I enjoyed the narrator, but thought the story itself had something to be desired. To me the pace was a bit slow, taking too long to get to the actual filming of the show. The chemistry between Kasi and Declan was sizzling though! Thank you for the opportunity to listen!

First off, I loved the narrator and I thought she did a great job playing all of the characters. Second, this book was cute and light. I liked the "filming on locations" aspect of this book and I wanted to know more about each destination. I liked both characters, but I wish there wasn't so much back and forth with their relationship. I would've liked to focus more on the documentary and them falling in love in cool places. Overall, good book and I enjoyed it!

Received the advanced audio copy this book through Netgalley and while I LOVED the concept (a young black filmmaker, trying to get out from the shadow of her famous and interfering producer father, secures funding to produce a travel cooking documentary with the handsome son of a famous restaurateur). Unfortunately, the family drama on both sides really over shadowed a lot of the foodie/filmaking aspects that I looked forward to. Additionally, Kasi our strong indepent protagonist, was also irrationally stubborn and quick to react in ways that were over the top. Everything with her was in absolutes, and she was so quick to flip things around that she gave me whiplash. All the additional drama of owing her friend money, hating her father (who was trying to sabotage her, so I get it), not trusting any males or father figures and his family being at war and in the middle of a food competition program of their own off screen really took away from their story and put their romance in the back burner. There was definitely steam, but their relationship building was more implied than shown 2.5⭐

Both Kasi and Declan have grown up in the industry and cannot seem to escape their fathers' shadows and expectations. Can they find their own way and possibly love through Kasi's persuit to make an indy series about worldwide cuisines?

First, I did NOT expect it to be as spicy as it was but Kelly Cain turned the heat wayyyyy up between Kasi and Declan. The narration by Deanna Anthony was well paced and enjoyable. Overall, I think the narration suited this book really well and I would absolutely suggest the audio book for someone looking for a new romance series with plenty of spice.

The only negative (which isn't really a negative) is that I actually think Cain does a great job at developing Declan's character making me wish that we could have seen this more from his perspective. Since this is my first book in the Everheart Brothers of Texas series, I'm not sure if any of this series has or will focus more on the male perspective but I think it would have paired really well with the writing style and the storyline in this installation of the series.

Thank you Net Galley for an audio ARC of A Tasty Dish by Kelly Cain. This is a story about Kasi and Declan on their path to love. Kasi was written as a very self assured woman. I thought it was too much. Therefore I didn't connect with the characters.

This was my first book by Kelly Cain. I was really intrigued by the premise of a woman trying to secure financing for her dream documentary project and the Michelin starred Chef's son she falls in lust with and is then forced to work with. Sparks fly instantly when Kasi and Declan Everheart meet at an Austin film conference. I gotta say I was a little surprised by just how STEAMY this open door romance was. If you like the steam level high this book is definitely going to deliver!

What didn't work well for me was how much I felt the story dragged a little in the middle. I didn't fall in love with these characters. They felt a bit one-dimensional. Each was trying to find their own path out of the shadows of their famous fathers. Their relationship was really rocky for me too. One minute they were tearing their clothes off and then the next she was cutting him out of her life completely.

That said I'm still interested in reading the first book in the Everheart brothers of Texas series. Recommended for fans of On location by Sarah Echavarre Smith or Sonali Dev's Rajes series. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy! This was a good listen narrated by Deanna Anthony.
