I thought this book was just meh. I was really interested based on the premise but unfortunately I did not like the characters. I could not stand how spoiled the characters acted for most of the book it was so frustrating. I just wanted to grab them and yell grow up already. Kasi was rude and self absorbed and I just hated her. I will not read any other books by this author

I was not expecting this to be as spicy as it was. The beginning was a little too fast, I felt like I didn't get as much world building right off the bat. For a quick romance, this was decent. I feel like the main part of this book was the smut, which is not what I usually look for in a book. I feel like there could've been deeper conversations with the other characters and it would've been nice to see the scenes at the competition.

The story of the Everheart Brothers of Texas continues in the second installment of Kelly Cain's three-part series, "A Tasty Dish." Kasi, an ambitious movie producer is striving to create a name for herself in an industry where her father's reputation looms large. Much like Declan and his siblings, Casey finds herself overshadowed by her film producer father, who has blackballed her latest project in an effort to force her back into the family business.

Determined to make her movie her way, Kasi teams up with Declan, and together they navigate a path filled with obstacles, twists, turns and the ever-present Flynn Everheart. As they face their share of trials and tribulations, their relationship deepens, and the heat between them intensifies. Kasi is all work and some play, and really isn't looking for anything serious. Meanwhile, Declan is all in with all the feels. In contrast to the first book, the author has turned up the spiciness in "A Tasty Dish," adding a full pepper to the mix. This book is full of family drama, fun BFF's, laughs and spice. Both Kasi and Declan have major daddy issues. Kasi's kind of cause her to be a jerk at times. She tends to speak first and think later. It happens more than once. She also has gut reactions that aren't always mature (who blocks their business partner for a week??) and get her into trouble. This wouldn't be such an issue if she had some redeeming qualities, but I found her almost unlikeable at the beginning and only towards the end did I kind of feel like she could be a good person.

One notable improvement in this sequel is the relocation of the food recipes to the end of the book, allowing readers to enjoy them without interruption from the main story. While the pacing of this book picked up considerable compared to the first book, there are still mini cliffhangers, which drive me bananas. Once again, the absence of the male protagonist's point of view is once again felt, leaving readers longing for more insights into Declan's thoughts and feelings. I would have really liked it, particularly in this book. Declan's relationship with Flynn is so complicated and important to who he is, it would have been beneficial to his character to have a bigger voice.

All in all, A Tasty Dish is a delectable blend of romance and ambition and I cannot wait to read what's in store for Weston in Book Three. I gave it a 3.5 star overall rating, bumped up to a 4 because there are no 1/2 star emojis.

I really do like to give romances a fair shot because they make for good stories in between heavier stories. However, this one just didn't do it for me. Good narrator.

Loved this one! I love that this series has recipes! I really want to try some out. The romance is a bit angsty and very spicy! Kasi and Declan just click. The steam between them was great! The idea for Kasi's film was so neat. I would watch it! I cannot wait to read more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The themes and romance seemed intriguing and exciting. I don't know what it was but I couldn't get into the story. The writing style and the voices didn't match with me honestly

The one thing that threw me off was the narrator - there were minimal variations in the characters' voices - which made it a little harder for me to distinguish the character as well as find them.

I didn't get to complete this book before the audiobook expired. I hope that it got better after the lackluster start.

I am giving this book a 2.75 due to the effort and because I hadn't finished the book to completely judge if it turned around

One liner: Kasi is fighting to make her own name in the film industry and when her financing comes with an amateur producer (Declan) she almost passes on a great ending.

Kasi is trying to get her film financed and is not happy when her best shot wants his son to come along to supervise. But she agrees and ends up convincing him to go in front of the camera. The chemistry between the two is high and so more than her show is in danger when his dad decides he wants him out of the project.

This had a high spice factor for those who are looking for that. The book was short and well written. I would love to see the show described in the book as well!

