Don't mix pleasure with business is Kasi's mantra as she tries to fulfill her dream in producing a movie. This was a hot , sexy , witty , fun read.I really like the main characters and the story-line.

This writing was not very good. I did love Declan but Casey seemed childish, cocky, rude, and all around a horrible person. She made reading this book very difficult. I did really enjoy the plot and that’s the only thing that got me through it

Perhaps if you read the first book you’ll be more inclined to pick this one up and enjoy it. I didn’t read the first one and there is a good chance I wouldn’t have picked this one up if I did but I’ll have to go back to that someday after reading it. As for this one, it’s ok.
Kasi Blythwood has a rich and famous film producer father. She feels like he deliberately kept her under his thumb with tough love. She’s at a point where she is ready to make a name for herself. She secretly heads to Austin for a film conference and to try to get some financing in order to create an indie series that features food from around the world.
When Kasi meets Declan Everheart, a chef, she is instantly, and I do mean instantly, in lust with him. So, lucky for her, an interesting business opportunity presents itself. Declan’s father is a Michelin star chef and he's interested in funding her film. However, there is a string attached, Declan has to be a producer on the series. Well, oh boo hoo, since she decided she wanted to ‘sleep’ with him the second she saw him… Anyway, although she puts on an act with how bad of an idea it is she still fills almost every page with how she must have him (after all she knows how gorgeous she is and so of course he will want her too) she craves her independence and knows (or at least acts like she does for like, three minutes) not to mix business with pleasure.
Declan is a really nice guy. Kasi knows he’s more than just eye candy that she can’t wait to not commit to but, hey, sex isn’t commitment so it’s all good though he doesn’t feel that way. Declan winds up being a natural producer, talented chef, and knows how to shine on camera as the host. Now, Kasi who is estranged from her father, feels she has to convince Declan to break away from his father so he can build his own life.
So, I really didn’t like the main character for the most part. She really doesn’t know how to take responsibility for her actions and truly seems to expect that everything she says and does is absolutely correct. Everyone else is wrong, she’s right, so it should all go her way even when she’s acting like a little brat after being the one who starts a series of events.
Still, Declan seems to be a great guy so he is very easy to like. So are most of the other characters in the book. I think if the main character had just a slight attitude adjustment the rest of the story would have been better. It’s hard to get yourself into a story with an unlikable main character.
I would still say that perhaps you should read this book, especially if you’ve read the first and know what you are getting into.
Thanks to NetGalley, I was able to listen to this on audio book as I read the book. I think the narrator was fine but 100% should avoid books with any accents at all. Not a strong point but I did get a bit of a chuckle since I was thinking that’s about how I’d sound attempting them! Accents aren’t easy. Other than that the narrator was pretty good.

A Tasty Dish follows Kasi and Declan as they both want to get out of their father's shadows. They will end up working together on a series about dishes coming from different countries. The synopsis was interesting even though the idea of following two people who were raised with a silver spoon in their mouth didn't sound appealing at first. The audiobook's narrator did a good job but I still found myself drifting away when I listened to it. Overall, this was an okay romance story but I never fell in love with the characters.

(Thank you for letting me read and review an ARC via Netgalley)

This was a cute story, but the main character was unlikeable. She was selfish, unreasonable and lacks empathy until it was shouted at her. I was more interested in the secondary characters of Joy and Tariq more as they seemed more complex and kind. I did like the other brothers and will look at the other books to read their stories.

While I enjoyed the narrative being appropriate to reflect our MCs, the story wasn’t for me. I needed the steam factor to happen and by this point it still wasn’t up to par.

