The premise of this book sounded right up my alley: a burnt out lawyer escaping to a small town to help fix up a failing bookshop while falling more and more for her best friend who is along to help her.
Unfortunately, this book didn’t deliver. I found myself skimming hoping that things would pick up, but unfortunately it never did. I didn’t connect to the characters and wish I got more background on them so they I could be able to understand them more. The initial flow of the book seemed fast paced, but after the 5% mark it was quite slow which threw me off.
Thank you St. Martin Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first two books when I received
my arc of Booked on a Feeling and let me tell you I loved this trilogy. I now know it wasn't a necessity to read the first to but I am glad I did. I enjoy this author's writing and how she goes with common tropes but
adds honestly to them. For example this one had a very hallmark movie style trope, but it added in the mental health of Liszt and her anxiety. I someone who suffers from anxiety especially when it comes to achieving my goals I am happy to have read this. My favorite out of the three has to be The Dating Dare though. Anyways pick this book up when it comes out July 26th. Also
who could not have this book on their shelf like the title is go good as is the cover art. Every time I read the title I sing it in the melody of "Hooked on feeling". So if you
see me walking around singing, "Im booked on a feeling, bah bah bah bah, l'm high on believing," you now know why. Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin Press for my digital arc.
The plot of Booked on a Feeling: Lizzy Chung is an overachiever and she almost has everything she always dreamed of. But then she had a panic attack and passed out during a case's opening statement which
was a huge deal for her career. She goes to hometown Weldon so she could have a three week break. When there Lizzy decides to revamp a local bookstore and who better to help her than her life long best friend. Since Jack has been in love with her for about forever and he is good at projects like that because his family's business of course he helps. And you get to see their friendship morph to something different.

the book had all the right ingredients for a goof story, best friends to lovers, angst, pinning and good charecters. the problem for me was the pacing. the real story didnt start until almost halfway. i needed more things to happen to fully enjoys it.

"Booked on a Feeling" is a super cheesy romance that lives up to its punny title. Long time best friends Jack and LIzzy have always supported each other and are finally close to admitting that there might be more to how they feel. There is also a strong plot about figuring out your career in your early thirties. I found the romance plot to be hearfelt and sincere; the career plot had some awkward "would this person really do this?" kind of moments. Overall, worth a read for the romance and the solid Asian American representation.

I’ll start by saying I’ve never read anything by Jayci Lee, so I went into this entirely blind. Initially, it took me until about 15-20% to really get into the book, but somewhere around there I became hooked. I couldn’t put it down!
Lizzy and Jack are childhood besties, and after a grueling twenty years of pining hopelessly for his best friend, Jack decides to get over his crush…until Lizzy begins to see him as more than a friend.
And boy, let me tell you, the sexual tension between these two?? WOW. I was like a thirteen year old girl kicking my feet in the air at a sleepover with my best friends as we talked about cute boys! Jayci managed the build up between these two so well!
I think what I loved most about this book is the nods to Korean culture and the diversity. I love all things k-pop and k-drama, so this was like adding another layer to those things. Like reading a k-drama instead of watching it!
Very good, will be recommending it to others!
Will be uploading a review on my social media closer to publishing date! :)

3.75 stars!
Before I start, I will say that I was not the biggest fan of the past 2 books, I didn’t make it through book 2, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I LOVE the childhood love trope, and this book delivered that. I really enjoyed the relationship between Lizzy and Jack.
It’s a very quick, easy read.

What do you do when what you think you want for your life turns out to be different than what you've been working so hard to achieve?
Booked on a Feeling follows long-term friends Lizzy and Jack as they navigate family, careers, and one another in an adorable small-town setting.
I’m a huge fan of a good friends-to-lovers story. Take that and sprinkle in some real talk about mental health and family and add a side of delicious food and you have this book (seriously, all the yummy food descriptions have my stomach growling)!
This book gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings I love from a good rom-com and I will absolutely re-read it in the future!

This is as much a romance as it is a journey in self discovery. I was hooked by chapter four. There is a lot of Korean representation throughout the story that helps you understand the characters background, motivations, and fears. This book has the story that hallmark movies try to make. 4 stars for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

I liked- not loved this. It was very cute but I got to about 90% and still was not connecting with any of the characters. I love the whole premise of the book and anything that is about books is always Fun to read about as a fellow book lover. I did like the author’s writing style however and will be checking out other books by her in the future!

This book will be published on July 26, 2022.
So, I loved this book! I thought this was a cute, lighthearted romance that follows childhood friends to lovers, Jack and Lizzy. Lizzy is going above and beyond to please her mother, becoming a lawyer living in LA, and following the standards her mom sets for her. She has a moment where she questions her true happiness and decides to take a break from work, and sets out to Weldon, where her best friend of over a decade, Jack, lives, and works in his family's brewery. Lizzy is on this path to self-discovery in terms of what SHE wants to do in life, all while Jack is internally battling a new career move, putting his family's business behind. While in Weldon, spark fly and the pent up emotions toward one another come to a head. Enter romance. I was not expecting any steam from this book, but it did get a little spicy! I enjoyed the relationship and chemistry between Jack & Lizzy, and loved this trope! This was my first childhood friends to lovers book and I thought it was just adorable!
I rated this book 4 stars - I liked it a lot, but in comparison to other books I've given 5 stars to this one doesn't compare.

