This was a very fun and lighthearted read! This is a childhood best friends to lovers book with a lot of sweet scenes. It did take quite a few chapters for me to really get into this book but once I did I was really rooting for Jack and Lizzy. My favorite parts of the book were the fact that the primary setting took place in a small town book shop, the extremely well written anxiety representation, and all of the Korean food and culture we got to learn about!
I was disappointed we didn’t get to see more of the chemistry between Lizzy and Jack especially considering that he was pining after her for 20 years. Overall this was a fun and fluffy romcom! Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for providing me with this advanced digital copy!

Lizzy is a super relatable MC - annoyed by anxiety and jaded by life, comfort food, flicks, books and clothes, ‘separate stomach for sweets’ and a gleeful near obsession with todo lists.
Five years out of law school, she lives in LA and is on the path to partnership, but the endless stress and a pre trial panic attack have her questioning her life’s work. So she heads to small town Weldon for a three week vacation (vrbo in friends town) to decompress and reset.
Jack has helped his family startup and run a successful brewery in Weldon. He’s also been quietly nurturing a 20 year crush on his best friend Lizzy. He’s secretly made it a goal to get the sort of job she’d be proud of him for having - and make himself feel useful - one in LA so he’d be closer to her. But if this three weeks in Weldon is all he has to be close to her? Not going to pass that up.
Between early morning runs and volunteering time to help revitalize the bookstore beneath her rental, they are spending more time together than they have in ages. Seeing each other differently, or maybe just allowing themselves a chance to try something new.
His long time pining + her sudden powerful thirst = UST for daaays
Trope heavy and sweet, I liked this one.
Even if I did feel weirdly anxious about how much Lizzy’s education must have cost as she considered changing her life’s path.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for the ARC

I have a Netgalley checklist - if the book is about a book, a bookshop, a library, a librarian or any combination of the above it's gets an automatic request from me - those are my sweet spots and Booked on a Feeling came through with flying colors. I loved this book and devoured it over a weekend. Just delightful.

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Content: profanity up to and including f-bombs, non-graphic sexual situations
I'm a book person. For real. My passion is books. But I don't get everyone's obsession with bookstores. I don't have shelves and rooms overflowing with books I've purchased. I am a library loyalist. I have bags of books I've checked out from the library. The idea of a place that matches people (especially children) with the perfect book without taxing their finite resources makes my heart fly. That said, I did appreciate the setting. It's no big shock that authors love bookstores, is it? And a place to get books is a place to get books, I suppose.
This is an okay love story. I would have liked to really feel the connection between the characters more strongly than I did. I really liked the Korean culture throughout, especially the chance to see differing parenting styles and goals within that culture.
This book gives off strong Book Lovers (Emily Henry) vibes. Recommended for fans of that book.

Solid 4 star read! Thank you Jayci Lee for this sweet and sometimes spicy read. I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers story and Jayci wrote a good one with the pairing of Lizzy and Jack. And better yet, the primary setting is in a quaint small town, in a book store! Their chemistry was evident to everyone but themselves, but once they finally realized it, the sparks flew!
Additionally, I appreciated the way Jayci tied in the Korean culture, it truly added more heart to the store.
Lastly, the anxiety representation was well written. It’s important to show that even our book characters struggle with mental health and it’s appreciated when these topics are covered.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!

This book is the third in Jayci’s sweet mess series but they can all be read as standalone novels and this is the first one I read from the series. I enjoyed this one so much I would go back and read the others though because this book was absolutely adorable! 💗
✨contemporary romance
✨childhood best friends to lovers
✨bookish characters 😍
What’s not to love?!? Lizzy Chung and Jack Park stole my heart. I’m such a sucker for a sweet rom-com. This story had such a feel good quality to it. Their chemistry seemed so natural and not forced at all. There were so many parts that made me so happy 😂 If a man left notes in my current read just to make me smile I would marry him. That’s all I’m going to say 🥺😍
The whole premise of them both helping fix up a book store had me sold 😂 romance and book fanatics?! Yes please.
Lizzy struggles with anxiety and Jack is having a bit of a quarter-life crisis so I found them both to be very relatable on multiple accounts 😅😂 including the karaoke and love for giggly cheesecake 🤍 I have provided the synopsis on the following slide but if you love a light hearted, funny rom-com with a bit of spice then this is for you😍
Such a fun and quick read💗
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars for me!
This book releases July 26, 2022 and I highly recommend it!
Special thank you to Net Galley and St. Martins Press for the advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review! I am so thankful.

Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee is a simultaneously sweet & sexy best friends to lovers romcom that’s book 3 in the A Sweet Mess series. This is the first book I’ve read in the series & I think it can easily be read as a stand alone. A lot of it takes place in a bookstore, which is one of my happy places so I loved that.
This book deals with mental health struggles, specifically anxiety & showcases the importance of doing what is best for you & not just your parent’s expectations. It even talks about romance novels being crucial to the main character’s mental health, which I completely agree with & loved the message. I don’t think the romance genre in general ever gets the credit it deserves, so I just wanted to give a shoutout & appreciation for all romance writers! Thank you all for writing the stories people can get lost in.
Booked on a Feeling is an adorably spicy romance about two long time best friends that try to navigate the journey of dating & love. It also has a little bit of second chance romance. This was a delightfully easy novel to escape in for the afternoon.
Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee comes out July 26, 2022!
Massive thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Griffin for giving me the opportunity to read an arc of this in exchange for an honest review.

Lizzy and Jack have been best friends for twenty years. Lizzy is a successful lawyer trying to make partner at her firm in LA. Jack is the financial mind behind his family’s brewery in Weldon, a small town 2 hours north of LA. After winning her first big trial leaves her feeling unfulfilled, Lizzy starts to question her career and all of the anxiety and stress she’s facing. So, she decides to take a 3-week vacation in Weldon to be closer to Jack and relax. But, what she doesn’t know is that Jack has had a crush on her all this time. And Jack, unbeknownst to Lizzy and his family, is currently trying to find an identity outside of the family business. As they spend time together, they decide to team up to help spruce up the local independent bookstore. Feelings start to change and sparks fly. But before they can figure out what this means, Jack and Lizzy both have to face their job situations and decide for themselves what career paths to take.
This was a cute romance. Both Jack and Lizzy are Korean, and I enjoyed learning more about Korean culture and food throughout the story. I also really loved the bookstore project in the plot. Jack and Lizzy are both likable characters, and their relationship is sweet. The story was told from both of their perspectives, which was intriguing. But I do feel like Jack and Lizzy’s internal dialogues were a little redundant, with the same self-doubts being rehashed almost in every chapter. Overall, it was lighthearted, cute, and sweet. I liked it, but I didn't love it as much as I had hoped. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for providing me with this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
3.5/5 stars

This book was so good! A classic feel good rom com with just the right amount of cliches. I never felt bored reading it and finished it wanting another book just of their happy life together!

This was a quick and fun read! It took me a few chapters to get into but once the book started picking up, there were plenty of enjoyable moments. This is a friends-to-lovers book but when Lizzy and Jack were put together, it felt like there was something lacking. Their interactions were sweet and I was definitely rooting for them as a couple, but I wanted more depth and background story (especially since they were friends for 20 years). Their individual growth was well-written, but I would have loved to see more of their chemistry together.
Though it was predictable at times, there was a lot of potential in this book and it would be interesting to see some more developed aspects. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, easy, and fluffy romcom!

This was a sweet friends to lovers romance! Jack and Lizzie are both trying to please their parents in careers that they are successful at but are unfulfilling to each of them. I loved watching them grow together and find the things that made them happy in the end. Jack is one of the sweetest male leads and when he sang to Lizzie, I melted!

“His smile and touch made her heart pound and great flocks of birds—butterflies were too small to describe what she felt—take flight in her stomach. And knowing that they were together filled her with so much joy that she felt like it was going to ooze out of her.”
I looooove a good book about book lovers, especially when it’s a romcom! This was such an endearing and wholesome story. I adored Lizzy and Jack, I adored Jacks family, I adored Shannon and her son. I am a sucker for falling in love with the side characters! The bookstore steam was 🥵

“Despite her vow not to buy any more books—she could almost feel the accusing glare of her TBR stack back home—she predicted an overly enthusiastic book haul in her near future.”
“And who doesn’t love happily ever afters?” “The cold, bitter people with shriveled raisins for hearts who disparage romance for being formulaic. That’s who.” -this is also basically what I say every time I see a sour review for a romance/romcom 😅
Thank you Netgalley, St. Martins Press and the author for a copy of the book!!! This releases next month!

3.9/5 📚
This book is apparently about me. Lizzy is an overachiever lawyer (she even tries an employment case!) who loves lists, checking things off those lists, and absolutely adores bookstores. She’s also trying very hard to live up to the expectations of her Asian mom she will never meet. Dang, Booked on a Feeling, why did you have to write about me like that. Enter Jack Park, her very best friend of 20 years who has been in love with her just as long who doesn’t think he’s good enough for her or her family’s expectations. I am not normally a friends-to-lovers trope person because I always feel so bad for the one friend who’s been pining forever because it always feels like they give so much the other friend just takes. It didn’t feel that way in Booked on a Feeling (though she did her fair share of asking favors), it felt more like friends who love spending time together. And I love any book that talks about traditional family foods (here, Korean). I was surprised to find myself enjoying it so much and recommend to anyone ever wishing they could give it all up and run a bookstore.