This was my first time reading a book by Kelly Cain. It is a story about finding your way out of your parents’ shadow. Basically, the story is about Kasi Blythewood an indie filmmaker (daughter of an acclaimed filmmaker) and Declan Everheart a chef (oldest son of Flynn the owner of a Michelin star restaurant). They meet and both discover that they have a lot in common. They both learn that they have a strong desire to stand out from their famous fathers and to make it on their own.
The sparks fly rather quickly between these two and they see they have even more in common. I do like the premise of this book. I like the positive message of striking out on your own and not riding on your parents successes!
Kasi is a strong determined young woman who is smart and knows what she wants. Kasi is an interesting character but somewhat unlikeable at times; But who isn't. That is what makes her character so real! When Declan and Kasi are together there is nothing but steam and quick/witty and smart banter. I really liked this book! I did not realize it was the second in a series, and I'm planning to read the first book (An Acquired Taste) immediately!

This was such a fun read. I requested this book because I want to read more food related novels, especially contemporary romances. Although I wasn't disappointed it was not necessarily what I expected. When someone is pictured in a chef's jacket on the cover with other food items I presume the novel will be really focused on food - and I felt like it wasn't.

I did though really enjoy the characters, especially Declan. I am intrigued enough to try to read some of the other books in this series - they're on my TBR list now. Both characters developed a lot, but I did find the female lead to be a bit immature, and I think she grew a lot which is great - but I didn't always enjoy her personality.

The audio galley was really well done. The only drawback, as I'm a new listener of audio books, is that it wasn't always clear to me when the words were being spoken aloud between two characters and when they were being thought inside the female character's head. There were also one or two chapters that seemed to start out of nowhere and I felt lost - so again, perhaps something to do with the galley itself but it threw me for a loop when I would have preferred to not have to question what was going on so much and just enjoy it!

Overall, a fun story and I enjoyed the spice level - even though it was seriously lacking in the kitchen.

I received an audio copy of a Tasty Dish. The narrator was great and I enjoyed listening to her. She really brought Kasi to life for me, because I have a feeling if I would have actually read it myself, she would have fallen flat. And maybe that is where I will start with my review of the actual story.

This is supposed to be a series about the Everheart brothers, but I feel like they are hardly in the book at all, other than when Kasi and Declan mention them. I like that Kasi is a strong female lead, trying to not be shadowed by her famous father. But to me, she comes off selfish and reacts over the top about everything. One minute her and Declan cant keep their hands off each other and she is “catching feelings”, and the next she is writing him off and out of her life. So their relationship doesn’t feel that strong for me. I would have liked to have gotten some chapters from Declan’s perspective. I don’t really feel like we got to know him. Again, is this a series about the brothers if the entire book is in a females prospective? I don’t really think it is. The middle of the book also dragged a bit. I find that I am more patient with audiobooks than I am ones I am actually reading. This one passed the time just fine, but isn’t all that memorable.

Bottom Line: I really enjoyed the narration of this one, and it was entertaining to listen to. I feel like it wouldn’t have been as strong for me if I would have read it on my own. It’s one that passed the time just fine, but I am not sure I will remember much about it in a few months if someone asked.

3/5 for A Tasty Dish by Kelly Cain

Kasi Blythewood wants to create an identity for herself; something that isn't associated with her film-producer father. To pursue this dream she travels to Austin for a film conference to raise funds for her dream project: a series showcasing world cuisine.

Through her journey, Kasi meets Declan Everheart, the son of a Michelin star chef who is interested in funding he project. The only catch is that Declan has to be a producer, which would be completely okay if there wasn't some lust involved 😏.

As the two work together, Kasi discovers that Declan is a natural in this work. But, his father prevents him from reaching his true potential...and being with her. Will he be able to overcome this obstacle and attain a happy ever after that's only a decision away?

I'm not a huge fan of audiobooks (I probably offended a large group of people.) Hear me out thou, I simply hve a hard time listening to a book, because none of it really makes sense that way. I'm a more visual learner, and it's even hard for me to listen to a recipe while baking.

Given this situation, it took me a long time to finish listening to the whole audiobook. I usually can finish reading a book in about 1-3 days. But, this book took me over a week. Kind of unheard for me lol.

