thanks so much for giving me the chance to read an early copy of this! unfortunately, i didn’t enjoy it as much as i hoped i would. the writing style wasn’t personally my favorite thing.

This book was cute, but it felt like it was missing something. I got bored reading this. It wasn't terrible, but it was just meh for me.

This was a delightful romcom from Jayci Lee! I loved the characters, and the story. And this cove is so cute! Overall, I would definitely recommend!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher.

2.5 stars
There was no plot or twists - everything is pretty straightforward as far as the story goes. I think if it was told in 1st person rather than 3rd, it would allow more of a connection with the characters and be captivated into the book. Overall a slow romance book that I didn't really connect with or get pulled into.

This book was so cute, I didn't realize that this was the third book in the romance series. So I am excited to be able to read more of Jayci Lee's books

Lizzy Chung thinks she has her life planned out until she's steered in a different direction. This slow-burn, friends to lovers romance, was a super cute read. It was a little too slow for me, but the overall story was good! I wish there was a little more spice, but that's just a personal preference!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A friends to lovers trope? Count me in! Childhood friends falling in love as adults? This is my real life story, so of course I love reading it in romance books! The guy falls first and pines for the girl?! SWOON! Again, my life! Now, you throw in a love for books and some panic attacks? Did Jayci Lee write about me or what? This is my first book by Lee, but it won't be my last! I loved this one so much that I purchased it from my favorite small, local bookstore just to add it to my personal library. I cannot wait to read more from Lee! Too da loo, off to my library to check some more of her work out!

Booked on a Feeling ticked all of the boxes for me. Lovable and relatable characters: friends to lovers trope in the best way possible: smart heroine and swoon worthy hero. Sigh… This was my first Jayci Lee book but it won’t be my last! I couldn’t wait to see what happened but I was sad when I finished the book.
Lizzie is an attorney working her way to partner when she takes a moment to reevaluate what she is doing with her life. Jack is Lizzie’s best friend and support system reevaluating his own life. Enter time together during project bookstore with a side of falling for each other. I loved it all!

I did not like this book. I DNF'd after 120 pages because it simply wasn't for me.
The premise is cute—lawyer is so caught up in climbing the ladder that she's blind to the fact that her decades-long best friend is in love with her. Cute. I can work with that. What I didn't like was that the characters read like teenagers, not thirty-year-olds who are well into their adult lives and careers. Their emotions felt a little overexplained (how many times in the first 50 pages did I have to read "but she's my best friend" from Jack's perspective whenever he mentioned his feelings for her?)
It definitely reads as rom-commy, but in the way a YA rom-com would read. The emotions felt very surface-level without digging too much into their history together. It felt like it would have made a better movie script than a book with how one-dimensional the writing style felt at times.

I really enjoyed this story, just like I did Jayci's other two books in the series! I am so glad we got to see how the characters in the previous two books so it felt familiar! There was plenty of humor and there was some steam along with the tension/build up to the relationship. Now I'm excited for the next book. This book did feel like it was over too soon but I really liked it!

Lizzie Chung was a success. She had a promising law career and a LA condo. She was on the fast track to becoming a partner, but a panic attack and a hollow victory made her reevaluate her life. She opted to spend three weeks taking a break and headed to the small town where her best friend, Jack, of twenty years lived. Jack had been hiding his true feelings for Lizzie for decades. Could this be his chance to make her see him as more than a friend? If not, would his attempts jeopardize their friendship?
Packed with witty dialogue, passion and engaging characters, this well plotted story is easy and enjoyable to read. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from St Martin's through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Booked on a Feeling is a childhood friends to lovers (he falls first!) that is so sweet and charming. The pining - oh the pining!
Jack and Lizzie are best friends until the end. When Lizzie suffers a panic attacking during her opening statement, she realizes that maybe this life and career she has fought so hard to obtain isn't what she's really looking for. At the same time, Jack wants more from his own life. He's happy working in the family brewery, but it's not his life's ambition. When Lizzie takes three weeks off from her job, she decides to spend the time in Jack's small hometown of Weldon.
This book was a great blend of sweet and spicy. At some points it seems like Lizzy has a one track mind - mainly getting Jack naked. I loved the book shop setting and it was so great to see Lizzy put herself first for once and stand up to her mother. The small town vibes were really great in this one and I loved all of the dates Jack planned for them to go on. Overall this was just a really sweet and enjoyable book.
This is the third book in the A Sweet Mess series, with the other two focusing on Jack's siblings. They can be read as standalones, but I can't wait to go back and read the other books in the series.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advance copy.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. I think this one will be enjoyed by lovers of contemp romance, but it just wasn't for me. I was bored with the relationship early on and found the writing simple, but I can see how it would be fun for the right reader,

