"Booked on a Feeling" is the third book in Jayci Lee's romance series, following A Sweet Mess and The Dating Dare. This book was a quick read, and while I enjoyed it it wasn't anything special.
This was a sweet, slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance. I struggled with the chemistry between Lizzy and Jack. Their romance felt "clunky" and there was too much skirting around their relationship status. While I understand the need for this tension in a friends-to-lovers book, it pulled me out of the story and the chemistry.
I did enjoy the bookstore setting and the references to romance. I enjoyed the humor, but the relationship made this a difficult read. This might be more of a "me" problem and my own dislike of the friends-to-lovers trope.
Overall, this book was fine, I don't have strong feelings either way, and I think someone else may enjoy it more than me.

Huge thanks to St. Martin's Griffin @stmartinspress and Netgalley @netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story follows lawyer, Lizzy, and beer brewer, Jack, as they continously spend time together after Lizzy leaves LA for a short hiatus in their hometown. While working together to help restore a bookstore, the feelings fly and the relationship moves to more than just friends.
Man, I wanted to like this story so bad. I like that the main characters are both Asian descent. I like the whole hometown boy works in a brewery theme. I like the hometown setting. However, the plot and characters fell flat for me. There was a ton of tell but not show and I felt like I was reading the same scene over and over again. The characters had next to no ARC and it was just a-lot of Jack pining for Lizzy and lawyer Lizzy hating her job and wanting to leave. I ended up rushing through the story just to be finished.
I gave this story 2.5 out 5 stars. Don't recommend. There are better stories out there.

I really enjoyed Lizzie and Jack’s story. The writing was well done and the tension was good. I also enjoyed the character development and the support the characters gave each other.

Before I had requested this book on NetGalley I hadn’t realized that it tied in with a series of books written by Jayci Lee. Before I started to read the Arc that I received I read the first two books; A Sweet Mess and The Dating Dare. I had seen recommendations for A Sweet Mess floating around the internet but I just never got around to reading it. When I was approved for this Arc my OCD needed to read the first two books to feel good about reading Booked on a Feeling. I am so glad I did! Jayci Lee is an auto-read for me going forward.
Booked on a Feeling follows Jack’s story. Jack is Tara’s older brother from ‘The Dating Dare’.
What inspired me to want to read this book was because it had books on the cover and in the title.
The story was about friends to lovers Jack and Lizzy who have known each other since they were kids. Lizzy was over-worked and took some time off not knowing that it would change her life around for the better. Everything she was ever looking for to make her happy was just under her nose.
I love how Jayci incorporates the romance, humour and cuteness into her stories!
I could relate so much with Lizzy, trying to be someone who her parents would approve of. Even on her vacation she was somehow working but she didn't need compensation for it as she was passionate and happy about what she was doing.
Out of all 3 books in the series I feel like this would be my favourite, but only because of the book theme.

Such a fun rom com! Was it anything ground breaking? No maybe not but it had a friends to lovers trope, witty banter, a small town bookstore that I want to keep rent free in my mind forever and a great group of supporting characters. This was my first Jayci Lee read and I will definitely be going back to read more!

Can’t believe I waited until after pub day to read this book. Such a swoon worthy romance with bookish themes! Can’t wait to see what else the author puts out.

I’m obsessed with the Sweet Mess series and this was no exception. I think the Dating Dare slightly edged Booker on a Feeling out, but just barely. I LOVED Lizzie and Jack’s story. It was so adorable and I loved the love Jack had for Lizzie all these years. I can do relate to Lizzie’s love of a to do list and love of bookstores. It was so cute and fun and I loved catching up with the characters from the previous books. I can’t wait for more!

Jayci Lee has brought us back to Weldon for another adorable romance in Booked on a Feeling. This romance is set in a Welson bookstore where Lizzy, a lawyer in Los Angeles, ends up for a much needed break after having a panic attack during a trial. Jack, Lizzy's childhood friend, helps run his family's local brewery in Weldon. Friends since childhood who don't spend much time together are pushed to interact since they are both in the same small town. This pushes them to change their relationship. Miscommunication has the couple fighting their love but eventually they give in to their true feelings.

Best friends to lovers trope. I enjoyed this book more than The Dating Dare. I like that Lizzy and Jack both had to take time to truly discover what they wanted in life…big city/small town, mother’s dream of being an attorney/work for family’s business and of course each other. Special thanks to NetGalley and publisher for a copy of the E-book in exchange my pure honest review!