HOWEVER, I found myself actually enjoying this book. The controlling-parent aspect of the plot really spoke to me. I myself have over-protective and super-involved parents that do not know the concept of privacy. Love them, but they do get on my nerves sometimes.

What drew me in even more was the FOOD. Any book or romance story that has food involved automatically is a buy. Even if I don't end up enjoying that book, I still need to buy it (it's a problem, I know.) Thankfully, I did not regret listening to this.

Finally, props to the narrator. First time that I wasn't annoyed at the voice in a long time!

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy, however, all opinion are my own!

Many thanks to NetGalley and to Dreamscape Media for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I went into this with very high hopes after reading the description, but I was left with my hopes not quite met. While I did enjoy the premise of the story, the characters felt a bit underdeveloped and it was hard to connect. I also feel the middle of this book dragged on for longer than what was necessary, and it made the back and forth between the characters more irritating instead of what was tension building.

This had some really great moments, and the banter was fun and entertaining and it did make me intrigued into what the rest of this series has to offer. (As per usual, I accidentally read book 2 of a series first, but this worked great as a stand alone story)

I think the other was able to describe a good family dynamic between a family who has difficulty communicating, and families that are very loyal to one another to the point they lose sight of their own wants and needs. The sexual tension was there and described in detail, Overall I did have a fun time listening.

Great story, will definitely be checking out the other books in the series. I love that the heroine is imperfect. Aren't we all? The romance unfolds on a timeline that feels atypical to my personal experience, but still feels very realistic. I enjoyed all the characters and the basic plot.

It does feel weird to me that this series is named after the Everheart brothers when we don't ever get the story from any of the brother's perspectives. It feels like at the very least, half the chapters should tell Declan's story from his point of view. I also struggled at times with the audio not being clear that significant time had passed between one sentence and another. The audio narrator was great at conveying different American characters through her voice, but struggled when it came to doing foreign accents.

Over all, an enjoyable read.

I'll start by saying that I did not realize this was a book in a series and did not read the first "The Everheart Brothers of Texas". I honestly don't think it's necessary though as it reads as a complete story.

This is a sex-heavy rom-com with the classic rise and fall. It was enjoyable enough but there was nothing unique about the story or characters.

The narration was incredibly distracting, The cadence and inflection was way off and it definitely took away from my enjoyment of the story. I wish I would've read it vs. listening to the audiobook.

Kasi Blythwood is an idie director and film maker looking to fund her newest food documentary. While at a film conference in Texas she meets Declan Everheart and sparks fly. When the opportunity comes to fully fund her documentary she jumps on it in order to have her dream and maybe fall in love too.

First thing, this book is STEAMY and I LOVED it! I did not know that I was jumping into book 2 of a series but it did not seem like I missed anything by starting here maybe a couple of Easter Eggs about the other brothers. The characters felt real to me and like they really were falling in love. They had genuine flaws and could be mean to each other but that’s what made it seem like they really were trying to work through their flaws and no one is perfect.

The narrator, Deanna Anthony, made Kasi, as the protagonist, come to life and her genre voicing throughout the audiobook was believable.

Final Thoughts - pick this book up if you like a realistic relationships with LOTS of steam.

DNF at 14%. I’m really liking the story so I’ll 100% be buying the physical book to finish it, I just couldn’t stand the narrator. I gave it a few tries but the voice used for the guy just itches my brain wrong.

Thank you Netgalley & Dreamscape Media for this E-Arc audiobook in exchange for a honest review. Unfortunately, I did not like the narrator of this audiobook, or this story. The writing is mediocre, and I don’t understand why there’s so much cursing. The sexual references are very cringy. I feel like the “enemies to lovers” trope was too forced. I liked how this was taken place around food, but that’s it.

This is the second book in a series but you don’t need to read the first one to know what is going on. Kasi, the MC, is looking for someone who will finance her dream indie project. She meets Declan Everheart, a chef whose wealthy dad might want to finance her project. Kasi is hoping to escape the shadow of her famous father. Her and Declan have instant chemistry and things take off from there. I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
