Debra Webb is a must read for me. This is the start of a new series and I’m anxiously awaiting book 2 because this one left me with some questions. I want to know who murdered her husband and the secrets he kept from her. I will definitely recommend this book.

The premise of this book was good, but it left me with a lot of questions and it wasn’t well wrapped up. My biggest pet peeve with this book is that the author inserted all these questions and thoughts surrounding Finley’s husband and his murder and ends the book without solving ANY of it. I’m tempted to read the second book when it eventually comes out just to know what that story line is going to end up being, but I’m also so frustrated that I’ll likely just read the reviews and synopsis from people that actually do read book 2…

This is the first book I’ve read from the author. I had some trouble getting into the story, but it did pick up and end up with a solid murder investigation.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the copy of The Last Lie Told. Once this book finally got going after about 30% in, I really liked it, I just really wish it hadn’t taken so long! Finley was a good character. The story was a little confusing and one that I really had to read carefully because there was so much going on with the other characters. This was a promising start to a new series and I will be looking out for the next book! 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

A very complicated mystery as a convicted murderer denies that he is guilty of murder, even though he confessed to killing the man. Finley O’Sullivan, a former attorney is working as an investigator for her friend and attorney Jack Finnegan. She is still recovering from the injuries and trauma she suffered when her husband was murdered. It has been a year, but she will find the men responsible for her husband’s death; one down, two to go, three actually. The murdered man’s family includes identical twin daughters who continually deny their involvement in their father’s death while blaming each other while his widow prefers that the case had not been reopened. No one seems to be telling the truth as Finley asks questions that lead to more revelations about the man and his family’s twisted past. I prefer for the mystery to be solved within the story, but hopefully (in the next book) we will learn more about her husband’s murder and why a detective committed suicide. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This is my first read of prolific author Debra Webb, a crime novel set in Nashville, Tennessee, featuring legal investigator Finley O’Sullivan, suspended as a lawyer after a courtroom meltdown. She is a griefstricken widow who has barely moved on from the murder of her beloved husband, Derrick, in their fixer up home and the horrifying trauma she herself experienced. Nothing has changed in the house that she still lives in, and despite powerful forces arraigned against her she will not be deterred from working with her boss and godfather, Jack Finnegan, in a case representing the Legard women, Sophia and her twin daughters, Cecilia and Olivia. Well known in the music business, Lance Legard had been murdered, and the man convicted of the crime has now pointed the finger at Cecilia.

In a narrative where the truth is only arrived at after wading through a quagmire of lies after lies, the Legard women particularly guilty of this, Finley has to contend with her own PTSD and personal demons, and she is shocked to discover that Derrick might have been less than truthful too. Webb's storytelling requires a considerable level of suspension of disbelief, and whilst I found some of it okay in parts, I have to own up to racing through much of it, and not for the best of reasons, to simply to get to end and be able to move on. This is for readers looking for a undemanding mystery with not as much depth to the characters as I look for, and whilst I think many readers will enjoy this, it was not really for me. That is not to say I did not find some aspects entertaining, I chose to read it as I do like legal thrillers, but will be giving this author and this series a miss in the future. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

Finley was an attorney, now working as a legal investigator, the rules and laws she seems to bend. She has a life of conflict, and adjusting to the murder of her husband and being a victim has changed her
The author lays out a number of questions to draw the reader in.
Plot overall was good, confusing at time. Beginning of a new series
Given ARC by Net Galley and Thomas Mercer for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

I had to DNF this book around 20%. There are so many questions, plots, and characters that I can't get sucked in to it. The major cause for DNF is using assault as a plot device. The story could do without it, given the other things going on.
Another thing that struck me about this book was the lack of research on legal procedure. It didn't seem accurate and basic Google searching confirmed my suspicions.

What a great start to yet another masterful series by Debra Webb. The Last Lie Told, Book 1 in The Finley O’Sullivan Series is a very entertaining book. Debra Webb is a seasoned author and knows how to write captivating and engaging books. This is a solid story that is easy to read and will keep you up very late at night! Ms. Webb weaves a devious story filled with suspense, secrets, lies, betrayal, murder and many twist and turns. It will not only keep you on the edge of your seat but knock you right off it! The characters are likable, and some not so likable but are all flawed and damaged. This one is filled with action and shocking ending that will make you yearn for Book 2. I highly recommend this new start to what appears to be a very devious series!

Thank you NetGalley, Thomas and Mercer and Debra Webb for an advanced copy of this enthralling book in exchange for my honest review!

The Last Lie Told (Finley O’Sullivan book 1) by Debra Webb is the beginning of a wonderful new series that has me (impatiently) waiting for the next book to come out. I literally couldn’t put it down once I started.
Ms. Webb has a way of weaving stories that hook you and doesn’t let you go until the very end.

Well Debra Webb has started a new series with The Last Lie Told and I can’t wait for the next book to come out because I want to know what Fin will find out about her deceased husband Derrick and his death and the secrets he kept from her. I am totally hooked on this series and I can’t wait until it unfolds and everything in unveiled.
As for the first book I loved how it introduced the characters and the ongoing storyline. The mystery in this book was also great with all kinds of twist and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the entire book. Some of them even blew my mind, but I am not going to share because I refuse to give spoilers. You will just have to read the book Abe be ready to have your mind twisted.
The Last Lie Told gets five out of stars has I patiently wait for the next book in the series to come out!

A legal investigator whose brutal attack and the murder of her husband Derrick haunts Finley O'Sullivan in this new series by Debra Webb. Finley is determined to find the truth about what happened to her husband. She feels responsible for his death, yet things are not as they seem. With each new lead, she starts to learn that maybe she never really knew her husband at all.
Her godfather Jack, head of the investigative agency she works for takes a new case. A convicted Killer who recants his confession takes them down a path that neither wanted to go. Matt her close friend lends his help with insider info that is helpful in her case and her. Their friendship has helped her through the years, but we wonder if there might be more in their future. The judge (aka her mom) provides angst to Finley, and I very much look forward to this mother-daughter relationship. The two plots play out side by side, and the twists and turns keep you engaged.
Debra Webb never disappoints in her cat and mouse thrillers that keep you guessing until the very last page. Her style of writing keeps the reader turning the pages and just when you think you have the story figured out, she throws a curveball. If you haven't read any of her books, then I recommend this one or any of this authors books. They are all very much worth a thrill ride not to be missed!

Finley is working as an investigator after blowing up her law career. She is still torn over the unsolved murder of her husband. When a convicted murdered recants his confession and claims to have proof someone else did it Finley is on the case. This book will grab you from the first page. There are so many twists and turns, just when you think you have it figured out the book goes off in a different direction. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I have to admit I was suspicious from the start but only because I expect the unexpected from this author. I also expect well developed characters, a sound story, skilled writing, and an intricate plot. I really liked the relationships, good and bad. There are several layers. You will have to pay attention, or not. You read the surface or a deep dive! And if you may stay up all night because you can't find a good place to stop don't blame me. Consider yourself warned!

Finley is a investigator recovering from a nervous breakdown over the murder of her husband and is determined to find the killers. She and her boss, Jack, an alcoholic lawyer, take on case involving the murder of a wealthy husband and the father of identical twin daughters. The man who confessed to his death is in prison and claims to have new evidence proving that he did not commit the murder. As Finley delves into the case, she discovers that everyone is lying. The twins and their mother have a very complicated relationship that keeps the reader engrossed in the story.

Finley doesn’t get the justice for her husband that she seeks in this novel and I’m looking forward to reading future novels in this series.
