I was so excited to receive an ARC of the first book in an amazing new series by Debra Webb. Her female characters are so strong. I cannot wait for the next in the series. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!

I just have to say that I love Finley O'Sullivan she is a Sassy Investigator who does not get along well with her Mother that she refers to as Judge. Jack is her boss and he doesn't get along with the Judge either anymore and Finley isn't sure what happened there because they used to be really close.

As an old murder case reopens there seem to be more questions than there were before and things aren't like they used to be. This is a book that will have you on the edge of your seat and you will hardly want to put it down. I carried this book with me every where so I could finish it quickly.

I think you will enjoy it and I can't wait to read more by Debra Webb in the future.

I thank NetGalley, the publishers Thomas & Mercer, and author Debra Webb for this great read. This is my honest opinion.
I just finished this book and already can't wait for more books with these characters. A definite yes, do read.

Finley is a former ADA who had a breakdown in court that cost her the job. She was back to work too soon after the murder of her husband and assault on her, they said. The case is unsolved. Now she works for her godfather, Jack as a private investigator, and she is the best at it as she has an uncanny ability to dig in the right places.
The story starts with a man in prison requesting a new trial because he has proof he didn't murder the man he confessed to killing and blames one of the identical twins whose father was murdered. It starts all sorts of trouble and Jack must defend the girl who hasn't even left her home in years. But did she do it? Or did her twin? Or was it the man in prison all along? Finley sets out to find the truth and working with the twins and their mother proves to be a tangled mess. One twin a recluse and one twin moved away never wanting to return. She must, however, but refuses to step into the home she was raised in. One twin won't go in and one won't go out. Finley’s mother, a judge wants her to stay away from the case the DA wants her to stay away from the case too which makes her stay all the more. Finley is also on a quest to destroy the ones responsible for her attack and the murder of her husband she's convinced she knows who but the detectives don't believe her so she will continue to pursue them herself. Her focus now is on helping Jack prove his client innocent. The story left strings to future books making it hard to wait for them.

Finley O’Sullivan, the protagonist of a new series, is my new favorite heroine. Smart, determined and with a past that could kill a weaker person, Finley is a legal investigator who throws her best efforts into whatever task she is assigned. Working with Jack, the head of the investigative agency and her godfather, Finley is tenacious as well as compassionate with the clients. The realistic portrayal of the characters, with all of their weaknesses and self-doubts, is what makes this author one of the best and one of my go-to authors when I want a good book to read. This book was exceptional in that it introduced a new series with a complicated plot and plenty of suspects to choose from. The twists were innumerable and there were plenty of surprises along the way, too. I liked the relationships that Finley had with Jack and her friend Matt, a man who seems to want more but who isn’t pushy about it. I was captivated by Finlay’s mother, the Judge, because she has few attributes of a mom and all of the characteristics of a woman seeking more power. I am looking forward to finding out more about their broken relationship in future books of the series. The plot is one that is original, with a killer recanting his confession and the repercussions from his actions to all involved in the original murder, investigation and conviction. There are some real lowlifes in the book who genuinely need to be taken behind the woodshed and have some sense knocked into them. But they are integral parts of the story, so I was content just to dislike them. There is a sub-plot, too, in which Finley is trying desperately to find the men who murdered her husband Derrick and left her injured in body and soul. There are quite a few twists in that part of the tale, too! Fans of suspense with a kick butt female protagonist will enjoy this new series as much as I did and look forward to the next book.

Wow!!! I got to read an ARC of The Last Lie Told. This was a great read and one I just couldn't put down. Fran O'Sullivan is a legal investigator whose husband was murdered and she is trying to find answers. Fran takes on a new case with friend Jack and is trying to find out what really happened during a murder 5 years ago to a music mogul. The person who claimed was guilty is now saying he is innocent and Fran is trying to find out what really happened. It has so many twists and turns and an ending that you just never expected. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

Now THIS is a GREAT Read!!
Love Ms. Webb's books and, as usual, she keeps upping her own game!
Finley O'Sullivan is a lawyer on suspension, and fired from the DA's office. She is now working for her friend, Jake, as an investigator. She didn't expect that she would be working on a very high profile case as her 'comeback'. She has been quietly trying to work on the unsolved murder of her husband a year ago, but this case appears to, somehow run partially along the same lines. Everything is a puzzle. Every word a lie. Every witness, suspect, informant has an agenda. Solving this case, and possibly her husbands'' is not going be easy in any way. Then again, nothing worthwhile is ever easy.

Struggling to come back from the edge after the brutal and unsolved murder of her husband, legal investigator Finley O’Sullivan pours herself into a twisted case of murder where power and money are woven together with lies and secrets. And at the center are two sisters, twins, light and dark, and it is Finley's job to untangle the threads and discover the truth while facing down her own demons.
I have to say that this might be my favorite book by this author. This book is just.....different...in a good way. These characters are damaged, flawed, with an edge but sharp and totally fleshed out and likable. You find yourself rooting for them to make it.
The story is riveting, well written, with twists you won't see coming.
