind of the point of the trope! I wish there were some flashbacks woven in, I think that would have helped the reader understand the depth and shared history between Lizzy and Jack, but this was a fun book with just a bit of steam!

This book is SO GOOD! Whenever I picked up "Booked on a Feeling", I was whisked away, and absolutely could not put this friends-t0-lovers romance down!

Jayci Lee is such an incredible author! Her writing style is visceral, vivid, detailed, full of heart and emotion, truthful, and her passion for the story she is telling is so incredibly clear. You can really feel what her characters are feeling, and you truly get pulled into their journey from this first page to the last.

Lizzy and Jack have been friends since they were very young, but, have gone on different paths in life. When Lizzy returns to where she spent much of her childhood, the two begin to work together, and soon, their friendship begins to deepen into something more. They are there for one another, and truly bring out the best in each other. They help and understand each other, and watching their love blossom was special. Will these two friends be one another's happily-ever-after? You will just have to read to find out!

If you enjoy contemporary romance books, I highly recommend this novel! It kept me turning the pages, and I look forward to reading what Ms. Lee writes next.

Thank you so much to St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin, and NetGalley for the ARC of this novel! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

To those of us looking for a romance that involves book lovers, small town setting, friends to lovers, and lead characters with emotional vulnerability: this is for you :)

Booked on a Feeling was overall a really sweet story of friends coming together and finding their place in the world and in their hearts respectively. I loved how Jack and Lizzy were truly there for one another and for the most part, never denied their romantic feelings which was nice to have.

Was it predictable? Yes, but it didn't take away from the overall romance. Now realizing there are two earlier books in this series, I would definitely pick them up just to see these characters again.

To anyone wanting to dip their toe in romance, I would say this is one to try!

📖📖📖

Lizzie is steps away from her dream of becoming a law firm partner. That is until she has a nervous breakdown in court. Lizzie goes to Weldon, a picturesque town where her best friend Jack Park lives. Jack has loved Lizzie since forever and as the two spend time together, Jack wants to make his feelings known. When he reveals the truth , can their friendship survive or will it make way for a whole new kind of relationship?

This is the third book in the series. I do think that reading the others would have made me more invested in this book. The book was really slow in parts. Jack was adorable and a great character but Lizzie grated on my nerves. I love love love that this book featured Korean Americans and would like to read more.