Booked on a Feeling has a cute premise and chemistry between the leads, long-time best friends Lizzy and Jack. Lizzy is a lawyer in LA on track to becoming a partner. She has anxiety and, after fainting, at a trial smartly decides to take a break! She plans to spend three weeks off a few hours away in her best friend's hometown of Weston. While there, Lizzy finds herself a bit bored and ends up helping her temporary landlady spruce up her bookstore. Of course, there is Jack. Will her short stay in town bring them closer together?!
Though Lizzy and Jack had a great friendship and blossoming romance, I was more invested in the subplot of Lizzy figuring out what career might make her happy than in the storyline with Jack. The characters are 29/30 years old but seemed younger regarding experience and behavior. We don't really find out much about them or their backstories. Still, this was a sweet comfort read. 2.5 stars. Give it a read if you enjoy friends-to-lovers romance.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this ARC via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Such a sweet romance, it was an easy fast friends to lovers read. Not usually my favorite trope but it was sweet.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press Publishing and Netgalley for the E-ARC of Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee!
This was a fun and charming book about chasing after what makes you truly happy, even if it requires a leap of faith. Lizzy is a top-performing LA attorney on her way to making partner at her firm, but a panic attack and burnout makes her take a step back. She visits her hometown to visit her childhood best friend and help a struggling bookstore.
This book was funny, sweet, and both characters worked to find what they loved over what was merely expected of them. I loved the inclusion of Korean culture and food (definitely had me craving some home cooked food!).
Favorite quote(s): “There was a right book for everyone whenever they needed it.”
“Every second he wasn’t in her life felt like a drop of blood falling from the crack in her heart. She couldn’t let life hemorrhage out of her.”
“Jogging buddies forever”

Friends to lovers is my absolute favorite trope. The pining just calls to me. And sometimes unrequited love is just the perfect addition. In this case we have Jack the best friend that has known our FMC for 20 years and is completely in love with her. He is unhappy with this life in the small town of Weldon.
Lizzy is the up and coming uber successful lawyer. But she has lived for her mom and she isn't sure the life she is living really is her dream. So after a panic attack she takes a 3 week vacation to the small town where her best friend lives.
Suddenly she has a wonderful project, and the persona she loves the most beside her, nothing can go wrong right?
The story was funny and sweet. Lizzy was very lovable and Jack was a sweetheart, definitely giving me the best friend vibes all the way. Lizzy's train of thoughts were hilarious making laugh out loud quite a bit.
I did sometimes find those thoughts from both Jack and Lizzie quite repetitive and found myself skimming through certain parts because I felt I already knew where they were going. Also sometimes Jack felt too unrealistic the way he was thinking, like not what a man would think in certain situations.
Overall, it was a very cute ROM com of finding yourself even if you thought you were set for life. Falling in love with your best friend and standing up for your own dreams.

DNF @ 40%. The premise was promising but the execution left much to be desired. I loved all the Korean culture and representation. It read like YA to me but not good YA writing and that wasn’t what I signed up for.
Thank you St. Martin's Press & NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What an adorable book! I won’t be surprised when this book is all over bookstagram within the next couple of months.
This book has the coziest small-town and bookstore vibes. Not to mention — how cute is the title and cover?
I loved the banter and budding romance between the two main characters, Lizzy and Jack. I compared myself to Lizzy’s character on multiple instances throughout the book, including her love of making to-do lists and checking things off when they are done!
I also was appreciative of the way that the author wrote about Lizzy’s anxiety and panic attacks — the descriptions were realistic and relatable.
I recommend this book to anyone who has ever wanted to open their own bookstore.
(I just found out that this is Book #3 of A Sweet Mess series, and I will definitely be checking out the first two books! I love when books have intertwined characters and storylines but do not have to be read in order.)

Once again Jayci Lee has managed to create an adorable rom com with just the right amount of tension and spice and mouth watering food depictions.
I loved the first 2 of her novels and they’re only getting better. I could really tell her writing has evolved and improved over these books.
I really appreciated that she brought in more of Korean-American perspectives and brought in a bit of the characters culture in this book. The characters in this one were also more developed with a lot more background than her previous and it was so well done.
If you’re looking for a good summer read that’s easy and keeps you on your toes, Booked on a Feeling would be a great choice. It’s the small town romance/ friends to lovers/Second chance romance we all need.
