this was just meh. the writing was a little cringy to me and i couldn't get invested in the romance. maybe it was due to the lack of connection i felt towards the characters. it really jumped right into the story without much development. i will say that it was quite cute at times and i would recommend it to someone who just wants a quick read.

This book was super fun and adorable! I would recommend this book to others, especially for a fun summer read. I was afraid that the book would be cliche, but I was happily wrong about this. This is a unique and quirky friends-to-lovers romance without being over the top.
This book follows Lizzy and Jack, who have been best friends for the past 20 years. Lizzy is an attorney at a large LA law firm climbing the corporate ladder, while Jack lives in a small town and runs the family brewery with his brother and sister. Burnt out and struggling with anxiety attacks, Lizzy decides to spend some time in Weldon to relax and reset. Jack is struggling to feel useful in his family business. He longs for a more challenging career, and is secretly harboring feelings for Lizzy. Both Lizzie and Jack must find their own paths to feeling fulfilled, while also juggling feelings for each other that may change their friendship forever.
Again, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author did a fantastic job of making this story fresh and new within the romance genre. I loved the characters and the writing of this book. Highly recommend!

Sweet, heartwarming, and absolutely adorable.
I don't tend to give romance books many 5 star ratings, because as we all know, they tend to follow the same formulas so it can be difficult for them to stand out from the rest, but there is something about this book that I just absolutely loved. The author played into some of the romance stereotypical tropes in such an endearing, self-aware way that I found it so hard not to enjoy.
Jack and Lizzy are such charming characters in a friend to lovers romance that just melted my cold little heart. When I read any book during the week after work, I am always looking for something to decompress with and eliminate the stress of the day, and this was exactly what I needed this week, and is ironic, as that is exactly what Lizzy is looking for with her "vacation".
Booked on a Feeling had lovely characters, a compelling friends to lovers romance, trying to meet parental or life expectations, self discovery, and even a character working with trying to understand her struggle with anxiety and what causes it. I really just enjoyed this so much and I highly recommend taking a look!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH to NetGalley and the always reliable St. Martin's Press for providing me with a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Booked on a Feeling has an expected publish date of July 26th, and I definitely plan on picking up a physical copy!

So, the best word I can come up with to describe this book is "meh."
I held a lot of hope going into this book. From the synopsis it had some of my favorite tropes including friends to lovers and when the guy falls first. I've been on a real romance kick lately and I thought this would be perfect. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations due to several issues.
The first thing is that overall, the writing was cringeworthy. Lizzy wasn't so bad, but Jack was something else. He was too sappy for me, especially in the first half of the book. There was a lot of repetition of his overwhelming love that he had for Lizzy which was twenty years in the making. His perspective was mostly him mooning over Lizzy or worrying about his job. It just made him very unlikeable and made the relationship as a whole too mushy for me.
The second thing is that I really don't understand how or why the relationship developed now of all times. The book starts with Jack already in love with Lizzy, and as mentioned had been for a ridiculously long time. But, Lizzy was not yet. As it started to unravel in the book I just didn't understand why Lizzy's feelings suddenly changed and to be honest it seemed more like a change in lust than anything else. It made the relationship seem forced and inauthentic which was a let down.
Lastly, I think the writer created some interesting side characters that I would have loved to seen more of. They felt more like fillers that were pushed to the side and just there to show that Lizzy and Jack weren't the only two people in the town. But, I would have much rather seen more development of Jack and Lizzy through their interactions with some of these other characters, especially Jack's family. I think it was a missed opportunity for the author.
Overall, while I was incredibly excited to read this, particularly for its inclusion of a book obsessed main character, I was left feeling disappointed and pushed myself to even finish it. Here's to better luck on the next romance!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. While I liked the premise of the book, I found while reading that it was mainly poorly written sexual tension. I could've done without it. Love is about far more than just being attracted to someone. I didn't connect to either main character and while at times it's okay to just jump into the story, in this case, I needed more background. I wanted to see more about their friendship dynamic not just how they wanted to sleep with each other. I ended up stopping at 70% because I couldn't get behind the characters or story in general.

Jayci Lee did a wonderful job writing this romance. It was fun, flirty and emotional. Loved the chemistry between Jack and Lizzy. I also really enjoyed how they each stayed true to themselves and still found love. Definitely would suggest to my friends and would read again.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC! Upon reading the summary and looking at the cover, I was excited to read this. The tropes stated in the summary and the diversity that this book promised really drew me in. It started off a bit slow but once it got going it was so adorable it had me smiling and laughing. The main trope is friends-to-lovers and it was one of the cutest ones I’ve ever read. The tension and pinning between the two love interests, Lizzy and Jack, were amazing and their banter as friends had me screaming. Also, I loved reading the relationship between Jack and his siblings, the loving support between them made me so happy. The flaws of the main characters were alright, I just wished the author went more in depth with the relationship between Lizzy and her parents and her issues with anxiety. It was brushed over too quickly and resolved in the matter of pages. Also, the miscommunication setup made me skim a bit towards the end, but the cute epilogue made up for it. Overall, this was an entertaining read if your a fan of friends-to-lovers with a diverse cast and a male lover interest who is absolutely obsessed with the female lead.

Such a cute and heartwarming book! The pacing was perfect, just the right amount of drama, and a wonderful amount of sweetness. Both Jack and Lizzy were easy to like and the plot was interesting enough to make me keep reading. It’s got childhood best friends to lovers, pining, and books….what more could you ask for? A cute easy read for any book lover!
It did give a little bit of Hallmark movie vibes. So if a little bit cheesy is your thing, this will probably be a good fit for you.