4 / 5 stars!!!
Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of this book! I loved it so much. I could not put it down. This is a friend to lovers romance which I usually do not like but this one was so cute. The characters were very realistic and relatable. They just warmed your heart. One day I want to experience a Love like Jack has for Lizzy

Fun cute and deliciously binge-able. This is your summer read you won’t put down. As a book lover and desperately in need a good swoon fest this book hit all the marks for me.

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
There are some moments during Jack's and Lizzy's banter that I loved. They knew each other so well, and had some genuine feelings towards each other.
It just took a while before it got interesting. The first 10% with the work stuff didn't really suck you in. Then it was good, and then their fight seemed a bit unlike them.
Overall it was sweet, but perhaps not one I'll linger on.

did absolutely nothing for me. one of the worst books i read this year oops. i kept finding myself skipping paragraphs and skimming and even then i was bored as hell. i’m really disappointed

- Best friends to lovers
- Small town life
- Foodie
- Finding yourself
Very cute book,!
Lizzy has worked her entire life to make partner at one of the top firms in LA. After having a panic attack during her first trial she decides to take some much needed time away from work. Heading to the small town her best friend of 10+ years lives. Jack has loved Lizzy since they were kids. He has never been able to tell her about his feelings. Time spent together may finally help him go from friends to more ...or ruin his relationship with his best friend!
Slow burn with perfect amount of spice! Jack is swoon-worthy

Booked on a Feeling for me was just... okay? It didn't wow me or excite me but I also didn't hate it entirely - very very middle of the road. Nothing about the characters or story had me rushing to finish it - honestly if I believed in DNFing books I might have actually done that. Not terrible of a book, but obviously just very very not for me.

I kept skimming to find substance and ended up DNFing at 35%. So sad cause I wanted to like this one, but just couldn’t get myself to care :(

“”Be back in ten.” He grinned and tapped her on the nose, and she…blushed. Why was she blushing?”
“He’d kept his real feelings for her a secret for so long that the thought of being caught red-handed with hearts in his eyes made him feel a little naked and a lot vulnerable.”
““Just so you know, I could never stop loving you. That’s like telling my heart to stop beating.” “We can’t have that.” She slowly shook her head, wearing a tremulous smile. “You absolutely must love me forever, then.””
Friends to lovers will always be superior for me. Make it childhood friends to lovers and I. Am. Gone. I was ready for some cuteness and light steam, but on both counts, I got so much more than I could’ve asked for.
LIZZY. My sweet, smart, anxious girl. Anxious women on the path to finding themselves and figuring out what they want (spoiler: it’s happiness) ARE EVERYTHING. God she was so amazing and real and I just wanted to wrap her up and keep her safe from all the evils of the world. My heart ached for her.
Jack. JACK. Such a big heart and so full of love and fear. I know how fucking horrible it is to feel inadequate, when all you want is a chance to prove to EVERYONE you’re worth it. But that’s not really the goal is it?
The chemistry!? I was not at all expecting this book to be as steamy as it was and this book pulled off the balance needed with a friends to lovers romance. (Though I wouldn’t categorize this as “a spicy book”, it was still quite hot.)
I love “it’s not unrequited, they’re just idiots” friends to lovers, but it was so fucking beautiful watching Lizzy fall in love with this boy she’s known forever, only wait, he’s a MAN now and why is him being all handyman and shit so sexy??? And him hoping his crush would fade, only for it to become … so much more.
(Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.)

I haven’t read the previous books, but regardless I wasn’t a fan of this one sadly. It just didn’t excite me, nor did the characters have any of my interest at all. I ended up setting it aside quite a bit and dreading finishing it simply for not having interest. It could be just my reading mood or reading preferences at the moment but for now I didn’t enjoy this read as much as I had wanted.

Booked on a Feeling is a romance novel that serves as a love letter to romance novels. If you enjoy fluffy romcoms and books about books, then this will be right up your alley!
I thought the story was sweet, and I enjoyed the premise of Lizzy’s journey of self-discovery and pinpointing/pursuing her real dreams. However, like I’ve noticed others mention, I did feel a little off-kilter being thrown into the plot and characters without much time for exposition. In hindsight, that probably has a lot to do with this being Lee’s third book set in this “universe” so readers of her other titles would presumably already be at least somewhat familiar with the characters of Jack and Lizzy. For me, I would have loved to see more of the developing bond between these two best friends or had flashbacks to their time growing up together in order to buy into their chemistry more.
My next point is a combination of two things that went hand-in-hand and just didn’t quite work for me as a reader. 1) I felt that the book was a tad too long. It did seem slightly repetitive at points, which made me feel like I wasn’t trusted as a reader to keep up with what was going on. And this was only emphasized by 2) the dual POVs. They just missed the mark, in my opinion. Knowing what both main characters were thinking and feeling at all times lowered the stakes and left it nearly impossible to surprised by any relationship developments or decisions. Having to check in with the other MC during each chapter (even when they were together) also lengthened the overall page count of the novel…circling back to my earlier issue.
Although I didn’t love this full book as much as I had been hoping to there were a lot of aspects I found super enjoyable. Following Korean-American characters was delightful, and it was interesting to see how their shared culture and yet vastly different families were sprinkled throughout their love story. I was also super appreciative of the inclusion of Lizzy’s anxiety and how she dealt with her panic disorder. The normalization of medication, therapy, taking time for your own mental health, being open and honest about your struggles, etc. were all handled so well!
This is a book I would definitely recommend romance-lovers try reading for themselves to see if they gel with it. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my advanced access to this title!