3/5 - Book #2 of the Everheart Brothers of Texas Series; Listened to Audiobook

Ugh, I wanted to like this book as much as I enjoyed the first 25% of the book. But it felt incredibly repetitive, and unfortunately, Kasi’s character was just so frustrating! Her insane independence had me eye-rolling. The only other qualm I had was that this is a character series of the three brothers, but each book is read from the females perspective. Ugh what I would give for a dual POV.

I enjoyed the spice, and the chemistry was very potent.

Brief Plot: Kasi is striving to get a documentary financed without her fathers name attached. Declan is struggling through a family restaurant obligation, until the two meet, and Declan believes he and his family can help Kasi. But when business and pleasure mix, the two have to distinguish the difference, and the constant conflict that comes from working.

Thank you NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media, for an ARC Audiobook copy of A Tasty Dish, by Kelly Cain, narrated by Deanna Anthony. This is my honest review!

I did not like this one. It was not horrible but I kept losing my focus on reading it. I would give the Author another try though

After one month, I got around 30% in forcibly and finally gave up.

I hated the main character, she is the nastiest meanest character I’ve ever read .

She was spoiled , selfish. And just plain mean to everyone around her. A user.

Add to it that the narrator had the awkwardest pace, even speeding up didn’t take the bad reading.

Maybe the heroine redeems herself later on, I don’t know and I don’t care. She was so mean that i genuinely don’t wish her to succeed.

BOOK REVIEW

I didn’t love this book. It felt like a very cliche romance story. This book is a multi-racial romance (which I really appreciated!). Kasi Blythwood has always lived in her dad’s shadow. He’s a hot shot film producer and she’s trying to carve her own path in the same industry- but is that even possible?

Kasi goes to Austin to a film conference to scope out some funding for her new project. It is here that she meets Declan Everheart who is a chef and his dad wants to fund her film. Declan’s dad agrees to fund the film only if Declan can be a co-producer.

Kasi doesn’t know how she feels about this. Declan is 🥵 🔥 and Kasi is not sure how they will work together. It is clear that Declan follows everything his father says and Kasi wants an identity away from her father. Can they navigate these family challenges and work together?

this was a very nice part two of a wonderful new romance series. I thought the parental drama was realistic, the relationship (despite the minor instalove) was wonderful and i liked the characters

A Tasty Dish by Kelly Cain was a delicious audiobook. One part love story, one part adventure and a dash a family drama makes for an intriguing listen.

Thank you to Netgalley for the audio version of this book.
I found this book rather hard to follow. The main story was good the erotica scenes were off the charts steamy and excellent. I found this book to have to many side stories to go along with the main story. There are several side stories that could have been left out and the book be perfectly fine. I found that the same scenario kept playing out over and over and the book became very easily redundant. Other than that the book was a good listen. The recipes at the end were a added bonus.

How to best describe A Tasty Dish? Well, it's an enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers romance novel that also looks into the relationships between fathers' and their children. I enjoyed the overall plot, but I had a difficult time connecting with the characters due to them essentially complaining about the benefits from nepotism and then wanting to break free to do their own thing.

A fun and fast read with lots of spice. I loved the relatable (flawed) characters and the backdrop of both the film making industry and restaurant business. Great pacing and dialogue and lots of fun locations.

A lovely, heartwarming tale of two people, similar in unmistakable ways, yet a world apart. I quite enjoyed many aspects of this book and the simple yet brilliantly crafted storyline that fits perfectly with the characters' conflicts. The audio book reading was pretty good too, so make sure to get yourself a copy.

I went in wanting to love this one but found it wasn't one for me. The book was less romantic and more sexual. The relationship was too rocky and felt forced. One minute they can’t keep their hands off each other the next she wants him out of her life. The characters fell flat for me which made the story drag on.

I liked the book but it was just okay. While I had difficulty connecting with Kasi, the chemistry between her and Declan was very intense. There was a lot of steamy scenes so the romance was definitely there. The plot was decent but it felt like it was all over the place at times and a little disorganized. Even with the few critiques, I would still recommend this to a friend.