A quick read with a friends-to-lovers trope. It personally reminded me of Emily Henry’s “People We Meet on Vacation.” I rated it a 3/5 because I personally can’t get into the friends-to-lovers trope without a fallout that makes them enemies for awhile. I did enjoy the unrequited love aspect. It was a good book, but also not life altering. I would recommend this as a quick read.

This book had a great premise. I liked the characters and felt like I got to know them pretty well. I loved the that book store played such a central role in the plot, but unfortunately much of the Romance feel a little flat for me. The dialogue didn’t feel witty or realistic and the love story just didn’t keep my attention.

This was a hard DNF for me. As much as I wanted to like this, at around 50% I completely lost interest and couldn't bring myself to finish. I wasn't invested in the romance at all and I think it was due to it feeling really inauthentic to me. Unfortunately, it felt to me as though the author was shoving their feelings (particularly Jack's) down my throat instead of leading me on a journey to feel what he was feeling.
The overall concept I think is super cute, the writing and the characters were just a miss for me this time around....
Thank you Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I enjoyed Lizzy and Jack and watching their friendship turn into something more.
I adored the bookstore aspect and watching Lizzy and Jack help Shannon turn her bookstore into something beautiful.
I did get bored in parts unfortunately but all in all I did enjoy it.

I LOVED this book!! hit a little too close to home as a Lizzie who is in law school and also is absolutely obsessed with books (was a little shook but didn’t drop out so that’s good!)! The character’s were great and I loved seeing them develop throughout the novel! Won’t lie also love a goof friends-to-lovers book! Cute read if your looking for a fluffy quick beach or rainy day read!
Special Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Jayci Lee for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review!

4.25/5
I really enjoyed this! It was so cute and fluffy. Lizzy is an attorney in LA who struggles with anxiety & decides she needs a break so she goes on a vacation! and where does she go? Weldon... which is exactly where her best friend Jack lives. Oh also, he's been in love with her since he was 10. She's there for 3 weeks to recover from this burn out & learns so much, not only about herself but also Jack & what she wants in her life! I loved both the main characters and definitely related a lot to Lizzy & her anxiety. Jack was a sweetie & i enjoyed reading about their love story. It was a cute friends - lovers and i'm happy i read this!
Thank you Netgalley & St. Martin's Press for the ARC 💗

Super cute book! A prefect comfort read on a rainy day. It was a great read! Thanks to netgalley for for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Book: Booked on a Feeling
Author: Jayci Lee
Rating: 5/5
Synopsis:
Jayci Lee's romcom Booked on a Feeling features an overachieving lawyer. A failing bookstore. A childhood friend. And the chance of a lifetime…
Lizzy "Overachiever" Chung, Esq. has her life mapped out neatly:
* Become a lawyer. Check.
* Join a prestigious law firm. Check.
* Make partner. In progress.
If all goes to plan, she will check off that last box in a couple years, make her parents proud, and live a successful, fulfilled life in L.A. What was not in her plans was passing out from a panic attack during a pivotal moment in her career. A few deep breaths and a four hour drive later, Lizzy is in Weldon for three weeks to shed the burnout and figure out what went wrong. And what better place to recharge than the small California town where she spent her childhood summers with her best friend, Jack Park.
Jack Park didn't expect to see Lizzy back in Weldon, but now he's got three weeks to spend with the girl of his dreams. Except she doesn't know of his decades-long crush on her--and he intends to keep it that way. She's a high-powered attorney who lives in L.A. and he's a bookkeeper at his family's brewery who never left his hometown. He can't risk their friendship on a long shot. Can he? When Lizzy decides that the local bookstore needs a little revamp, of course, Jack is going to help her bring it back to life. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore there might be more than just friendship among the dusty shelves and books...
Sometimes the path to the rest of your life has been in front of you all along.
Review:
I adored this book! Lizzy and Jack were adorable and I loved getting to see their journey from friends to more. The friends to lovers trope is my absolute favorite trope of all time, so I am so happy that Jayci did this trope justice. Aside from the romance, I loved the bookstore setting since I am a bookworm myself. This was a super fun and fast spring read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

A really cute fluffy read. I mean talk about falling in love with you best friend of 20 years and having a bookish romance in a book store. I will say chapters 3-6 were kinda boring for me but everything after super cute and a fast read !

Book received for free through NetGalley
Absolutely amazing book that was so hard to put down but I also wanted it to last forever. Perfect characters and everything.

Unfortunately this book was a 3 star flop for me. This book has a perfect premise, all the things I wanted in a good rom-com - a book about books, friends to lovers trope, small town.. all so good. But it just wasn’t. I couldn’t stand that these two were best friends and yet neither of them knew the other didn’t like their job and life, and also the fact that they both had the exact same issues was annoying, why couldn’t they have had different stories? Now don’t get me wrong, some of the banter was cute but a lot of it felt very forced. The “sexy talk” and vulgar language felt very forced at times and not natural. It also felt too predictable. I get that romances are, but I could’ve guessed each thing that happened. Overall, it was cute but not a book I’d recommend or read again.

This book was fundamentally okay. I think the love story was sweet and easy to read, but the lack of a back story was really off putting to me. I like to know more about the characters then what I got. I think this book will find its people, but I wasn’t one of them