This book was a delight. I was a bit nervous, having not read the first two, but it acted as a standalone quite well and I didn't miss any character development. While I felt the characters at times were a bit goofy and not all that realistic, I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Part of me was also quite jealous at the idea of owning my own bookstore and I enjoyed the real life struggles these characters faced.

Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this book early in exchange for an honest review. I apologize for the delayed review. Life got the best of me!
Booked on a Feeling features many of the romance tropes that I love! I’m a sucker for a good slow burn when friends turn to lovers. Overall, I enjoyed the characters of Lizzy and Jack and generally found them easy to root for. However, I did not realize that this was the third book in a series, which did cause for a bit of confusion at times. Had I known, I would have read the previous books, though this did not pull me out of the story too much.
This was an easy read, and though the plot got a bit bland at times. I’m not sure if it will entice me to seek out the previous books, but I enjoyed this for what it was.

Thank You to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
DNF at 65%
I wanted to love this especially because it had to do with a bookstore and the cover was so pretty, but I have realized that maybe Jayci Lee's writing is not for me. I could not get into this book, I tried so hard to like the character but I was just bored and not interested. I didn't really understand Lizzy's motivations all that well and I was annoyed at her actions throughout the book. I did not enjoy the "will they, won't they" and miscommunication I was annoyed at it and I just wanted them to talk. The other bad guy aspect I also was confused because he was not even near them at all and that made it so hard to be believable.
I am glad that there was a real representation of Asian character's in this but the story was just not my cup of coffee.

Jack and Lizzie have been best friends for years.
When Lizzie decides to take a vacation in jacks hometown they realize that they can be something more.
Typical rom com. Small Town, slow burn, something breaks them up, etc...

Booked on a Feeling was a lot better than I expected it to be actually! I thought it would be cute, flirty, fun and swoony and it was all of those things and so much more. Perfect quick summer fun read that you’ll dive right into and eat right up!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this!
This was a great heartfelt romance and a perfect feel-good read to get you out of your slump. Friends to lovers is always a nice laidback trope to read and Lizzy and Jack were so sweet.
I liked that the author approached issues such as anxiety and the growth and healing aspect was nice to read about and it added more depth to the characters.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this but I do think the plot was a bit bland at times hence the 3 stars. although Lizzy and Jack were fun characters to read about, they didn’t have as much depth as I wanted them to have.

The absolute best part of this book is that the MC got to live my childhood dream of owning a book shop. Living vicariously through her fed my soul ❤️
The actual romance portion between Lizzy and Jack felt rushed for me. I almost put down the book a few times when the love interest’s internal monologue commented on our heroine’s workout routine and eating habits. That may have made the book less swoony for me.
However, because it was friends to lovers and had to do with books, it was worth sticking it out! Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a little late because I got busy but –
I was really excited for this book because it sounded good based on the description. However, I wish I’d known it was the third in a series. Maybe I just completely missed it or it wasn’t stated? Not sure but onto the review.
The plot
- interesting
- the development however was slow. i feel like it could’ve been paced better because it felt like nothing was happening and then suddenly everything was.
- not as exciting as i expected
The characters
- i’ll be honest they were okay but they weren’t super super memorable. i liked them but i don’t think they’re reread worthy
- i’m not a hugeee fan of friends to lovers if im being honest but this book did it well

I loved Lizzy and Jack. Their friendship was sweet and adorable until they both realized they had feelings for eachother and things became a little steamy. This friends to lovers story had me consistently cheering on Jack as he debated following his heart and potentially losing his best friend. The fact that Booked on a Feeling revolved around two bookstores had me loving Lizzy's obsession with everything bookish. This was a fun and quick read.

Not quite as good as the others set in this setting but a fun and easy read. Jack was easily like able but Lizzy not so much.

Absolutely Adorable!
I was hesitant jumping into a third book in a series without having read earlier books however... the past few years have really made me see that life's short so I've been DNF-ing books I'm not enjoying AND jumping in mid series (although of course, I still try to make sure that they're ones that can stand alone like this one). This particular book in the series appeal to me because it's one of my favourite tropes AND set in around books!! You guessed it, I read it in a single sitting.
The shaky beginning was followed by so much sweet cuteness and sparks overload reaching to a crisis that ended so very precious, I really felt like I was so warmly hugged by this whole book. To have characters who actually talked to each other! Ohmygosh, they communicate (!!) mostly and even if they were still hiding or uncertain of some things which I found a tiny bit frustrating at times but overall, I found these two to be quite mature and refreshingly somewhat functional adults. Now, I've really gotta dive into author's backlists!
My thanks to St Martin's Press for ecopy of book via NetGalley in exchange of my honest thoughts