Lizzy Chung is a burnt-out lawyer who has spent her adult life trying to appease her parents by making partner. At her first trial, she has a panic attack and passes out. This causes Lizzy to reevaluate her priorities and take some much needed time off. She desperately needs an escape from billable hours. She decides to visit her best friend Jack in a rural California town for three weeks. As a lover of to-do lists, Lizzy fills her time by giving the local bookshop a facelift.
I adored the town of Weldon and the locals that live there. Jayci Lee's writing gave me Lake Tahoe and Virgin River vibes. I would most definitely book a ticket to visit the cute bookshop, hardware store, brewery, and bakery.
Both characters are Korean. Lee's writing about Korean food and culture is immaculate.
I loved the slow burn of this friends-to-lovers story. I will not be surprised if this book goes viral on Tiktok. I am a sucker for a romance book and books about people who love books.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly, I wanted to love this book. Especially since it had a bookish theme. But I really didn’t. I was tempted to not finish at about 40%- but powered through anyway.
I didn’t really feel much connection to the characters, and found it annoying that all of sudden Lizzy saw Jake as attractive after 20+ years of friendship 🤷🏻♀️
I did love the connection to the bookstore / bookish theme
I felt like there was so much extra fluff in the book that really didn’t need to be there.
I did appreciate the Korean culture & I also enjoyed the theme of Lizzy following her true passion/what made her happy versus what she was “suppose to do”.
Overall, I’d give it a 3/5 stars.

If you're looking for a light, easy read with likeable characters and a heartwarming story, this is the book for you!
Lizzy Chung is a badass lawyer who, despite seeming to be on the fast track to becoming a partner in her law firm, decides to take a break from the demanding lawyerly life. This decision leads her to renting a studio apartment in a small Californian town near Jack, her childhood best friend.
Jack has been in love with Lizzy for as long as he can remember, but knowing it's unrequited has him keeping those feelings to himself. Of course seeing her in his small town rekindles those feelings, and having her in close proximity while they pair up to try to save the Sparrow Bookstore makes the attraction that much harder to fight.
Through witty banter, sweet dialogue, and absolutely maddening stubborn standoffs, these two characters come together in the most beautiful love story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an E-ARC of this book in return of an honest review.
This book was super cute! My favorite out of the series! Lizzy and Jack have been best friends for 20 years but things start to change between them. Lizzy is a fun, happy go lucky kind of girl and super relatable. Jack is a great guy trying to figure out his place in life. Life can be quite messy and the ups and downs can change things either for the better or worse. You should read this lighthearted, cozy love story!

The bones were there, but the story just wasn’t solid. The chemistry felt a bit lack luster and their relationship didn’t really develop like it could have. The narration also felt like I was reading a YA book at some points. It may just not have been the book for me.

This book was cute! I love a friends to lovers story, and I think these characters were well-developed on their own before we got to see them get together, which was also so fun! One of my favorite parts of this book was the bookstore! I thought it was so so fun to get to see the whole renovation process, and breathing life back into such a cute little bookstore was wonderful. Of course I loved the relationship too. :)

Booked on a Feeling is a super cute read!
Loved the characters and their growth (although some plot points were predictable). Lizzy and Jack made such an endearing couple, and their struggles with what they wanted in life were quite relatable. Family expectations can have a huge impact on the choices we make, and Jack and Lizzy both had to navigate through this in different ways.
Some other reviews mention this, but I definitely agree that this story feels a bit YA but with added "spice". Considering it was a friends-to-lovers, I feel like there could have been more background as to how they were such great friends their whole life.
There were some cultural elements included which I also appreciated! Overall this was a quick and really cute read; I loved the cover art when I first saw it and I'm glad the book lived up to it.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC!
